#17 of 40 Speciality lodging in Sabi Sand Game Reserve
Travellers' Choice
Notten’s Bush Camp is a jewel within the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Mpumalanga, which means “the land of the rising sun” in the locally spoken language, Shangaan. Notten’s is an exclusive and private safari lodge personally run by the Notten family. This beautiful, intimate safari lodge is situated within one of South Africa’s finest natural sanctuaries the Sabi Sand Reserve and Greater Kruger National Park. It is a destination that will truly touch your heart and soul. Each private suite is elegantly styled, spacious and cooled by ceiling fans. A magical atmosphere is created with the purposeful absence of electric lighting; the ambient candlelight and lanterns capturing an enchanting spirit of romance. With splendid panoramic views, this private game lodge is the perfect place for peace and relaxation while watching animals meander past.

Just remember that if you go on safari you have to get lucky with what you see. As it happens, we had some great sightings and the rangers work really hard to get you to the various sightings. Being in a lodge they can take you off road and they know how close they can get before it becomes unsafe. Apart from that, what you do have control on is the lodge you stay at and Nottens was really great. The room was very spacious, bathroom also large and lovely facilities. There is an outside shower/bath too, though unfortunately I didn't get to use it. Rooms have at least one plug for charging and (in ours) 2 electric lamps. The rest of the lighting was oil lamps which gave a really cosy and romantic feel. Oil lamps light the whole lodge and are always tended too. Service is

Friendly and helpful staff, superb food, delightful room. We had four game drives during our two day stay, and what superb sightings we had. Tongue in check I asked our guide to find us a honey badger. He hadn’t seen one for several months but - hooray - our tracker found one. So, what service!

I went to a safari some years ago & promised myself to bring the family to experience what is beyond words. After doing some research & reading, Notten's was perfect for the five of us. We had to book months in advance & now I understand why this camp is so special. The service with a warm smile is beyond expectation since everything comes from the heart. Staff sincerely cares about their guests. Teamwork is smoothly excellent in making the guests feel at home right from the start. The Office staff (Daniela, Jan, Dale) are also very caring, friendly and did everything to make their guests feel special & welcomed. They continue to strive to make the experience personalized & better for their guests. Each request was addressed in a professional yet relaxed manner. Rooms are very

Visited for the first time recently with friends. Close to the Skakusa airport (30 mins), this is an amazing spot... Great rooms (huge), viewing stoop of a watering hole, wonderful food at all mealtimes, Wi-fi in the main communal area, electricity for charging devices but lovely touch with no light bulbs at night except bedside (lots of candles), laundry service, friendly staff, good wine (and Savanna cider!), excellent game driver (Thomas), small shop, lovely pool. Saw the big 5 - plus loads of hyena and wild dogs (twice)...will definitely be back for another visit soon.

We have visited the Kruger many times but always stayed in the National Park camps. We decided to treat ourselves to a private camp and on best recommendation booked Nottens. So glad we did. Warm welcome by Best who took us to our room which overlooked the water hole. Lovely room with 4 poster bed comfy armchairs and lots of cupboard space. The stoop also had 2 armchairs so one could relax and view the game in comfort. There was a bath, separate inside shower and also an outside shower. A short walk to the lounge and dining area which was open at the front overlooking the water hole. Food was plentiful and very tasty. We had game drives in the early morning and evening. We missed out on the walk as it was too hot over 44C. We have done walks in the Kruger and would thoroughly
