Our group of ten friends stayed for a couple of days +. We reached around two PM and were greeted by the Head Chef with an excellent lunch. We went on safari trips each morning and evening and saw all the big 5 animals and so many small animals that we did not know about. The exploration on foot was memorable. The food was great. The outdoor settings were fun. A lot of fun and memories.

Where do I start? I suppose by saying if you are considering coming to bush lodge then stop thinking and just BOOK it, you will not be disappointed. From the moment we stepped off the plane at Skukuza everything was first class. Our AMAZING ranger Will met us off the plane and introduced himself, he explained that he would be our ranger and guide for the whole of our stay ( and he was totally amazing throughout ). He loaded our bags onto the safari vehicle and drove us to bush lodge which was a safari ride in itself. The drive was so cool and gave us a small taste of what was to come. Once at the accommodations it was explained to us that during our stay we would have a morning safari which starts at 6am but can meet at 5.30am for coffee and a pastry. Upon return at 9am we would have breakfast. After breakfast we have the option of a walking safari ( to be arranged with our ranger ), a community visit to the area where most of the staff come from ( at an extra cost which goes back to the community ) or we could relax and use the facilities such as the swimming pools, spa or just relax on the viewing deck which overlooks the waterhole. Then at 4pm we meet for coffee and cake before departing at 4.30pm for the evening Safari. During this safari we stop for the sundowner ( your ranger will ask prior as to which drink you would like ) in a picturesque area. We return at 7.30pm and your ranger will escort you to your room ( after sunset you must only walk around with an escort as their are no fences around and animals can roam freely ) for a quick freshen up ( if required ) before straight back out to the most amazing meal and setting. Your ranger will sit and eat with you and you can get to know them more. This was always such a special part for us. That’s the basic day here at bush lodge but the most special part is clearly the safari drives. The rangers and trackers here are frankly exceptional, their skill in finding/spooting animals is staggering to a point where you would think the animals have been planted there. As this is a private game reserve the ranger is allowed to go “off road” to follow animals but only if the animal is one of the big 5. This made for some of the most special moments of my life. At one point our vehicle was surrounded by a herd of elephants, we were so close we could have touched them. It was such an emotional experience which caught me by surprise! During our trip we ticked off the big 5 by the end of our second day!! We saw soooo many more amazing animals too. Our ranger Will gave so much information about every animal, bird, insect and tree we saw. His knowledge was exceptional and his passion for his job was clear. I cannot speak highly enough of him. We travelled with our 7 year old daughter and both Will and our amazing tracker Lucky made her feel so special, often inviting her to sit in the from next to them and making her an assistant ranger which she loved! The Food was first class, you are allocated a server who looks after you all stay, this is so that they can get to know your preferences such as which drinks you like, where you prefer to sit. It makes it feel like you are the only guest there and is a brilliant touch. Our server was Innocence, she was amazing. No sooner as you finished she was there to take your plate away, as soon as your glass was empty it was filled again. At no time was she intrusive. She was a class act! breakfast was plentiful and included the usual cereals, continental breakfast items and hot foods. An omelette station and waffle/pancakes were available. Nice extras such as sparkling wine was also included. In the evening the food is a 5 course fair, you start with a choice of starter followed by a soup both of which is served to you at your table. You are then free to visit the salad bar and the three live stations where you find traditional meats like steak at one, a fish and vegetarian option at one and finally an exotic station which included zebra, impala, warthog etc. then if you have room there is dessert! Wine, beer and cocktails are all inclusive throughout your stay. If you travel with children then the elefun kids club is great. Our daughter loved doing the arts and crafts and was a nice escape from the heat. It also gave us time to relax and use the facilities. Again you only have to look at the other lodges in the Sabi Sabi area whilst out on your game drives to see just how much better bush lodge is compared to the others. You won’t regret booking here. Overall this has to be the greatest holiday I have ever been on. I cannot speak highly enough of Bush lodge. Special mention to Will, Lucky and Innocence for making our stay so good.

The staff, accommodation, safari experience and food all far exceeded our expectations of a bush lodge. The food was beyond plentiful and of an extremely high quality. The staff were welcoming and strived throughout our stay to ensure we had everything we needed, nothing was too much trouble. The room was huge, authentic and beautifully comfortable. As for the safari experience, we were quite literally blown away. The guide and driver's knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to track and show us so many animals was frankly awesome. If you stay in this lodge, you will have the holiday of a lifetime.

