We've stayed at Idube in mid-November on our honeymoon to South Africa and it was an incredibly rich and beautiful experience. All the staff at Idube were very kind and helpful and made the stay very enjoyable. There were great vegetarian options for food, which was generally always delicious. They also suprised us with some lovely honeymoon treats which were very cute and thoughtful. The game drives were particularly fun. Our guide & tracker duo, FJ and Ian, were super friendly and could spot all sorts of widelife from miles away (sometimes quite literally). We also did a bushwalk with FJ which was very exiciting and gave us the chance to learn more about plants and flowers and see some animals from a different perspective. The wildlife viewing at Sabi Sands is superb, we saw countless animals and often also from up close. Overall a great experience that we'd recommend to everyone!

This is the 5th time we’ve been … actually got married there in 2004…haven’t been back since 2007.. and having a little bit of trepidation of going back after all these years and knowing how good it was and how well we were treated back then… everyone has changed unsurprisingly…. But we were quickly aware how we missed the place ..it’s been modified and updated… But the staff and management are as fantastic as ever…the food at all meals was better than ever … the rooms were spotless all week.. all sorted when on your game drives. The game drives themselves were awesome…every time there different…we were a little worried because of the greenery which had suddenly arrived because of early rains and because we’re photographer's we thought it might be difficult … we need not of worried.. our expert guides Joas and Congeve soon allayed any fears…first day lion kill ,leopard kill, .. pangolin!!! …and much more.. by the end of our stay we say the big five in multiple scenarios plus cheetah and wild dogs several times and another different pangolin…again because Jois understands photography he put us in the right spots and would quite happily move a couple of feet if was a branch in the way ..or the light was wrong . Also they both had great knowledge of animals and birds and the area . We had good fun swapping stories from the old days too They were a fantastic pair of guides . The managers themselves Charita and Evert were a lovely couple and we had great chats in the evenings… and Evert introduced me a great deal of creepy crawlers… moths ,scorpions, and more .. and took us on a private tour to the offsite boma which is currently under restoration after Covid. What was icing on the cake was they put on a special private boma for us on our anniversary with a bottle of champagne on our last night.. thank you In the end we were sad to leave after 9 wonderful nights and 15000 photos… but we’ll be back for sure. This place is the best value in sabi sands…the hospitality is 2nd to none .. from our extensive travels around the world…the food and experience and friendliness is unmatched. Good luck Charita and Evert with the new baby, see you soon. Regards Alison and Guy.

Our recent stay at Idube Game Reserve, nestled in the exclusive Sabi Sands Game Reserve, was an exceptional safari experience. The staff at Idube Game Reserve were warm, engaging, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had an unforgettable stay. Our accommodations were a harmonious blend of luxury and natural simplicity. Our chalet was complete with all the modern amenities one could desire, while still allowing us to feel immersed in the beauty of the surroundings. An added bonus was the resident Nyala family who wandered the grounds. Idube Game Reserve's prime location in Sabi Sands meant that our game drives were nothing short of spectacular. We were so fortunate to have the expertise of head guide, FJ and tracker Bungani. FJ's anecdotes, photography knowledge and passion for conservation added to our safari adventure, leaving us with not only beautiful memories but also a profound appreciation for the importance of preserving these wild spaces. FJ and Bungani facilitated my favourite wildlife sighting of our month long safari in Africa, the sunset viewing of leopardess Basilie playing with her young cub. We were even blessed to see an aardvark and pangolin. If you have the opportunity to experience Idube Game Reserve consider yourself exceptionally fortunate – it's a safari adventure unlike any other.

Idube never fails to deliver. Another unforgettable experience from the moment we arrived. Charita and her team are fabulous, the game viewing was extraordinary as always. Joas and Congeve treated us to some amazing sightings. We were incredibly fortunate to see two pangolin plus a small leopard kill, two different leopards on kills and lions on a zebra kill. Wild dog were also in the area and we were lucky enough to see them 3 times. The hyena cubs were adorable and the elephant sightings the best we have ever had The food was incredible, so much choice. Our room was so comfortable too and the nightly turndown so much appreciated We cannot wait to return Thank you all so much.

