Caroline and myself really enjoyed our two night stay at Mohlabetsi lodge in the Balule Game Reserve. The lodge is small and has a very homely relaxed feel where one is able to relax on the lawns and watch game walk past. Our ranger Kelvin was able to get us some great sightings and we saw plenty of lion, where I was able to get some great shots. The staff were very friendly and attentive and were always smiling and willing to have conversations with us. The food was delicious and each meal was really enjoyed. We also enjoyed relaxing by the swimming pool and having a gin and tonic during the day. The rooms are small, but cozy with all the modern amenities one requires.
I spent a fantastic three days at Mohlabetsi with my wife and two college-age children. The food was fantastic - a very large breakfast served after the morning game drive; a tasty lunch a few hours later; and then a full dinner by the fire after the evening game drive. Service was amazing - very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a family lodge - very cute and nicely furnished. Game drives were unreal. On our first one, we watched a pride of lions track a group of impalas, and then kill and devour two of them. Our guide Sam and tracker Richard said this was very rare to see, so we felt very fortunate. Over the course of our six game drives we saw virtually every animal that lives in the area. This truly was an experience of a lifetime. Two reasons for not giving five stars: During three of our six game drives, we were accompanied by a couple with a five year-old girl who sang nursery rhymes when she was bored, and was sometimes frightened by the animals. Safaris like this are no place for young children. This detracted somewhat from our experiences in the bush. Mohlabetsi should have a minimum age for children staying at the lodge. Secondly, prior to arrival, Mohlabetsi offered to provide transportation from Hoedspruit Airport to the lodge, and back upon our departure. However, they neglected to mention any fee. So we were surprised by the $240 charge on our bill at checkout. Still, this was an amazing experience and I would recommend staying at Mohlabetsi to anyone. …
Picked up by a rancher from Hoedspruid airport we have started our 3 nights stay in Kruger National Park. Mohlabetsi lodge fully met our expectations. Bungalow, service, meals, everything was fine. Team were friendly and helpful anytime. Of course the 6 game tours were the highlight. The ranchers did their best to find the big five. And we got them. Really incredible. We would do this again immediately. Same location.
We stayed for two Nights at Mohlabetsi in March 2020. It‘s a beautiful Place. Not crowded, great food, very nice People. The Game watching drives were absolutely to recommend. Ranger Lucky and his Scout Herbert showed us in just 2 days Leopards, Lions, Black and White Rhinos, Bufallos and lots of other great animals.
The hotel is very well equiped and clean. The food is great. The game drives happen twice a day at fixed times and our two rangers were extremely kind and experienced. Once we got there, the staff informed us about the daily routin. The schedule is followed strictly and worked perfectly well during our stay. We were able to see a lot of animals during our game drives and the experience was unforgettable. There was also enough time to rest and enjoy by the pool and hammocks.
