We stayed here for three nights and had an amazing time. The room was beyond luxurious and the heated plunge pool meant that we could truly relax in our own space between safaris. The wildlife wandering through the lodge grounds as well as drinking from our plunge pool as we sat and watched from only a few metres away made this an idyllic location The lunches were to die for!! Each day we were spoilt with a selection of several different items including meat, fish and veggies with varying flavours. Every time we were happy even if it included things that we would never have actually ordered. The presentation was also fantastic. I have forgotten the lunch chefs name, but kudos to her. Evening meals were an experience rather than being particularly impressive. Sadly the chef had a tendency to ruin a good meal by adding half a dozen unnecessary ingredients, hence the 4 stars because at this price the food should be faultless Our guide and tracker - Fred and Christopher - were great fun and made sure we saw some amazing wildlife sightings. We would definitely stay here again and indeed we are currently looking at dates in 2021

Each person who visits Dulini is made to feel like an important guest. The service was perfect and the staff was so friendly. Each morning, we were given a wake-up call at 5am to begin our safari at 5:30am. Our ranger and tracker were so knowlegable. Each day was a real adventure and an education about the animals.
There are only 6 rooms at this hotel, so there are a maximum of 12 guests, which was condusive to friendly conversation with other guests. The hotel also provided a barbeque one night for all the guests to dine together.
The evening safari was from about 4:40pm until about 8:30. Sunset refreshments were provided out on the safari.
Lodging is very comfortable. At one point, while we were sitting on our back deck, an elephant came up to our room to graze on some foliage. We were very entertained!
In general, our experience was magical. This was our first safari, and it was so much better than we could have imagined!

What an amazing stay at this gorgeous lodge. From the moment the delightful Poppy greets you on arrival to the time you reluctantly leave, every moment is superb. The accommodation is outstanding (love the plunge pool), the staff brilliant. We felt totally safe during this pandemic time and our excellent butler Chris brought all our wonderful meals to us for in-room dining. And then there were the incredible game drives. We were able to arrange private drives (at extra cost) and aced it by getting Dave as our driver ranger and Tim as our spotter ranger. Can't say enough about how amazing these two were and how many wonderful memories they created for us. We were continuing on to Dulini River lodge and were lucky to keep them with us for that stay as well. The drives are so well coordinated with a controlled number of vehicles per viewing. You can also off-road which is perfect. We had sensational sightings including large numbers of leopard, elephant and even cheetah. It was a dream stay.

This is our first return to Dulini Moya since it’s refurb last year, and what a beautiful and thoughtful renovation. A place that we love and hold dear in our hearts has been made even better! Each of the spacious rooms (which are the size of a generous apartment) now have enhanced glass sliding doors that ‘bring the bush in’ to your room. The decor remains true to the African bush but oozes sophistication and taste. We have always loved the plunge pool on the deck (which our Californian neighbours for the week had the excitement of seeing an elephant take a long satisfying drink from theirs!), and we loved nothing more than spending a contented few hours on the deck and in and out the room every day between game drives, watching the abundant wildlife in the river bed, enjoying a private lunch served in our room and all the other amenities on offer.

The main reception, dining, lounge and boma areas have also had a substantial refit, and provide a beautiful, relaxed and stylish outlook over the lovely Lodge garden. My one regret was not spending enough time in the new cosy Winter Lounge (we enjoyed very mild winter weather), and the new cellar which stocks some really interesting wines. Next time …!

But the real lure of the Bush is getting up close and personal to the wildlife. And this is where Dulini is at its absolute best! We had the privilege of driving with rangers Neil and Jem, trackers Bright and Observe (both very fitting names) and owner-managers Sue and Iain, who all embodied the deep knowledge of and passion for the Bush that is characteristic of the Lodge. Every drive was a new treat. Learning about the Lion Dynamics of the Sabi Sands bush (we now call it Gangs of Sabi!), understanding the social dynamics and issues faced by multiple groups that could turn into full prides, two leopard kills, a cheetah kill, multiple rhino, and to cap it all the elusive Wild Dogs, were the clear highlights. But game drives are also a lot more about the ambience created, the stories told, the patience to listen and wait, and the perseverance to go the extra mile, and our Dulini guides and trackers got to know each of us and made the drives especially memorable. The vehicles seat no more than 6 guests which make them very comfortable and provide excellent views from every seat. The onboard binoculars, hot water bottles and lovely blankets every morning in the vehicle are also very welcome touches.

Catering at the Lodge was outstanding. We loved the delicious breakfasts, the beautifully presented lunch platters, and the different themes each evening. We were spoilt in having a champagne candlelit dinner in our room, and the butlers, chefs and hostesses made us feel right at home.

We left feeling renewed in our spirits after 4 lovely nights at the Lodge, and looking forward to our next visit to Dulini.