Everything in this lodge was amazing. The room was beautiful, clean, and the lodge itself was wonderful. We loved the food, the staff and the game drives with our experienced and kind guide Jonas. We've seen lots of beautiful animals and we enjoyed every moment of our trip. I really recommend it to everyone who is in love with nature as we are

If you’re in the same boat I was, combing through reviews for lodges & being completely overwhelmed with choices then hopefully this review helps. First I’ll say, if you’re looking here just do it. Everything from the very beginning was just amazing. The grounds, the staff, the wildlife, the villa, the food, literally everything was great. I’ll breakdown each of these in sections below. Location: We flew into Nelspruit (KMI) and had about a 2.5hr ride to the lodge. The drive was fairly easy, and you’ll probably see some wildlife along the way. The lodge itself was beautiful. All of the decor, and aesthetics really give you that African feel. The villas are VERY spacious and beautiful. We were blown away and couldn’t stop smiling when we walked in. Staff: Everyone…and I mean EVERYONE was amazing. Always smiling and genuinely happy to see the guests enjoying themselves. They all really enhanced the experience beyond how amazing it already was. Our driver/tracker combo-Voster/Moses were the dream team. I highly recommend requesting to be in their vehicle. I could write an entire section on Voster alone, but I’ll say he is one of the most knowledgable, genuine, and humble people I’ve ever met. He went above and beyond every single drive out. It’s truly been a pleasure getting to know him. Wildlife: The part you probably came here for. During our stay we had mostly overcast days with some rain but in 3 days we saw the big 5 (Lion, Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino) and we also saw African wild dogs, Zebra, Giraffe, Impala, Hippo, Wildebeest, Hyena, Ostrich, Baboon, Vervet Monkey, Warthog, Dyker, & Springbok. It was amazing how close you’re able to get to these animals and one of the many positives to staying here. The off-roading was such a cool experience and something you’re not able to do in Kruger. I will admit that we came here under the “leopard country” impression and it actually proved to be quite difficult finding them. We saw one on our night drive and that was it. We were also told some guests stay 4 nights without ever seeing a single lion so it’s all luck of the draw. Misc: There are two drives daily (6am & 4:30pm) they are 3 hours each. You stop about two hours into each drive for a bathroom and drink break. -All of the food was great. Breakfast & Lunch are buffet style and you sit with whoever you want. Dinner-the first two courses come to the table then it’s buffet, you sit with your driver and group. -Your driver is also your “escort” at night. They’ll stay with you until you go to your room and make sure you get there safely. There are sometimes animals that wander onto the property at night. We only encountered some impala and baboons. I know there are more “luxurious” options, we looked at a few of them prior to booking. But I can say that everything about this experience at Sabi Sabi Bush lodge felt luxurious. Thank you to all of the staff, Voster & Moses for making this an unforgettable experience. I would recommend this lodge to anyone considering it.

This whole experience was a once in a lifetime out of this world experience. We stayed here for 3 nights and arrived around lunch time. The transfer was so much fun from Skukuza airport (they come and collect you in the Safari jeep!) We arrived not knowing we could go on the 4pm safari that evening which was exciting! The rooms are incredible - so many little touches in there and the bathroom is huge!! The lodge itself is something that you walk around with your mouth open - so cosy, decoration is to die for. There are outdoor spaces, indoor spaces, a huge bar, little gym, shop and spa. We had a treatment in the spa and it was lovely! I used the gym facilities too (it is air con don't panic) and it's got all you need - treadmills, bike, weights etc. The staff are 10/10. You have your own housekeeper, your own food server (Petunia was ours and she was like a second Mum), your own tracker and your own ranger (Crem in my opinion is the best). The safaris are every am and pm (6-9am or 4-7pm) and you can go on as many as you want during that time. We went on all of them and were lucky enough to see all the animals we could have dreamed of. The trackers and ranger skills are amazing - their knowledge and experience is really what makes the game drives! You also stop for a coffee break and a drinks break on both drives, again a lovely touch. The food - this needs it's own review. I wish I never got full! Breakfast is literally anything you want. Hot / Cold / egg station where they will cook up omlettes with different toppings etc etc. Lunch is a mix of hot and cold serves as a buffet - everything is top notch. For dinner you have a choice of starter, then there is a soup followed by meals at 3 different outdoor kitchens (one is usually chicken/beef, one is veg/fish and the other is a little different with things like Zebra/Warthog etc). All sides are available as a buffet of both hot and cold options. Dessert is also a choice. Served with any drinks you want! I would recommend this place in a heartbeat for people wanting to experience Safari - I overhead other guests who Safari often saying that this place was really something special which is always nice to hear!

Our family LOVED our Sabi Sabi experience. We are a family of 5 with 15, 14 and 10 year old children. The experience that was delivered was exceptional. Our guide Dani was helpful and engaging. She and our tracker Sam made every effort to find all the animals that we were wishing to see, as well as deliver the best experience possible with some of the more elusive animals. Dani and Sam were friendly and kind, had a great sense of humour and made our stay so memorable. We loved our special bush breakfast that was organised for us on a birthday, and it was such a surprise to see the lovely Mama Z waiting for us with everything prepared. At the lodge, all staff went out of their way to include and engage with us and make our experience unforgettable. Thank you Sabi Sabi.

We had a 2 night/ 3 day stay at this lodge as part of a Tauck Tour. Overall, our stay was outstanding. The rooms had just been remodeled and were very nice. The room had everything you could need and were very comfortable. All of the meals are buffet type. They said they are not your typical buffet but are rather very high end with prepared to order stations. We were able to enjoy many different types of game meat during our stay which was incredible. The game drives were outstanding with our guide (Cello) and tracker (Samson) doing an outstanding job. We were lucky to see and 3 of the big cats' cheetahs, leopards, and lions as well as wild dogs.
