Beautiful location. Hosts were wonderful people, couldn't do enough for us, the Rondawel we stayed in was lovely, clean and well equipped, even the outside shower - which was wonderful. Having breakfast looking out to the Olifants River and watching the hippos wallowing was wonderful. The food produced by Dave was gourmet 5 star, Leandra would explain what we were having on each course we had and everything we ate was perfect. They were both very knowledgable on the area and Dave had set up a night camera at the bottom of his garden by a watering hole he had created and in the morning at breakfast he would show you what animals had paid him a visit on his i- pad. He also took us out in his truck around the park where we see quite a few animals. We hired a car but we did need a 4

A truly amazing experience. Starting with the warm welcome by the hosts and staff, a little but necessary reality check that we are now in wilderness -- we quickly immersed into this world of wild beauty with its wonderful flora and fauna. The extremely well maintained Emhosheni estate offers all the amenities to make the stay here most pleasant. It offers a subtle luxury that does not disturb the nature and your ‘bush’ experience. The lodges with their tasteful interior are comfy and offer stunning views. The hosts are lovely, attentive and forthcoming … be it working out a Kruger Park route for a private drive, or preparing the accompanying picnic basket for that tour and waiting with dinner when you return. Speaking of which, Dave happens to be an excellent chef

It takes some time to cover the 14km dirtroad to ERL, but once there the experience of the enthusiast and warm welcome of Dave, Leandra and their team is a real treat. The view from the lodge at the river is great, with possible surpises of passing game. The facilities as such already are comfortable, clean and very much to enjoy. On top of that, Dave and Leandra do all they can to feel their guests comfortable, in doing a spontanuous game drive as well as in - for instance - serving a nice breakfast, a very good dinner or Braai. We travelled SA for three weeks and visited several very good locations. The combination of the quality of the lodge, the view and the warm personal service by the hosts and their team made our stay at ERL the best experience of this holiday.

Emhosheni River Lodge offers a personalised, top notch safari experience. The setting on the Olifants River is marvellous, and the camp is immaculately maintained. Hosts Leandra and Dave ensure that their guests' every need is attended to. Their catering is excellent, and they make a great effort to accommodate special dietary requirements. The rooms are clean and well-appointed with comfortable beds, tea/coffee making facilities and bar fridges. The camp is electrically fenced to protect guests from the abundant wildlife that populates the river bank - one can literally watch game from one's pool lounger without needing to go on a game drive! Our family has been to numerous safari lodges over the years, and we were particularly impressed by the unique Emhosheni safari "formula"

Dear Hélène, Thank you very much for your beautiful feedback. It is a great honour to read your words of which we know are not coming from somebody with first time safari experience. Besides that people like yourself only motivate us to continue on the path we decided to follow with Emhosheni. We ourselves enjoy living here and sharing it with other people further motivates us to further preserve, conserve and improve Emhosheni. It was a pleasure to meet you and share your stories, not only on your previous accommodation/safari experience, but also on other subjects. We thoroughly enjoyed having you as our guests and are looking forward meeting you again either here or elsewhere. Warm regards to you and to your family, Leandra Hagen & Dave van Lith

Emhosheni River Lodge is a lovely small, intimate game lodge situated on the banks of the Oliphants River. We stayed in one of the 3 rondavels which were extremely well appointed, with every modern convenience from air-conditioning to hairdriers. We stayed for 3 nights. But the best attribute is the homely ambience provided by the owners Dave and Leandra. They prepare your lovely meals, drinks round the open fire and Dave takes you on game drives through their own and neighbours' animal-filled land. You feel like their special house guests. The Orpen and Phalaborwa gates to the Kruger Park are within easy reach as well. All in all a fabulous experience.
