There are simply not enough superlatives that we could ascribe to this place. We HIGHLY recommend Ezulwini for a safari vacation whether you are single, a couple, a family or a group. Ezulini has exceeded our expectations in EVERY way. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be the first foreign visitors that Ezulwini has seen since the COVID pandemic hit and have been staying here for 6 nights. We arrived in early May by road after a 3-night stay in Graskop (which we can also recommend for seeing the Panorama Route). We have also been blessed with wonderfully temperate weather (cool, dry early mornings/late evenings and warm/dry daytimes). Craig and Angele have been outstanding hosts at the River Lodge. Craig has been our driver (and he does much more) and Angele the lodge manager while we've been out on safari. Both are extremely friendly, welcoming and experienced hosts and guides. Both are also very knowledgeable about the Balule Nature Reserve (where Ezulwini Lodges is located) iand South Africa and Africa. The River Lodge is in impeccable condition and our suite is phenomenal with no detail missing. The food is incredibly delicious, plentiful and varied every day and the bar is stocked with an amazing selection of local South African wines and international and local liquors. Our days start at 5:30AM with coffee then we are out on safari from 6:00AM to 9:30AM. We return for breakfast, hang at the lodge until 2:30 for lunch and then go out at 3:30 for the afternoon/evening safari, and return at 7:00/7:30 for dinner. On safari, Craig is driver, guide and educator and Conrad is our tracker and spotter. The breadth and depth of Craig's knowledge of the flora and fauna is unrivalled. He has been a guide in South Africa for over 14 years and shares his wealth of experience freely. Conrad has the eyes of an eagle and frequently was able to find animals that were impossibly disguised in the bush. Together the two were the dynamic safari duo. We have seen all of the wild animals that we had hoped to see and also had the fortune of some incredibly up-close-and-personal elephant, lion and white rhino sightings. We would also like to make a special call out to Frances (based in the UK) and Lauren (based at Ezulwini). Frances was our liaison with Ezulwini lodges during the period leading up to our arrival. She is incredibly gracious, informative and prompt with her email responses. She went to great lengths to assist us with preparing for the trip, including assisting us with several re-schedulings due to COVID-related flight cancellations. Lauren was also extremely helpful and even hosted a very special white-table-cloth sundowner in our honor replete with local wine, gin, fruits, cheeses and other appetizers. Looking for an outstanding safari vacation, well look no further than Ezulwini Lodges. You will NOT be disappointed.

Dear ElVaquerodeAustin, thank you very much for letting us know that you had an amazing time at Ezulwini River Lodge and thank you very much for your kind words. Everyone at Ezulwini was looking forward to seeing you there as the first of our dear friends from the USA to visit since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, especially at this very difficult time for everyone around the world when travel is not the easiest of things to do. We are so glad that you decided to make the trip. It was our pleasure to host you both and we have passed your lovely comments on to the team, they will be so happy to know that they have made your time there so special. Please keep in touch and you will always be welcome to come back to the Ezulwini Family should you wish to return at some point in the future. Take care and best wishes.

Wonderstruck is too weak a word to describe our time at Ezulwini Game Lodges. If you are looking for an UNFORGETTABLE safari experience, Ezulwini IS your find! Our stay began with two nights at River Lodge. Glory, our hostess, couldn’t have been more welcoming when greeting us the afternoon we arrived. She quickly got us briefed on everything we needed to know and showed us our rondavel, assuring our bags would be waiting for us when we returned. We were just in time for our first evening game drive! With Lorence as our guide and Richard our tracker, we quickly realized we were in excellent hands. Our four game drives with Lorence and Richard were almost too incredible to believe: leopard, lions, teenaged elephants playing in a watering hole (completely ignoring us and totally annoying a hippo who wanted the water all to himself), zebra, giraffe, rhinos, warthogs! We were inside a National Geographic experience - awestruck each drive. Billy’s Lodge was just as lovely as River Lodge. Our host Knox and his team with Sue took excellent care of us, just as Glory and her team had. Our guide and tracker, Hector and Conrade showed us the last of the big 5, Cape Buffalo - and the elusive Black Rhino! Hector and Conrade even managed to get us font row to a lion kill! Topping that was an incredible braii under a super harvest moon. We are HUGE fans of South African barbecue now! Truly it is the staff at the lodges that take Ezulwini that one step beyond exceptional. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary while at Ezulwini and each lodge took extra measures to make us feel like royalty - our beds strewn with bright pink bougainvillea and sparkling wine chilling for us our final night at the lodge. There is no question your stay at Ezulwini will be the trip of a lifetime. It certainly was for us. DOs DO go on every drive you can - each is different! DO bring layers - the evening and early morning drives can be cool, depending on time of year DO go out to the overlooks - you may see monkeys, you may see impala, you may see warthogs, and more and more and more! DO consider driving in from Johannesburg along the panoramic route with Mr. Shuttle. It is a lengthy, beautiful ride worth the time. DON’Ts DON’T FORGET A GOOD CAMERA! A phone can get some good photos, they really can. Nothing compares to a real body camera, though. Shooting on auto is just fine! You might want to put the shutter on boost. ;-) DON’T expect to schedule your sightings, animals don’t keep appointments. You WILL have marvelous unique experiences. Ezulwini’s guides and trackers are EXCELLENT - trust in them and hold on, you’ve never been on a ride like this!

A friend and I stayed at Ezulwini game lodge last August for six nights. We spent three nights in each of the two lodges. I absolutely loved the game drives and all of the beautiful and amazing animals I saw. The terrain, sunrises and sunsets were also breathtaking. The staff, the food and the accommodations all added to the wonderful, memorable, life enriching experience.

My husband and I had the most amazing stay at Billy’s Lodge. The lodge itself is luxurious, the staff so friendly and welcoming and the game drives superb. We had the most exciting game drives going off road seeing a leopard hunt, lions and elephant to name but a few. I couldn’t recommend this place enough!!

My husband and I have just returned from what can only be described as a first class magical safari experience once again. This is our second visit to River Lodge since August/Sep last year. We decided to go away for my husbands birthday weekend and chose to go back to River Lodge as we absolutely loved it there. I felt it truly deserved yet another review from me. We stayed for 4 nights. Ezulwini River Lodge is truly special due to so many things. From the world class service of every member of staff, to the delicious food and incredible game drives. The accomadation is five star and the rooms are beautiful and well maintained and extremely clean. Each room is positioned in it's own beautiful setting. Our guide Lorence and our tracker Richard are the most professional and highly knowledgable team. They made our game drives so special, we saw all the big five, it was spectacular. If you are looking for true South African hospitality in a 5 star safari experience, then I highly recommend River Lodge. Thank you once again to Angie, Craig, Gloria and Eddie, Lorence and Richard and the rest of the entire team, you all truly are a special group of people who made this trip truly memorable for us.