What a wonderful place and amazing team. We were welcomed warmly, fed heartily and guided into some very exciting moments. The rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. All the food is home cooked and the team make a big effort so that every evening is different. There is a little pool for a cool dip but you need to be comfortable with the fact that it may have some leaves and little creatures because of where it is. Sometimes there are animals that cross in front of the restaurant and pool to go the watering hole. There are animals that come into the camp which you can then watch from your deck. Game drives are exciting and sunset drives are extra fab with sundowner drinks that you order lunchtime. Lots of up close and personal animal encounters! Thanks to the team for a wonderful time.

Every moment of our 2-night stay was exceptional. Our driver and tracker for game drives were Mark and Ian. Their knowledge of the bush and skill at finding and safely bringing us up close to the animals was impressive. On our final morning drive we saw 9 lion cubs and their mothers! Cozy blankets and hot water bottles kept us warm during the cool, early-morning drives. Coffee and homemade muffins at a mid-drive stop was a treat. We (my husband, myself, and our 12-year-old) stayed in the spacious and luxurious Makubela suite, which had it's own plunge pool and patio overlooking the bush. My son and I went on a nature walk with Ian--highly recommend! His enthusiasm and talent for storytelling helped us remember the nature facts that he taught. The freshly prepared food was delicious, and the entire staff was friendly, talented, and worked hard to provide an extraordinary experience for all. If we have the privilege to return to this area of South Africa again, we would love to return!

The staff was great. The accomodation not lucurious but comfortable. We had a whole nedt of mosquitos in our room but luckily were provided with insect repellant. Next day the fumigated the room. Food also excellent. The only negative was that at the game drives, the guides were not attentive to the guests who sat more to the end of the vehicle. We struggled to take pictures and had to ask them to position the vehicle so that we could also see the scene and take pictures. It also seemed as if the guides didnt communicate/ jyst did their own thing. We heard that there were wild dogs near our vehicle but werent taken there. Some edu on that would be good.

Our experience at Idube was excellent. We couldn't have had a better time. The facility was very clean with wildlife all through it. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. The food was good but not great. The safaris were exceptional! Saw the big 5 every day. We have been on 5 safaris in total, and this was our favorite.

We managed to see the Big 5 plus 2 as well as the ugly 5 which no one talks about. The ranger and tracker are all very professional and take it very personal if they don’t get a good viewing. Very good rooms with electrical fencing for protection. Petunia from the restaurant stood out , Empress in front desk and the whole credit goes to the management of Kevin and Sharita

’ll start by saying that our stay here was a good one, but by no means exceptional. I would not consider this a 5 star accommodation and reviews that called it that left us feeling let down upon arrival. Highlights of the lodge included the game drives and our tracker Ian and guide Mark. Ian was fun and knowledgeable, Mark worked hard to insure we were able to see a variety of animals and was highly knowledgeable as well. We saw all of the big 5, as well as Hyenas and their baby’s and even a leopard stocking it’s dinner! The food was also great. Breakfasts were plentiful, with cold and hot options. Lunches had a good variety and dinner was usually served in a unique atmosphere with a variety of options pre ordered at lunch. I enjoyed the variety of soups and mains. The accommodations themselves were dated. The lodge definitely was an older one that could use some updating. There was no refrigerator in the room, and no complementary extras besides coffee and tea. The water served in the room was from the tap and room temperature. There was no option for a water filling station at the lodge, leaving only bottled water as an option from the bar for a charge. All beverages outside of coffee, tea and room temp tap water were charged at an additional cost. This included bottled water, juice and soft drinks. We were surprised even our sundowner drinks, which is a staple part of a Game Drive were charged. The Bartender was not very organized, our bill was incorrect and he did not seem very friendly. Also if you’re wanting to stay connected, this is not the place for you. There is little to no cell reception, except for random LTE signals during the game drives. The lodges wifi does not work effectively and is unreliable. Guest room wifi worked only any random intervals, with one guest having to connect for business emails in the middle of the night. The only really reliable signal was in the office / curio shop, which was only accessible to guests during the day. While I am not one to need to be connected. I did have two small kids at home I was trying to check in on. The overall experience of our visit was good, but the general feeling we felt was not great. We definitely enjoyed other places on our trip much more.
