If you would like a real bush walk with possible close animal encounters we can strongly recommend Chacma. Luan is an fantastic ranger, who knows what he is doing. You feal safe in his company. Luans knowledge of the animals and the area is enormous. Luan and his team gave us the most amazing bush walk, with great respect for the animals. Wonderful food in the bush, and later wonderful barbecue on open fire in the camp every night. The service lever is the best. Thank you!
Of three camps on this trip, I thought this setting the most appealing. The buildings were rock construction, landscaping fit perfectly. A maintained water hole attracted lots of wildlife right to the patio! You could sit and enjoy animal antics for hours. The management staff we met were helpful and very pleasant.
Being at Chacma bush camp after a long lockdown period was definitely refreshing...Clean,warm,welcoming cottages with Eddie and Shirley who were very friendly hosts. There was Collins who talked about his experiences as a tracker during lunch and dinner.Eddie and Collins went out of the way to make our safari experience wonderful. When we spotted a lion near the waterhole at the dinner area, they happily took us on s short drive at night to see if we can track the lion. They slso walked into the bushes for a bit and used their expertise to move the lions towards our line of sight.Quite exciting! We missed a kill but the kids got to see the animals in action. Our youngest who is 4 got to go on the early morning and evening safari as we were a group of 7 members and he was fairly quiet for 3+ hours of safari. So the experience in all was enjoyable. We also had a child with gluten free requirements and it was catered to.The pool kept the kids busy between the safari trips! …
OK so where should I start. Probably with the best two guides in the business. Keegan and Marko where just outstanding. Friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and above all we felt safe and confident in their hands. They expertly guided us around the reserve and we were treated to some amazing experiences. These included having a pride of 7 or so lions surrounding the landcruiser, tracking down a leopard and a night time encounter with Elephants. We saw the big 5 and will never forget that. We are also interested in birds and the knowledge the guys showed in this area was amazing as well. The camp itself is lovely and all the staff so welcoming. The food also was excellent and tucking in to a hearty breakfast after a 4:30am start for the morning drive was a treat. I would not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone wanting a real experience with wild animals. Simply outstanding …
An incredible 4 days at Chacma & the Maseke reserve. We saw lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocs etc and an unbelievable number of exotic birds. Highlights? A gigantic white rhino built like a tank during day and night drives, a battle-scarred Hyena hiding in the bush and, on the final night while travelling back to camp, a beautiful female Leopard no further than 10m from the Land Cruiser! Awesome to see this beautiful creature. The terrain is rugged & tough, so don’t expect tarmac or paving; this adds to the safari experience. You get a vehicle that’s designed to get over more or less anything and built to seat 9+ comfortably. The vantage points for the regular drink & snack breaks are quite simply stunning. Whether it’s the distant Drakensburg mountains to the south or flat bush covered land as far as the eye can see to the east, you’ll be spoilt for great photo opportunities. The weather was mid 40’s during our stay, tough for pasty skinned Brits like us, but if your sensible and wary of the African sun, you’ll survive it! The UV is different in the part of the world! The guides and trackers are incredibly knowledgable, friendly & articulate who are willing to give their time to answer the silliest questions from Europeans than know next-to-nothing about the natural environment in the Greater Kruger. The camp itself is a quiet oasis set beside a small dam that was frequented by a herd of elephants several times during our stay. To see them so close, drink in hand, on a sun lounger was surreal! There are three air-conditioned lodges at camp, perfectly proportioned with enough distance between each lodge to provide privacy when you want it. Very comfortable & cosy, particularly at night when if you’re lucky, you can hear lions calling in the distance. The food was tasty and in-keeping with the environment, so no fuss or endless menu choice - the way if should be. You get what’s provided, and that was more than good enough for us. Kudos to the guides, trackers, management & crucially the back of house team (chefs, rooms etc), a top notch experience. Well done all!!!!…
Really loved our stay at Chacma Bush Camp. Such a lovely place with amazing staff. The game viewing was incredible for first time safari. We had 3 nights in total but didnt want to leave! The pictures on the website are really accurate and we hade the fortune to witness a heard of elephants coming to the watering hole. A special thanks to Collins and Marko for answering all our 1000 questions about the wildlife. We learnt so much! Love, Shabbis, Mellis, Addis, Fillis
Perfect location to unwinded. This is a hidden gem of the bushveld. Great experience. Great game drive. Best Leopard sightseeing ever. I would highly recommend Chacma Bush Camp. The rooms are super clean. Thanks to all the staff for a great experience
If your on the fence of doing an African safari and not sure where to do it, this is the place! Chacma looks even more beautiful in person than the pictures. Every detail was made perfect by the staff. It couldn’t have been any better. Walking trails was the coolest experience. Keegan was an AMAZING guide, full of knowledge and kept us all feeling super safe when walking through the bush. He also gave us so many good laughs throughout our trip, So thankful to have him as our guide. Godfrey and James prepared our camp sight so when we got back from trails we could sit down and relax by the warm fire, or even take a hot shower. The food they prepared for us on the fire blew our minds!! It was so tasty!! Honestly the food was one of my favorite parts of my trip. Staying at the lodge was also amazing . Cherie and AD were very warm and welcoming and made you feel like you were at home. Troil and Taboo made our experience at the lodge awesome too because they are also amazing chefs , serving us basically 5 star meals every night. There wasn’t one thing made that wasn’t tasty. The sightings were so cool. We got to see pretty much everything - including a sighting of 15 plus lions. Cubs, females and males . There is nothing like going to Chacma and going on an African Safari!! You will not regret it.…
Wow! What an amazing experience. From the second we arrived in this beautiful location to the second we left, we where taken care of by Cherie the camp manager and the exceptional staff. Our very knowledgeable and dedicated guides Keegan and Anthony went the extra mile and demonstrated great professionalism both on our walking trails and game drives. The wonderful sighting and well prepared food help make this a memorable safari. The pleasant kitchen staff and chefs went out of their way to ensure we had a bushveld feast each meal. Sundowners on game drives and night time stories around the campfire were amongst our favorites experiences. All in all our expectations where surpassed and we highly recommend Chacma Bush Camp.
