#3 of 18 in Balule Nature Reserve
Owner/Manager team Steve & Nicole Baillie would like to invite you to visit Toro Yaka Bush Lodge. This special lodge is nestled in the heart of the Balule Nature Reserve, a 38 000 hectare conservancy, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park area. ToroYaka means “My Dream” in Northern Sotho, one of South Africa’s local languages, and the creation of Toro Yaka Bush Lodge has fulfilled the dreams of Steve and Nicole, by establishing a haven of peace and tranquility from which to share their passion for nature. The lodge has been designed in a modern elegant style, with a relaxed atmosphere, allowing guests to sit back, relax and feel at home. The four en-suite double rooms ensure tranquillity and comfort at all times. Steve is now a trainer/instructor in a nearby reserve, you might see him during your stay. Nicole is a qualified holistic massage therapist and takes care of all the tiny details. Amore is at Nicole's side assisting in the runnings of the lodge. Mike, your guide, has been working as a guide for a decade. His passion and enthusiasm for nature is inspiring. Together with the Toro Yaka Staff, they will ensure your stay to be a memorable one. Balule is home to a large variety of plants and animals. From the smallest spider to the largest elephant, from the tiniest flower to a 1000-year-old leadwood tree, owls at night and eagles by day, every aspect of the ecosystem is explored. The Olifants River, which flows year-round through the Balule, is home to hippos and crocodiles, and the whole area is one of scenic splendour, with the northern tip of the Drakensberg mountain range being visible from many points. Together with all of this, Toro Yaka Bush Lodge offers you good home-cooked food, friendly service, warm South African Hospitality and loads of enthusiasm

My husband and I just visited Toro Yaka for a weekend, it was AMAZING!! If you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful and boutique experience then you can’t do any better. Nicole is the owner and offers awesome, personalized stay - you will feel like the only guest! She is highly professional, her whole team is the same - not intrusive but everything is thought of and no intrusion. Our game ranger was George, just brilliant - knowledgeable, kind and amazing personality. Food - brilliant and fresh! Rooms - very clean, very fresh and comfortable. The size of this Lodge, very small, is what makes it - you feel home. An absolute winner! We will be back to Toro Yaka many times, thanks Nicole and Team!! See you again!

Toro Yaka Bush Lodge is the most beautiful place we’ve been while travelling in South Africa. Everyone was so kind with us! We stayed there for only 2 nights and wish we could have stayed more... Nicole welcomed us so warmly and always prepared delicious meals even though François had so many allergies! Thank you Nicole and to all of your crew ! The room, the outside shower, the pool ... Paradise on earth... Mike was amazing, taking us 2 times per day on safaris! He taught us a lot about wild life, and thanks to him, few days later, on a self drive game in the Kruger we managed to stay calm when nervous elephants crossed our road. We simply followed his advices and the elephant changed his mind about attacking us, fortunately ! We loved Mike ! And of course they planned all

The rave reviews of Toro Yaka are very well deserved! My husband and I spent 4 nights of our honeymoon here, and wish we had extended our stay! Communication from the beginning was exceptional, and from the minute we arrived, we knew we were in good hands. From the large comfortable & clean rooms, amazing food, excellent hospitality and of course the incredible game drives, everything was absolutely fantastic! We now understand the addiction of safaris, and are now dreaming of when we can come back! Thank you to Toro Yaka and the amazing staff for making our honeymoon so special!

We didn't have any idea what to expect before arriving here. We booked our safari through our travel agent and were happy to see what luck brought... Well we were pleasantly surprised with the level of professionalism, friendliness and the great comfort that we encountered as we entered the premise. Then to top it off we had the best game drives possible.. The knowledge that both Michael and Steve had was so reassuring on the drives and we even did a walking safari where we encountered elephantsl, giraffes and zebras to name a few. Each drive was eventful and exciting. Each meal was delicious and worthy of top notch restaurant quality with a home made feel. The staff were beyind nice and pleasant...and Nicole made us feel part of the family... Don't even think about it twice.

We chose to spend 6 nights at Toro Yaka and I’m so glad that we did. The lodge - ticks all the boxes. There is a pool for the hotter days which looks over a watering hole where you will see all sorts of wildlife passing by - including a elephants! The rooms where comfortable and a good size with 2 showers (one outside and one inside) and a balcony. The outside shower is a fantastic feature allowing you to view the night sky and look at the stars while you wash. The bed was comfortable and also had a mosquito net, however the lodge is also sprayed with insect repellent. Staff - made you feel like family. By the end of our stay the lodge felt like home. Nothing was ever too much trouble and a fantastic guest experience was provided. Food - outstanding. Nicole clearly puts a

The 4 days at Toro Yaka were full of activities and excitement, Amore and Mike were fantastic hosts that made you feel as part of the family. The staff is very friendly and respectful. The food, service and accommodations were first class. Mike was excellent guide/animal tracker with lots of experience and passion for nature. The whole experience is worth remembering for the years to come. We highly recommend Toro Yaka for your African bush and game adventure.

Well named Toro Yaka. My stay with you was a real dream. Continuous attention from everyone in the lodge is the reason why I felt like home from my arrival to my check out. Garden and swimming pool are such peaceful places. Rooms are spacious and comfortables. Well cared for property by Brenda, Genette and Tilapi. For sure I will remember our awesome game drives with Mike and Brandon. And last but not least, food is exceptionnal. Thank you very much Nicole for those unforgetables moments in your bush paradise. We stayed here for 3 nights in Feb 2018 with our daughter and her partner and we couldn't fault the place. Nicole & her team are without exception professional, friendly, helpful and clearly love what they do. The accommodation was sumptuous and the food was truly delicious (think Fine Dining) and nothing was too much trouble. There are only 6 suites here, so it's all about the personal touches. We gave the guys something of a challenge, with 2 vegetarians in our group, but they rose triumphantly to it - even making mushroom biltong would you believe?! The game drives were out of this world. we were practically tripping over giraffes on our first drive! Each evening drive, we stopped for 'sundowners' with the drink of our choice pre-ordered. We took pleasure in watching

This is a beautiful resort with incredible staff. Nicole does an incredible job managing. We felt very at home and have already recommended it to friends. The game drives with Mike were awesome. He's been doing this for a long time and it shows. The new truck was incredibly comfortable compared to other game drives. Definitely stay here.
