Notten’s Bush Camp is a jewel within the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Mpumalanga, which means “the land of the rising sun” in the locally spoken language, Shangaan. Notten’s is an exclusive and private safari lodge personally run by the Notten family. This beautiful, intimate safari lodge is situated within one of South Africa’s finest natural sanctuaries the Sabi Sand Reserve and Greater Kruger National Park. It is a destination that will truly touch your heart and soul. Each private suite is elegantly styled, spacious and cooled by ceiling fans. A magical atmosphere is created with the purposeful absence of electric lighting; the ambient candlelight and lanterns capturing an enchanting spirit of romance. With splendid panoramic views, this private game lodge is the perfect place for peace and relaxation while watching animals meander past.

Even before we got to the Camp we saw Rhino, giraffe and zebra! On arrival we were greeted with scented cold towels and fizz. We were then shown to our lodge which was amazing, later that week we had an impala right by our out door shower and a herd of elephants within a 100yards of our Decking. The four poster bed was superb and we had good quality sleep throughout our stay. We took malaria tablets but I didn't see one mosquito the whole time we were in the Bush. The food and hospitality were 2nd to none, the family feel of this lodge shines through and we met David and cousin Guy who were fantastic. The evening meals I won't forget as you sat down with all the other guests and ambience due to the candle light was fantastic. Breakfast was always a delight not just because

It's so rare to stay in a place where it's hard to rave enough about it to give it proper credit. Nottens is one of those places! The staff (headed by the always helpful and cheerful Dale) was amazingly kind and accommodating. They always went above and beyond to make us comfortable, worry free and mindful of the amazing surroundings. We had monkeys on our patio, and always animals and birds within easy sight from our room. We stayed in Room 1 and loved it! Then there were the game drives. We had such amazing sightings, including rhinos, tons of terrific birds, leopards, lions, elephants, giraffes, cape buffalo - you name it. We saw it all! What a great time we had! Oops, almost forgot the great food. Yep, it's the best!

There really are no words....make this a bucket list goal. The staff was amazing, the rooms were amazing and perfect, the stars were unbelievable. But the animals...lions in a pack waking feet away, a stalking jaguar and another with a kill in a tree, Buffalo, giraffes, elephants, baby rhino suckling, hyena pups...it was a wonderful and humbling experience and Nottens was the way to see it. Thank you!!

Arrived at Skukuza airport to be greet by Jeffrey - a senior Ranger from Nottens. From their the Saffari began. we took the short drive to the camp and en route spotted an Elephant and Giraffe. On arrival David Notten and Suzi (front of the house staff) welcomed us back. After light refreshments we went to our room (no 6 the same one we had on our first visit) Yes a few changes here. Mosquito nets over the 4 poster bed. Safe. 2 electric bedside lamps. After high tea and meeting the other guests Jeffrey and tracker Rian we set off on our first exploration. On that very evening we saw 4 of the big 5. Dinner was lovely and plentiful. Dave joined us for our evening meal. It gave us a change to see all the staff were doing, especially the ones on holidays or leave. I spent

We did 2 other safaris in Africa and Notten's ruined us for them as Notten's was just spectacular. Dale, the manager, is a superb host and a perfect example of leading from the top. All of the staff were so helpful and lovely. Many of them have worked there for up to 20 years. Which says a lot. The food was really, really good. One night Dale barbequed beef fillet and it was the best beef i have ever tasted. The pool is long enough to swim laps in which was a bonus for me, a swimmer. The guides and trackers (Toniyiko and Guideon) were so knowledgable and able to track and find 4 leopards for us. Many folks don't get to see leopards at all. We loved every thing about out stay and can't say enough positive about this game lodge. We are recommending it to all our friends