We have visited Dulini Moyo twice and each time it has been more lovely than we could ever have imagined. The rooms were a tasteful combination of elegance and comfort, with so many personal touches. The detail put into the room left me longing to have more time to take it all in and enjoy it to its fullest. Just some of my favorites: the splash pool, kept at perfect temperature, over looking a river bed, the ceiling high curtains separating the different areas of the room created a fairytale feeling, outdoor shower, Victorian bath, even the aroma in the room was divine.
The game viewing could not have been better, each guest was asked what they would like to see and Jem and Bright ensured no one was disappointed.
Every meal was a wonderful surprise, a new venue and a wide variety of choices served in an interesting and classy manner. Not to mentioned the wonderful James who made you feel completely at home and cared for.
Our wish is to visit again and for everyone we love to experience this remarkable experience.

We have travelled extensively, yet we can claim without fear of contradiction that the Dulini lodge experience epitomizes service excellence. The management and staff leave no stone unturned to make the customer king: Poppy, Ezekiel and their team at reception made us feel immediately welcome, the porters took our car to the parking and took all our stuff (this was our first stop) to the room. The chalet was huge and super- luxe with every imaginable convenience. We loved how the housekeeping was totally unobtrusive yet immaculate.
Then there was the dining...... one runs out of superlatives to describe chef Altus's expertise in the kitchen. He puts together the sort of fine dining in the bush(with good portions!) that one can only marvel at. His waiters, Aubrey and Chris, are super well-trained The game drives were an experience in themselves with super-knowledgeable guide, Jem and tracker, Chris who did everything they could to let us see as many amazing sights as possible. Owner, Iain Garrett and his wife Sue were the absolute perfect hosts. We salute them and their team!

I was thinking whether we should write a review on our stay at Dulini MOYA, but having read the feedback from the owners (who in our opinion are very defensive to their guests) we were unsure whether they would actually take our feedback and other feedback seriously or argue back and write long winded paragraphs to defend their property.
I decided to go ahead anyway as you have a certain expectation when you pay circa £2,000+ a night!
Rooms beautiful without a doubt.
Safari and rangers and transportation used - amazing!
The food was of very very poor standard.
The server was out of his depth, didn’t listen to what we ordered and wine was served warm.
The food and beverage should be faultless. The chefs and sommelier should come and say hello and introduce themselves, ask about dietary requirements, what wines we might like etc. Have an excitement about coming back to dinner or lunch. The food is a mash up of different offerings. It needs to be simple, fresh food thats light on your stomach pre game drive.
Improvement needed and depending on your reply…well we may or may not come back but after reading your responses to other guests I’d advise you to take it constructively. You surely want your guests to return? If you don’t then you are doing a good job of not just keeping the leopards away. Hospitality coaching is number one on your list Dulini owners.

Dear Miss Dine A poor review is always difficult to receive as we do pride ourselves in offering the best safari vacation we can. It is truly regrettable that you did not enjoy our food and beverage service, which is critical to a luxury holiday. We take every review extremely seriously and you can rest assured that your opinion is valued and will be applied as we use it to investigate the less-than-stellar experience you describe. This is not our standard and we can only reassure you that your complaint does not fall on deaf ears. You are absolutely correct: “Hospitality coaching is number one on (our) list as Dulini owners". Ok but not worth the money. Food was ok for adults, zero options though for anyone, you get what your given and certainly not suitable food for kids. Staff really attentive to begin with but they soon lose interest if you don’t tip them high enough or when you’re leaving. Safari was really good but you don’t get a choice in where you fo or what you see which is what our agent said, you follow the same routes day in day out with a couple of different tracks but not as diverse as it could be. No activities to do in the break between safaris which isn’t good for kids, you can have a massage and that’s it. Lots of money for what it is, cashing in heavily on safaris but this reserve looked way better than Kruger which is a glorified free for all safari park!

