Detailed Reviews
We can't thank the AOF team enough for making our stay so wonderful. The main lodge area is tastefully done and comfortable with a well stocked bar and very reasonable prices for Safari. The food is excellent and the accommodation comfortable and clean with a spacious outdoor shower and sink area. The only thing lacking was AC but as they pride themselves on being eco-friendly and living off solar panels this is understandable and the provided fan just about kept a very hot couple of nights bearable. The two plunge pools are a god send on a hot day and we loved relaxing by them looking out over the bush. Mauritz, Juan Carlos and luke treated us to a wonderful candlelit dinner for our anniversary by the pool followed by a stay in the treehouse which we hope is repaired soon as it's a must do when there. So thank you guys for that touching gesture, a great memory.
I word to the wise for those new to a walking safari. You are never going to see as much game as you would from a vehicle. A walking safari is more about getting the dirt between your toes so to speak and smelling and feeling the bush in close proximity as well as learning about the ecology and animal behaviour. You will see more than enough game during your evening drive. We saw four of the big 5 and loads more beside in just 3 drives with only the Leopard missing.
As safari lodges go AOF does what it say's on the tin! It's incredibly good value for a private reserve and you are not sharing the reserve with lots of jeeps as most of the time you are on your own which is refreshing. We finished our holiday with a four night stay at Inyati in the Sabi Sands which was fantastic so we were very happy with the combination of the two reserves and highly recommend AOF and the Klaserie reserve.

A fantastic team who really went consistently above and beyond to make our stay outstanding in every way. We were met at the airport an game viewing started en route. The accommodation is clean and comfortable. The main area is an open palapa style with a fire pit area for evening pre and post dinner conviviality. The mornings start with early game drive and guided walks. The guides are very personable and professional. We were very fortunate to come up close on foot with some of the big five and every encounter was smoothly handled by Luke, Adie and Juan Carlos such that no-one was ever at risk. The kitchen team put together a series of amazing and tasty meals conjuring up unbelievable quality and variety in a remote spot - many thanks ladies, you are awesome! Overall great value for an unforgettable experience.

+1
We had three different safari stays during our round trip in SA but we enjoyed the stay at Africa on Foot Camp for three nights total by far the most! It is a lovely little camp, very cozy common area and a nice plunge pool.
We were very lucky to be the only guests for a whole day and besides private game drives even received a lovely candlelight dinner by the boma fire.
During our whole stay the food was very delicious and there was a good selection of drinks in the bar fridge for cheap prices (from a German point of view ;) ).
The guides JD, Craig and Thomas were very friendly and we could notice every day how much they enjoyed their job and still got excited when there was a great animal sighting. :)
It is nice that in the Klaserie reserve there are only three lodges so you usually do not run into other vehicles on game drives often. We saw many lions there, even lion cubs and a lot of other interesting animals. Even if there were not many sightings on a game drive, the guides still made it interesting with information about birds, plants and more.
It is also very cool to be able to do bush walks every morning - totally a special experience.
We definitely recommend booking the tree house for one night - completely amazing experience!
I would love to come back some day and will definitely recommend the camp to everyone.

Hi there. We are happy to hear that we were your favourite camp. It sounds like you had an incredible safari experience, from all angles. The Klaserie is one of the quieter reserves in the Greater Kruger, and has prolific predators. Well done on the lion cub sighting! Regards, the SD team.

My wife and I spent two nights in a room which was very cozy and located next to the wilds. We enjoyed taking showers outside whilst being so close to the nature.
The food was exceptionally good: The healthy breakfast was the perfect preparation for the day and we enjoyed lunch and dinner every day. Especially we want to thank you for the unique dinner we had at the pool.
The bush walks and drives are very private and we enjoyed it very much, to experience the nature with such small groups. Compared to 'commercial' rides, this is way more exciting.
Most importantly we want to thank Jenna, Konrad, Luke and the staff for being such lovely hosts. You made this a stunning experience we will never forget.
Best regards
Monique and Felix

From the first minute when we met with Millie to the last one our stay was fantastic. The guides Noelle, NT, and Calvin taught us how to walk in the bush and drove to show us the big five (with the exception of the lions), and a lot of other wild animals. It was really fantastic. In the lodge, everything was made to let us have a comfortable stay: excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner, shared with the other participants, two swimming pools to relax, chalets clean and cozy, and a shop to buy souvenirs.
Many thanks to the team.

