A lovely, well cared for lodge within Sabi Sands that goes above and beyond with service, food, game drives and comfort. Each room has A/C, heat, indoor and outdoor shower and balcony views of the savannah and frequent visitors. The staff was outstanding and we felt so comfortable and welcomed. Highly recommend!
We are in love with Sabi Sands game reserve thanks to Nottens and the experience we had there. Big Cats, Big Five, Bog Game and we felt so lucky. The location and the professional approach by Nottens staff were the highlights of our visit.
I’ve visited a few safari lodges in my life and Nottens is definitely one I will remember. The staff make sure you feel like your part of the family and pay attention the smallest detail, be it the hot bubble bath when you return from a night drive or making sure we have sun screen when we’re at the pool. The stay at nottens with the included drinks and included bush walks is 100% worth it. We will definitely be back 😎
At least that's what my heart says! From the moment we left, after our stay in May 2021, I dreamt of the day we would be back and the same happened this year. My dream came true in March 2022 and just before leaving, we booked for next year. As I have already written a review, this is just to repeat that staying at Notten's, in that environment of casual luxury, where everything is perfect, is an experience never to be forgotten and always to be longed for. And if you, like me, LOVE leopards, then Sabi Sands is the place for you.. We saw 4 adult leopards and 2 cubs....we were actually the first guests to see them. Apart from th beautiful lodge and the great service, the game drives are just unbeatable. Till we visit again, know that I am so grateful to you all for taking care of this corner of paradise, so that we, your guests, can visit and relive the magic, again and again.…
From the welcome drink when we arrived to the beautiful bedrooms we got with an outstanding view on the animals which were passing every days, everything went perfect. The meals are excellent with a huge breakfast and a super dinner everyday. The game drives were so Nice, we saw the big 5 in only 2 days! Great swimming pool (a bit chilly by the end of April), a very special place. Thanks a lot to Mr Notten, Kim, Joe, Medion and all the others employees who took care of us.
We stayed for 4 days and had the most amazing time. The lodge is beautiful. So comfy with antique furniture, lovely relaxing spaces and amazing bathrooms / bedrooms. Dale and all his staff were so kind and considerate, we felt totally spoilt. The food was amazing and there was such a lot of it. Thomas was our guide and he was great. Quietly spoken, and so knowledgable. He was very patient with our attempts to learn the bird names. Of course all the animals were amazing, but what a place to enjoy them from. Thanks again, we'll definitely be back.
Nottens is a high end and intimate experience and still very authentic. Absolutely everything is thought of. It is beautiful and so well run. The staff are all wonderful. The rooms are amazing as are all amenities / services/ meals and the safaris simply far exceeded our expectations. Our guide Tonikyo , was absolutely fabulous. All of the staff were fabulous. All of the extra little touches didn’t go unnoticed. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life anywhere and I will be back. I highly recommend visiting Nottens. Our whole group were wowed and every guest we met seemed to be having the same ( but different ) incredible experience. Thank you for a wonderful and intimate safari! I’d give it 6 stars - it was that good !
Well, all the other reviews say it all - it is quite amazing. Small, private - just how it should be. We were a big party for a friends 60th and had the whole camp to ourselves. 3 nights - our room 1 was fabulous. Huge, with a comfy bed, a/c, bathroom which had a bath with a view, and both an inside and outside shower. Food and drinks were plentiful throughout the stay, and given the fairly punishing schedule (knock at your door at 5am) we needed a rest afterwards! The (6) drives were consistently good in showing us new areas and all the wildlife. We saw very much more than we expected - quite amazing. The staff constantly made our stay better and better and surprised us so many times - and I won’t spoil it for you! Go….
We stayed for 5 nights, with 4 adults. We had the time of our lives!! The hosts Dale and Jen are wonderful people, it feels like you are family. Thanks to Kim for organizing the surprise. The young couple will never forget this trip. The food is excellent and is served in the Summerhouse with a breathtaking view. Elephants, Impalas, Baboons etc are only a few animals to see there. The villas are very nice and elegant. The game drives were so beautiful, Tinyiko went the extra mile to find a Leopard or Cheetah all the times. He knows the flora and fauna of South Africa and always has the answer to our many questions.
It's been a while since we visited Notten's. With the pandemic and related complications in the past year, I did not get around to reviewing this amazing place. Even though I am late, the fact that the memories remain fresh for me to still be able to recall them is a testament to Notten's hospitality. The very first thing I would like to mention is that the chef is par excellence! Her food is delicious and the quality of ingredients used is great. The portions are generous and served with warmth. Food is extremely important in a bush camp as any traveler will tell you. Notten's provides the best. But the chef, in addition to being excellent at her job, is such a friendly and warm person. She deserves every praise. This brings me to the nature of the place in general. The couple who run the place take special care to make you feel welcome. They are warm and hospitable and take a personal interest in your well being. One among our party felt a bit unwell due to the candles in the room. The owner immediately had them removed, inquired if we needed any medicine or needed to see a doctor and came to check on us again at dinner time. Now, let me come to the main attraction that every bush goer looks for - the wildlife. We had some fabulous sightings due to the effort put by the rangers. We saw a whole pack of wild dogs after almost giving up! We could hear them for two days but didn't see them but the rangers kept trying and voila! It was truly special! We also were very lucky to see a mom and young leopard playing for a long time. Although, the area got too crowded and noisy with too many vehicles and people. It is important to limit the number of vehicles near a sight and vehicles should keep moving to make space for others to watch. We also really enjoyed watching some fabulous owls and chameleons on the evening safaris. The rangers were very knowledgeable. There was a young person whose first day at work happened to be our first day at Notten's and it was great to see how he was as excited as we were on the safari! The older, highly experienced ranger tested the younger one and it was fun to watch them interact. They made a great team and we learnt even more facts than usual because of their interaction. We also went on a walking safari which is not something I would recommend if you are not used to walking in the heat and fear poop and uneven surfaces. But we had a lot of fun and saw very interesting things up close - like hyena poop which is white, little insects, tortoises, dung beetles and amazing plants and trees. We are happy we didn't meet any of the big five while walking even though the rangers knew what to do if we had. The rooms were lovely - clean, aesthetically pleasing and spacious. I would recommend brighter bathrooms though - the light was insufficient. The pool was great and also the massage was relaxing. Oh, and let me not forget the hyena coming to visit us in the dining room! He came in, walked around and then left. It was quite something. The property overlooks a watering hole at a distance and that affords the possibility of some beautiful sights. We saw many antelopes and birds. Before I end, I must mention the monkeys that reside on the property. They are fun to watch and are quite cheeky. They add an element of extra fun and we had even more extra fun because they tried to steal our swimming caps and clothes. Cheeky creatures! I do not approve of the air guns that are available at the property. Some kids were really troubling the monkeys with them. It is not kind. Otherwise, the whole experience was fabulous and we really had a great time. Sorry for the late review but it is heartfelt and I wish Notten's well. The form on this page does not let me put down our travel date as it has been a while so I am putting down the closest it lets me.…