Response from Jaryd Povall, Sales at Dulini Moya
Responded 22 Mar 2023
Dear Donna C It is truly regrettable that your stay at Dulini did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves in offering our guests a memorable safari and so, are saddened by the fact that we were unable to achieve this for you and your family. Our lodges are an extension of who we are and the philosophy of authentic safari that we stand for. Hence, all feedback is prioritised and of value to us in growing our team, who are extremely proud of the excellence we aim for. We are always grateful to reflect on where we may have under-performed and have used your feedback as a point of departure to address the issues raised. Yours is an extremely low rating and it is only fitting that we put your criticisms in context. Firstly, I would like to clarify that Dulini Moya was not the Dulini camp you stayed at. Nonetheless, all three of our camps are boutique destinations specialising in the curation of an intimate and personal experience. The cuisine offered at Dulini lodges is an integral part of the overall safari experience. Our team of highly trained chefs, headed by an extremely experienced executive chef, designs five star menus to delight all palates and showcase an outstanding blend of pan African flavours, delectably prepared in fresh style. A chef is on duty at every meal to present the menu and accommodate any personal dietary alternatives. Children are particularly important guests who we delight in catering for in nourishing ways that appeal more simply to their tastes. Snacks are offered on both morning and evening drives, as well as in the suites. Should there be any need for further sustenance, our kitchens are equipped to manage any requests during the course of the day. There is absolutely no need to bring extra snacks! We are devastated that you claim our staff are driven by tipping. This is not the case as no gratuities exchange hands during your fully inclusive stay. In fact, it is written in our published policy that gratuities are not expected or solicited and are entirely at the guest’s discretion on departure. Our staff are renowned for their sincerity. The lodge you stayed at accommodates only 8 guests and is serviced by a compliment of staff including a manager, chef, and personal butler dedicated to the detail of every guest, each day. Our staff are the heartbeat of the Dulini personality. Brick and mortar can only shelter you, but it is the people that serve zealously that weave the magic of your experience. And it is this level of consistent service that most of our guests’ reviews evaluate most highly. We are proudly not a resort with a predictable menu of activities. The Dulini guides traverse a vast area in excess of 10 000 hectares of prime wildlife conservancy and it is their mandate to track fauna and flora of interest to their guests. It must be remembered that the primary motivation for coming to the world renowned Sabi Sand Nature Reserve is to view wild animals in their natural environment. The safari experience in the company of highly qualified guides and trackers is what makes our destination world class. The unpredictable movement of game is what governs the direction of the game drive. It is the adventure of this unscripted experience that holds the joy and accentuates the privilege of exploring the wilderness for most of our guests. Dulini guests have access to one of the largest private tracts of pristine wildlife traversing in the Sabi Sands. You specifically referenced that you had hoped to return to a specific waterhole to experience the crocodiles and hippos again. Regrettably, what we could not control was the weather and the 450mm of rain and unexpected flooding experienced during the first 2 weeks of February which made the access to this waterhole impassable. This was explained to you by your guide and it is unfortunate that this became a restricted area for driving because of the unprecedented impact of the extreme rains on the dirt roads there. We trust that our guide made the correct decision, governed by standard operating procedures for all safari vehicles in terms of ecological integrity and guest safety. We are sorry that this was a missed opportunity for you, but trust that you were impressed by the vast beauty of the other areas that were open to exploration. On investigation of the comment that children’s interests are not accommodated at Dulini, I would like to share that your guide fondly remembers engaging animatedly with your son who was seated next to him for the 4 hour morning drive and 3 hour evening drive every day. Other than these 7 hours in his company, your family would have been offered the opportunity to take an interactive bush walk each day. The private plunge pools would have been another amenity your son may have enjoyed during your stay. Board games; books; birding; photographic up-skilling; baking with our chefs in the kitchen - these are all possibilities to fill an already-busy day for children on safari. In your review, despite your comments you give Dulini a rating of 4 for both service and location. This attests to the enjoyment of your holiday, as you expressed to our staff while in camp. Your sentiment that it was not value for money is not shared by us or reflected by numerous other reviews of extremely happy guests. To the contrary, we are proud of our offering, our staff, and the extremely well-priced and indulgently all-inclusive adventure we are privileged to share with our guests. Perhaps, having read our response, taking the extreme weather over your visit into account and comparing our price point with competitor lodges, you may reconsider and possibly give us an opportunity in the future to redeem that missed sunset at Ebony Dam. Best Regards Iain and Sue Garratt Owners of Dulini

We stayed at Dulini Moya for 4-nights and it was the highlight of our honeymoon. The rooms were elegant and spacious, and we especially loved the large bathrooms and private plunge pools. We were able to see a variety of wildlife from our room, including a family of monkeys we interacted with each afternoon. We also had a few massages in our room that were very relaxing and perfect complement to the safari. Our butler was Jabu, and he was super friendly and catered to all our needs, making it a wonderful experience. Our guide was Riaan and tracker was May and they made each game drive fun and ensured we got to see the Big 5 during our trip, not to mention they are great photographers too and taught us a lot about the different animals. The highlights were seeing a leopard cub, baby elephant, and lion eating a water buffalo shortly after a fresh kill. Overall, we highly recommend staying at Dulini Moya and are looking forward to returning in the future.

I have had the privilege of visiting some of the premier 5 star lodges across our beautiful country over the past decade but Dulini Moya leaves the rest far behind in the dust. The way the experience is personalised and the attention to detail is simply sublime. It really felt like the hosts cared that we had the best experience possible. The game viewing was absolutely stunning and breathtaking at times, the accomodation was immaculate and so tastefully designed and decorated, unlike anything I've seen before and the food was on another level. There was always variety to choose from and each dish was presented beautifully and again the attention to those small details was there every time. You had better knock off a few pounds before you come because the food is so good its difficult to stop. If its the experience of a lifetime you're after Dulini Moya is the place to book. I don't think I've ever felt so proud to be an African! We will we back and I cannot recommend this lodge more highly...

If you are coming in from Thailand, probably better to get the flight straight into Dulini. Driving will probably require a good off road vehicle but can be done. They have had some rain. Sightings have not really been affected. You are fairly sure to see everything. Dulini has also had a major revamp to maximise River Views. Game drives are conducted by professional rangers, twice a day and if you have Instagram, you can view current photos of viewing on the following two accounts. shadesofwhyte and rangerdan11. Both these folks operate in Sabi Sands, so pics are recent by date order. A Most beautiful property with great staff and exceptional game viewing. Have fun and pay attention to the ranger advice, this is as wild as it gets, when we were there Leopard sightings in the staff quarters. Have a great time. Well worth it.