We spent 4 nights at Africa on Foot in the wet, summer season and it is an experience that will stay with me forever. The 4 members of the guiding team ( Connie, Luke , Danelle and Tyson) were warm , welcoming and enthusiastic. Our trip coincided with once in a generation rain but that didn't dampen ours or their spirits. The walking safaris were limited because of the rain but we still saw ( and heard!) some amazing wildlife. Stand out experiences were seeing two hippos mating and our lone game drive cruiser being surrounded by a small herd of elephants . We also saw a leopard walking across the road, oblivious to us. And the advantage of the season was we saw quite a few young, including a baby rhino and a buffalo that was a few hours old. The wildlife don't seem a threat but they felt more reserved than the other safari we did, which makes for an amazing experience. You feel you are lucky to see them. For three of our nights there was just us and another couple but in any case there are only 5 "cabins" so the camp has a very intimate feel. Meals are shared with other guests with one of the rangers acting as host, which we really enjoyed as it was enriching to get to know other people. The rangers were also attentive during other moments, always asking us if they could get or do anything for us. Amazing service - and I liked the fact that from this point of view there was no distinction between types of role. It all made for a welcoming and warm experience. The accommodation was as expected, fairly basic from one point of view but we had a comfortable bed, a decent shower and electricity at all times thanks to the solar panels. Wifi was always available in the communal areas. The food was abundant and very tasty. I will never forget our time at Africa on Foot, thank you to all the team.

We were in South Africa for 3 weeks and our 2 night stay at Africa on Foot has given me my favorite memories. The staff is incredibly friendly and Connie is the best guide we have had on our 3 trips to Kruger area. She knows her stuff and she inspired confidence in her ability to keep everyone safe on our bushwalks. We stayed here 8 years ago and we were not disappointed upon our return. It is a very special place and we had some outstanding elephant encounters. We enjoyed getting to eat meals with fellow travellers and all the guides made an effort to engage with us beyond the call of duty. I was very sad to leave and highly recommend this amazing place that I carry in my heart now,

Connie is a fantastic and knowledgeable guide, ever eager to share her wisdom of the wild. We loved our stay at this camp!
- the staff is amazing! We spent very friendly moments with them at the camp, very attentive and keen to make us have a good stay
- the food was delicious! The meals are different every day and well presented, we enjoyed ourselves throughout our stay both at breakfast and dinner.
- the guides were great and gave lots of interesting explanations throughout the safaris (/! if you don't know English very well it can be difficult to follow)
- We saw many animals in the private reserve, the guides communicate with each other the position of the animals to allow us to see as many as possible, one day is not the other and the presence of the animals can be very variable.
- accommodation: the icing on the cake!! Our little lodge was just great, exactly what we were hoping for, with a small outdoor shower which was very appreciated!

My sister and I spent two nights and we would have loved to stay longer. The lodge is really nice because it is intimate, there are not a lot of guest and you have some really good place to relax and chat with others. The food was absolutely delicious (we are still very much shocked that we had such amazing meals in the middle of a reserve!!). The room are very comfortable.
Big big thanks to Craig and Jon for the bush walk and the game drive, it was fantastic and we got really lucky.
We will always remember our first night:
Craig: "Okay so do you want to go have a look at those two lions we heard of? Or do you want to have wine and beers first?"
Us: "Well, definitely the lions!! But if we can drink wine and watch the lions, that would be perfect!"
We were joking, but guess what happened? In the end we watched about 4 beautiful male lions while drinking our wine!! Truly incredible.
Thanks again to our guide Craig, we really appreciated your kindness and you have a very inspiring energy, with a lot of wisdom to share.

Hi Leanda
Yes the treehouse does have access to a toilet that is protected by a closed "path". If you look on the Africa on Foot website gallery and select the Treehouse, you can see in one image the bathroom and walkway down to the bathroom.
I hope that helps.
