In spite of the dry name of the river on which it is located, there is nothing arid about warm and welcoming River Lodge. Perched on the edge of the Sand River, this tranquil lodge is the perfect safari retreat, boasting spacious riverside suites, Big Five game viewing with excellent leopard sightings and the perfect amount of privacy.

Dulini River was the perfect location for our safari/honeymoon trip. From the resort itself, the location, the game drives, the service, and the food, this place was incredible and exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to coming back soon and recommending it to all our friends and family!

This was a return trip to this gorgeous lodge set in the spectacular Sabi Sands area. The lodge setting is amazing as you view a variety of wildlife meeting at the river while lounging on your deck or enjoying your private plunge pool. The service and food is excellent in this extremely well run property. Definitely a place for couples to enjoy peace, quiet and privacy. The wildlife is so plentiful in this area with lots of gorgeous leopards, elephant, lion, giraffe, rhino - everything and always so close to the jeep. We saw leopard every day plus a cheetah. Highly recommend and we shall be returning next year.

I am a professional safari photographer that goes to reserves around South Africa. One single drive with Dulini created more memories and interesting sightings than all other trips combined. I cannot recommend their lodge, staff, and reserve enough.

This Safari experience exceeded our expectations. We have never done a safari before and we are so glad this was our first experience in it. From the moment we arrived to the lodge to the moment we left, it was top notch service. The staff goes above and beyond in service (which says a lot from someone who lives in Las Vegas) and they are all extremely knowledgeable. Would highly recommend and will plan on coming back soon.

My husband and I stayed at Dulini River for three nights during our honeymoon and loved every minute of it! The staff is second-to-none, from our butler, Positive, to Jabu, who walked us back to our room every night. Everyone was incredibly kind and made us feel at home. Our two game drives each day were terrific. Our guide, Scott, and tracker, Colbert, were a great team! Not only did we see the Big 5 multiple times, but we learned the stories of the animals we saw and discussed conservation at Sabi Sands. Highlights of our drives include locating a pack of wild dogs right before sunset and watching them attempt to hunt impalas, seeing a pride of lions that included 10 babies, and seeing a mother leopard and her cub climbing in the trees and walking across the bush to drink from a watering hole. Each night, Dulini put together a special treat for its guests, from a "champagne tree" on an evening game drive, to a bush dinner that included dancing and a traditional South African Braai, to a surprise for my husband and I on our last night at the resort. The food was also fantastic, particularly the numerous breakfast options. Finally, it's hard to describe just how amazing Dulini's location on the river is. From our room and the central lodge area, we saw giraffes, buffalos, hippos, elephants, wildebeest, and more. We cannot recommend this lodge highly enough and hope to visit one day in the future!

Dear Amanda Thank you for your wonderful review, and we are delighted that we could make your honeymoon so special. The game drive experience is always the highlight if done the right way, and we are so happy that Scott and Colbert were able to be such great ambassadors and helped you gain a much better understanding of our piece of paradise. What incredible sightings you had! The location of Dulini River is one of a kind, and to hear of how much you enjoyed the view, the space and all that comes with it makes us really happy- it truly is a special place. Other than the surprises one experiences in the bush in terms of animal sightings, we also love to surprise our guests with special stops and different dining venues to go with the great food and wine and experience our culture. We hope you can return, and will send regards to all the staff. Regards Neil

We had an incredible time. The Lodge itself was beautiful. The people were genuine and amazing. The food was terrific. It was our fourth safari camp, and by far the best. The air-conditioning was key. At the other large as it was way too hot but it was super comfortable at Dulini. Animals came and visited and it was so much fun but it was also safe. It was national heritage day when we were there and the team members all dressed up and they also had a wonderful dinner for us around the campfire and did traditional tribal dances and had us join them. It was so much fun. Jabu was a great dancer!! The fitness center was clean and well appointed and the plunge pools and the regular pool or clean and heated. The laundry service was terrific. It was so nice to get clean clothes back every day. I really can’t say enough about this place.

Such a wonderful experience. Situated in Sabi Sands game reserve beside the river where a variety of animals regularly visit; such a joy to witness from your balcony. The accommodation, staff, & food were all excellent. Our ranger/guide was Fred who was so knowledgeable and his enthusiasm was infectious, along with our tracker, Tyrone, (who rustles up a fantastic gin & tonic on the evening drive) who enabled us to observe a huge variety of astonishing wildlife at close proximity on every game drive. (Two each day). Our thanks to everyone at Dulini river lodge for making our first safari experience so memorable; it won’t be our last!

This was the second Dulini property I stayed at after spending 3 nights at Moya. Dinamos(sp) my ranger at Moya took me on a bush walk from Moya to River which was quite nice. We saw some animals and looked at tracks and poop. You may think that’s gross but you can learn a lot about an animal based on poop. Specifically which animal. After he dropped me off at River I was able to relax a bit before my first afternoon drive with my new group led by ranger Fred and tracker Tyrone. Another great funny duo! There’s a great symbiotic relationship between ranger and tracker pairs that I love seeing. The rooms at River were amazing. Very open, airy with a neutral color tone matching the river it overlooks. The only odd design of the room was that there is a window in the wardrobe room that overlooks the walkway. I always had to close it. Not that anyone would be peeping but not the most ideal place for a window. Again, nothing left to desire from the views off my deck to the amenities in the room, to the excellent service and abundant food! On my last day I was privileged to try out the new breakfast menu. Great to see something like that. Was able to get my avo toast without cheese. Vegans no fear, they cater to all dietary types! Just let them know in advance. The only thing I wish I could have done but because I planned poorly was get a massage. Reminder, these are not paved roads you drive on and sometimes it can get bumpy! Game drives were awesome. Dress in layers in winter since mornings are cool, not cold. But I live in Minnesota so the temp was perfect for me. They provide heat pads and blankets for freeze babies. And each row has binoculars for viewing. Animals in abundance and got to do a couple bush walk in the morning which was nice and cool since there were a couple days it got pretty warm. Got to see the Plains Camp males together on my last morning drive which was special and one of the lionesses who had two cubs that were less than two weeks old. We gave them plenty of space but so awesome to see via binoculars she was with them. Again, thank you to the entire crew at River, those I spoke to daily like Emma and Jabu( walking us safely at night) and those behind the scene who made the stay unforgettable. Between Moya and River this was THE best birthday holiday I’ve ever had!
