Wonderful experience. Service, accommodation, food & game drives were fantastic. Every detail is thought of and it feels like you are part of the the family. Staff are clearly really happy in their roles and it shows. Fantastic location on the river Bank. Given was our driver and he was brilliant.

Greenfire Lodge in Balule Game Reserve provides an extraordinary experience to observe wildlife. The Lodge is located next to Kruger and there are no fences between the two preserves. The Lodge staff are exceedingly personable, attentive, and professional. This Lodge provides an opportunity to observe wildlife with an authentic safari experience. There are no paved roads (that I saw) in this preserve. The Greenfire Lodge Jeep greets you at the entrance of the Balule Reserve where you proceed to travel on dirt roads to your Lodging. If you are worried about traveling on paved roads and being in a traffic jam on a safari, then look no further…. this is the place for you. The density of wild life is not exceedingly high but that was part of the fun experience. With our guide (Victor) who was an outstanding tracker and very personable, we saw on our three night/four day safari: elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, white rhinoceroses, hippos, hyenas, wild dogs and numerous kinds of antelope like animals and numerous birds including "zazu" from lion king. There was a mama baboon and her baby hanging out on the roof of the lodge. The night drives were sensational. I can only rave about our experience. If you need transport to the lodge there are companies that will take you from Johannesburg to the preserve entry. If you have the opportunity and are looking for a less touristy-people crowded safari experience, then Greenfire is your place.

I don't know where to start. Maybe with my perfect host Carol and Nigel, who greeted me with warmth and cared for every guest for the full lenght of my stay. Or was it the impacable service and great food.. My room was beautifuly decorated, with comfy bed and pillows...and the view to the river on that so nice porch. 5 days of pure delight going from morning drives to the evening ones, each accompanied by very professionals guides to ensure the ultimate Big 5. Never a guarantee but every effort were made to acheive it....and we did it! A beautiful and very well maintained property I am looking forward to visit again. Greenfire Lodge, thank you for making dream come through.

Absolutely amazing lodge! Rooms were great: very private and with viewing deck overlooking the river. Super comfortable beds! Staff is very welcoming and the food is simple but very good! Had great game drives with Ishmael 😊 Would have loved to stayed some extra days! Hope to return some day.

Our experience of Greenfire game lodge was nothing short of exceptional. The welcome we received when we arrived was warm and welcoming and immediately we felt at home. The Lodge is located down a beautiful track within big five territory and you self drive down 10km to a meeting point where you are collected before the real off-roading begins! The access in is stunning and set the scene for a beautiful stay. The rooms are right on the river bed with expansive views, huge comfortable bed and are beautifully finished. The view overlooking the river bed was stunning and we were lucky to see Elephants and Buffalo using the riverbed from our balcony. The customer service at the lodge was second to none - when we arrived we had packed for warm weather but an unseasonably cold front with high winds greeted us for day 1 and the owners lent us coats and windbreakers for the whole stay to keep us warm on the drives. The drives themselves are stunning. We had Given as our ranger and he was sensational. He listened to what we wanted to see and not only met but exceeded our expectations with some incredible sightings. Black Rhino and African Painted Dogs (with puppies) were real highlights as we hadn’t seen them before! Lastly, we have to mention the food. It is sensational. We have food requirements for one of our party with Gluten and Vegetarian and yet the food was absolutely incredible. It was fine dining every meal to an exceptional standard. All in all, it was incredible, and a Lodge I would thoroughly recommend. If you are going to South Africa to relax, eat well, be treated as family and safari, this place is perfect.

We do not have any experience with other lodges around. Besides of great attentive hospitality and good clean rooms, we got an excellent driver/guide - all big 5 in 24 hours. For our family important - almost gurme food. We were very surprised. It was not cheap, but still good value for money. Great holiday.

What an amazing experience! I would highly recommend booking your holiday at Greenfire Game Lodge. We enjoyed our initially booked 4 night stay so much that we extended it for two more night (we were lucky they could accommodate us). I cannot say enough good things about our stay here. Carol, Nigel, and everyone who works there are friendly, accommodating, and want you stay to be as lovely and memorable as possible. During our stay, we had the pleasure of having spent time with both Chefs (Elsa and Charlotte), Cresent, Glorify, Veronica, and two of their drivers (Given and Victor). If you have food allergies or sensitivities, this is the lodge for you. I am a gluten free vegetarian. It is not an easy dietary combination when eating out, but at Greenfire Game Lodge, the Chefs (Esla (sp?) and Charlotte (who are also sisters) made every meal special for me. My meals were well though out out and curated. They never repeated a dish and the variety and creativity of the dishes was incredible. The food was delicious, not only for myself, but for my partner. They loved they food as well. So, if you are a foodie, this is the place to stay! The rooms are nice, clean, and have the most amazing views. We had many animal sightings from our balcony. Our most memorable visit was having an elephant spend over an hour by our room. Nothings beats watching nature's tv. It was so peaceful to sitting on the balcony or in the room with 180 degrees of windows facing the river between game drives. The game drives were always fun. We never knew what we were going to see and we did see the Big 5 and some of the other 5s as well (small 5, stupid 5, secret 5, etc.). We saw so many animals, even the Black Rhino (we saw the white rhinos too), which is rare to spot. We also saw a big tusker elephant with tusks almost to the ground. There are times the animals are not where you are driving at that time because they move fast and far in a short amount of time, our drivers, Given and Victor, would teach us about the plants, birds, and culture. It made every drive fun and interesting. Given and Victor are amazing at tracking the animals, which led to lion and leopard sightings. Just being out in nature looking at the landscape was beautiful, see the animals and birds were a bonus.

We spent four nights at Greenfire Game Lodge and absolutely loved every minute from the very comfortable rooms to the delicious meals and the exceptional game drives and everything in between. Nigel and Carol make every effort to ensure you have the best stay at the lodge plus they are great company themselves. Given was our game guide and he is highly skilled and competent and reads the bush and interprets it for you. There is a lovely rhythm to the day you fall in to with game drives, meals and siestas around the beautiful lodge either on the veranda, by the pool or under the trees. The bird life around the lodge is also excellent and Nigel knows his birds and is happy to help with IDs. What more can add other than I hope I can return one day for more.

Visiting green life game lodge was truly a 10/10 experience. My family and I visited the lodge in may (during South Africa’s winter season). It was a very nice experience that I would highly recommend! The lodge is located in Balule, a private part of the Kruger national park. We had our own small lodges separate from the main house, that contained a swimming pool, dining area and living room. The lodge is very cozy. I did not feel like I was at a “normal hotel”, I rather felt like I was visiting someone’s home. Carol and Nigel (the hosts and owners) greeted us and made us feel welcome. Everything from the housekeeping, to the food and service was perfect. I have to mention the great service from Veronica and Chris, and of course the two twins in the kitchen that provided us lovely meals. Our guide Victor drove us around the area and showed us all of the amazing animals. He has a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience after working at the lodge for 17 years. The best guide we could ask for. A very nice experience

Friendly hosts and staff. Love the food prepared by the chef. Great hospitality that made our stay memorable! Beautiful and comfortable common areas, and suites with balconies that overlook the jungle/wilderness. We managed to see giraffes and elephants from the balcony during our stay. We did 6 games during our stay and managed to see the big 5! Both of our guides were friendly, knowledgeable and fun. It was a very memorable experience for us. Thank you, Carol & Nigel, for the great hospitality!
