after several days on a small boat on the Chobe River (to which all the animals came down to drink) we spent 3 or 4 nights at Tintswalo. There is a watering hole off the lodge deck and twice daily whole elephant families, only 10 feet away, would come to drink. Each couple or family slept in a separate lodge, each with its own shower and deck, and separated enough that one could not see or hear the next lodge. Morning breakfasts and dinners were bountiful and delicious, and each evening's jeep safari was interrupted by an impromptu stop for gin and tonic. The trekkers and guides were completely familiar with the animals: one evening our guide heard a nearby distress cry from a zebra. We were made to pile back into the jeeps and a 3 minute ride away came across a pride of lions tearing into the steaming body of a zebra; even as a large hippo watched the bloody feast for a few minutes before ambling away. Would I go again? in a heartbeat.

This lodge and resort in The Manyeleti is a good and exclusive as one can find. There are 8 separate “suites”, individual buildings with a huge lobby, bar and elephant water station just off the deck. My family came for my wife’s 60th birthday and rented the “Manor House”. There are 5 bedrooms and the house includes a chef (Linda - male), Butler (Patience - female), cleaning staff, two game drives per day with amazing guide Daniel and tracker (Pardon). I cannot find enough superlatives to describe the food, schedule, game drives, views, hosting, wildlife and experience. I, honestly, have never had a better experience and our family ranged in age from 4 months to 77 years, including newlyweds and high schoolers. 5 stars is not enough.

We spent a wonderful family Christmas here with staff who felt like family when we left.
We were incredibly well looked after and had some unbelievable game viewings. The guides all work together to ensure that as large an area as possible is covered so absolutely nothing is missed. There are so many special touches everywhere and the staff are all incredibly attentive.
Our luggage didn’t arrive with us and that could have made for a very stressful situation. Luckily they have a very well stocked shop which added to our very limited wardrobe. It was challenging but they took the stress out of the whole thing by constantly calling the airline (thanks to Tamsyn & Mimi) & then arranging for it all to be transported back to the lodge as & when it arrived.
We’ll be back folks

Where do we start! Our stay at Tintswalo was the most dreamy experience! We cannot say enough good things about our stay. The staff went above and beyond to give us the experience of a lifetime - very attentive and kind. Our room, pool, and patio had a wonderful view of the pathway the elephants took to get to the watering hole. We saw elephants passing by all day just meters away! The game drives are incredible, our guides Daniel and Pardon were the best and extremely knowledgeable, we felt truly immersed in the bush and amongst the animals, while still respecting them and their space. Daniel positioned us to allow a lot of the animals to come to us, and they did, rather than forcing the experience or making them uncomfortable. The respect Daniel and Pardon had for them was a huge standout for us, as not all guides at other lodges follow this rule. The food was incredible, as were the variety of settings we went to for brunch or dinner. Lonic always looked out for us and what we wanted, with a mimosa in hand for when we returned from morning drives. The turndown service was personal, with notes written by our housekeeper and towel animals on our bed! If you are looking for a dream safari experience, being surrounded by the kindest people and feeling like a part of the family at the end of your trip, this is the lodge for you.

Tintswalo truly goes above and beyond to create a personalized luxurary Safari experience.
The safari drives were such a fun experience. Our guide Dave and tracker Wellcent were very knowledgeable, friendly, and down to explore every part of the reserve to help us spot the most animals. The suites and the lodge in its entirety were decorated with the most beautifully curated collection of African inspired furniture and art. We truly felt submerged in the spirit of the bush.
The food was also delicious. There was a large variety of options offered during each meal, including more traditional and local delicacies.
Overall, we had the best honeymoon! We can't wait until we are lucky enough to come back and visit Tintswalo.

We stayed for three nights in mid-June 2023, and we travelled as two couples (50s/60s). While we hoped the Baine Presidential Suite would be the highlight of our trip, unfortunately it was not.

We experienced a number of serious issues which required both onsite and post-visit escalation, including to the CEO of the Tintswalo Group.

We reached a resolution, including promises that no other guests should ever experience what we did, so we do not want to sound too negative.

We would however recommend anyone thinking of thinking of staying in that particular suite dig deeply into what the experience will be including meals (prepared in the main kitchen and brought to the suite, fully prepared in the suite or something else, are they served buffet style or plated etc); drinks and mini-bar (what is the process for having things you like on hand, what specific items cost extra – not vague “premium or speciality”), condition of the suite (recent, dated photos would be useful), butler (is the person a restaurant waiter doing their best or a properly trained butler), flexibility (if you want something other than 3 meals a day how does it work).

The safaris were tailored to what we wanted which was to find the elusive leopard and which we achieved twice so a big thank you to our tracker and guide.

Tintswalo Game Lodge was an amazing experience from the spectacular game viewing to the beautiful rooms, to the delicious food served in various locations. The guides and trackers were knowledgeable and interesting and worked hard to find animals to view. Our housekeeper came twice a day and made us feel very cared for and spoiled. The staff worked hard to make every meal interesting and delicious. This was an incredible experience and one we will always remember. We feel very grateful to have experienced Tintswalo and all it had to offer.

This place is truly incredible – from the game drives, to the meals (ask for the turkey burgers!), to the hospitality and friendliness of every employee, to the cleanliness, to the attention to detail for everything (we had a gluten & dairy-free family member, and everyone made sure she felt included by cooking the same meals but accomodating to her restrictions!), all the way to facility itself!

Tintswalo provided a personalized touch with everything they did: from the quick check-in chats with staff members to ensure that they were providing the best service, to the daily towel animal figurines left each day in our room. The food is delicious and you are always kept well fed and in beautiful and notable locations. The safari drives were typically quite private, often going the full drive without seeing another vehicle. The safari guide ranger and tracker excelled at locating and personalizing sightings, and you often can see game at the lodge while you are in your room or eating a meal. Overall Tintswalo delivers on providing a lasting sense of tintswalo ('the intangible feeling of peace, love and gratitude') and you will truly feel a part of their family by the end of your stay.

I couldn’t have greater things to say about our trip to tinswalo lodge in south africa. My wife and I went for our honeymoon and our expectations were far exceeded in every aspect. The rooms were cleaned daily and were spacious, the game drives were incredible and the staff was attentive and informative with whatever help we might need. Dan, Pardon, and Tamsyn made our honeymoon one that we will cherish for our lifetimes. Thank you again Tinswalo Lodge!

How many guests ride in the jeeps during a game drive?
Answer from chuck382

It depends on which properties you are going to visit. I have found after 15 + stays at Tintswalo properties that there isn't a hard fast rule. It usually depends on how busy they are, who arrives when, how many are in your party. They try not to crowd the vehicles.

Hi Larry, As our friends have already recommended, pack for layered clothing. May is the beginning of Winter here, but the days are mild. Have warm jackets for your morning and evening game drives, but we'll keep you warm too, with hot water bottles, blankets, and steaming coffee! Remember a hat and sunglasses, our southern hemisphere sun can be harsh. We can't wait to host you, Larry, see you in May!

We saw everything! Within our first five minutes out saw a lioness with her cubs. Saw a pair of cheetahs and both a male and female leopards on two separate occasions within three days.

Jwb answered this well. But I will say one of the best drives that we had during our stay was at night. We chased a leopard and ran into 3 lionesses in the pitch black. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Alistair and Foster were the BEST driver/tracker team.

Sorry -- just seeing this question. We flew into the larger airport and yes there was a fee. All non-premium alcohol is included. BTW, you will love this place. The lion prides are on Face Book so you can follow them after leaving. Really cool
