Travellers' Choice
Pungwe is a small intimate authentic safari camp which brings back the essence of a true safari experience. Our comfortable en-suite meru-style tents are reminiscent of days when safaris were all about the sights, sounds and smells of the bush. Our camp is about the bush, the animals, the unique experiences and the subsequent regaling of these by the iconic fireside. Pungwe Safari Camp is situated in the southern part of the 22 000 hectare Big 5 Manyeleti Reserve. Pungwe shares unfenced boundaries with two world renowned reserves, the Sabi Sand Reserve to the south and the Kruger National Park to the east, allowing for free movement of wildlife between the three reserves. This ensures that Pungwe's guests will be privy to some spectacular game viewing without having to share the sightings with numerous other visitors. Our guided morning walking safaris put you in touch with the bush, immerses you in your surroundings and enable you to encounter wildlife at a unique level. Our afternoon/evening game drives ensure that your sightings are up-close and personal. The perfect combination to create lasting memories. The 4 en-suite meru-styled tents at Pungwe offer simple elegant comfort, security, hot and cold running water for baths or showers and an exceptional feeling of truly being in the African bush. Only under canvas will you not only hear, but feel the roar of the lion, the throaty cough of a leopard and the Fiery Necked Nightjar celebrating the night.

Me and my friends stayed here in June 2013 and had the most amazing experience! The place is really clean, secluded and peaceful... The couple who run the place made our stay absolutely wonderful... The long walks around the bushes finished with amazing food made our vacation truly worthwhile... :)

We were lucky, we were the only guest during our stay in July 2013. The hostst and the rest of the staff was very friendly. We had a great time with our tracker & ranger. The rooms are very nice. In winter it can be very cold. They heat up the watertank when you are on your gamedrive, so you are able to take a shower afterwards, but there's no lights, only oillamps. There was more than enough food. Take care of the monkeys :). An experience you will never never forget.

We stayed at Pungwe for a total of five nights and loved it! The morning bush walks were excellent, as were the night drives, and we learned so much from our wonderful guides Isaac and Never (thank you for your patience, guys!). The food was superb; basic, local and delicious. The tent was brilliantly simple and extremely comfortable, and the night sounds incredible (never knew an elephant could walk so quietly, nor that a lion's roar isn't quite a roar...). Morning coffee and rusks by the fire with our brilliant host is something we'll remember for years to come! With respect and admiration (and hope to be back soon), Two Finns.

Pungwe bush camp is a great place to be to experience the African bush! Both game walks and game drives are offered and the well educated field guides are very friendly, helpfull and explained a lot about nature & wildlife. The small setting of the camp makes it extra cosy and special. We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back one day! Thank you for everything!

We stayed in the camp for 2 nites. We had a lovely tent-chalet and it was really romantic place. Food was really nice / breakfast and dinner- no lunch, just snack / . We had 2 morning walks in bush and one nite drive game. It was really nice, the best are the morning walks. We met there nice people from Holland. Chalets are quite far from each other, so didnt have extra safe feeling during nite. Do not leave any food there- it attract animals, we havent slept for 1 nite:) Food is great, service is great and u will enjoy the bush and will see plenty of animals.
