This is my fourth Time to Africa on safari. I am here with my three daughters and their husband and fiancé for a total of seven people.

We are genuinely world travelers and have stayed at multiple Singitas and properties of the royal collection in Africa in addition to other spectacular ultra luxury properties around the world.

Cheetah planes may top them all. I have to give a special shout out to the entire staff but want to specifically mention Justice and Cliff at our villa as well as our guide Andrew and his tracker Edwell, There is absolutely nothing that is a problem for them and they provide a level of service that makes the best Four Seasons a little envious. The villas that accommodate eight people are truly spectacular in every possible way and the owner has attended to virtually every detail you can imagine which is really impressive. The food is wonderful and they are unbelievably accommodating and creative in how they present it and how they make dining in the jungle an unforgettable experience.

If you are looking for a truly spectacular experience and property as well as absolutely top-flight service this is your lodge and I have not seen better at the very top level of what Africa offers. Also the artwork is captivating and the massages are great!!!

We are always gratified when our efforts satisfy our guests, but when such well-traveled, discerning visitors shower us with such high praise as you have done, we are beyond delighted! We know we are truly privileged to be in such a special place, but this pleasure is amplified ten-fold when it is shared and appreciated by others. I have been here with my family in Dec 2019 and only now I have stopped to give this review.
The reception, service, villa, culture, safari, all of it is out of anything you can imagine.
Truly a life time experience for all the family.
We had great safari lodging, impressive service, and an amazing gastronomical experience with hundreds of wines at our disposal.
All of this surrounded by beautiful nature embraced by a true eco friendly culture, from exclusive electric safari cars to solar energy panels.
Truly a must do experience in one’s lifetime.

When we first came to Cheetah Plains we were immediately blown away. Not only was the architecture beautiful and the food delicious, when we were first welcomed into our house, a large team of people instantly catered to our every need, all the while expressing genuine and authentic kindness to us. The house manager, Lorraine, looked after us without fail. A personal massage-therapist, Tseppie, worked on our back and face and we’re all the better for it. A wine expert, Reggie, taught us much about South African wine and the history behind it. A kind barista, Moses, helped situate us with delicious mock tails and cocktails. And our guide and tracker, Elias and Edwol, were incredibly knowledgeable and took us out on a several stunning safaris. While there, these two helped us see elephants, lions, leopards, impala, rhinoceroses, hippopotamuses, a chameleon, a giraffe, and many many more animals. We stayed there for three nights and had a fantastic time the entire time! This was definitely the best customer experience I’ve ever had!

The attention to detail was spectacular. The staff understand how to be present but not intrusive. Sipps and Sabelo were a spectacular ranger/tracker combo. Lorraine was a fabulous hostess.

The rooms are beautifully appointed. The coffee was superb. The massages heavenly. A great gym.

This is not a zoo, and it is not guaranteed that you will see the animals you are looking for but Sipps made every effort for us to see the big five and we were grateful to have seen them all (twice!). We also saw wild dog, hyena, beautiful birds etc etc. I did not have a Nikon long lens - and Sipps gladly organised one for me. I was blown away by that.

We were there for three nights. This is long enough to see game. A longer visit would allow for savouring the game drives a little more and for more rest and relaxation. It depends on what you are looking for out of this visit.

The electric Land Cruiser was one of the stars of the show. It is an awesome vehicle for game drives and I could not believe where we drove in it. Sipps made me understand the true meaning of the phrase "bundu-bashing".

Cheetah Plains is the peak of what can be offered in a private game reserve. It was a privilege to spend time there. This visit was a particularly important family event for us and the Lodge game us everything to create memories that will last forever!

Greetings from Cheetah Plains! Thank you for taking the time to pen a review - such positive feedback is always a delight to receive!. You will be glad to know that the Fish Eagle continues its haunting cry, competing with the discordant screech of the newly-arrived parrots against the backdrop of the deep chortle of the resident hippos. After much recent rain, all is serene; nature is thriving at Cheetah Plains and the African bush continues to fill us with wonder. Regards, NJ & Mettie van der Merwe.

My family and I spent four nights at Cheetah Plains and we could not have been more pleased. We stayed in Mvula house with Lorraine, the manager, and Sipps as our guide and Ntsako our tracker. We saw incredible wild life — the big 5 is a given, if that’s your thing. We were not expecting anything but were fortunate to see leopards with kills in trees and a leopard stalking a steenbok. We saw a male lion reuniting with his brood in the twilight giving incredible roar displays on the way within feet of us. We walked through the bush to see giraffes all with our incredible guide Sipps. He is outstanding — knowledgeable beyond words and we trusted his judgment completely. He was also knowledgeable about photography and funny! We enjoyed our rides with him and Ntsako immensely. Lorraine is excellent — warm and professional and she spoiled us with pampering and drinks and snacks! We wanted to take her home with us. The food prepared by Senze and his wonderful sous chef is on par with a high end dining. The pastry chef also prepared desserts comparable to high end NYC restaurants. Walter, the sommelier, selected incredible S. Afr. wines for lunch and dinner. Forgive gave us beautiful body treatments. Moses, our butler, anticipated our every need. And Duncan watched over us in the dark as we went from room to room outside in the dark. We can not wait to go back. Our sons, 18 and 14, were blown away. We have traveled widely with them, but our trip to Southern Africa was by far the best family vacation. We can not wait to go back and stay at Cheetah Plains.

A South African Safari had been on our bucket list for as long as I can remember, we knew it was going to be a once in a lifetime experience. But, what we couldn’t have imagined is when we weren’t out looking at beautiful animals spending time at the most beautiful lodge with the warmest, kindest, hospitable group of people.
Cheetah Plains didn’t miss a single detail when they built the lodge a few years ago, pure luxury in the middle of the bush. The food was amazing, the chef and his team were so accommodating and talented, spoiled us at every meal.
Sipps and Nsako our guide and spotter were so knowledgeable, knew every animal/bird/insect/plant and went above and beyond to make sure we were able to check every box at the end of our trip. Lorraine and her team became family in a short time, saying goodbye was so hard.

Our family recently had the great pleasure of staying at Cheetah Plains and were booked into the Mapogo Villa.

We have been fortunate to stay in a wide variety of five-star properties in Africa and beyond. Our experience at Cheetah Plains now sits at the very top of our list of favorite locations.

Beyond the incredible beauty of the property and the stunning villa, we enjoyed our daily game drives and were able to see an incredible variety of wildlife. Our superb guide (and photographer), Andrew and tracker Vusi, went out of their way to ensure we were able to witness the full beauty of the reserve.

Beyond our superb accommodations, what made our visit so special was the amazing team.

Our incredible hostess, Sizile, went out of her way to anticipate every possible need and created wonderful surprise experiences--from the beautiful sundown cocktail event out on the plains to a memorable final dinner in our boma.

Xolisa, our sommelier made sure to keep our glasses full of the best wines of South Africa. He generously shared his knowledge and expertise.

Our butler, Keletso was always one step ahead of us and made certain no detail was missed.

Gugu, our massage therapist, provided what all believe were the best treatments we’d ever experienced.

Our chef, Terror, and his culinary team created exceptional and creative meals throughout our stay and made sure that we experienced the best of local cuisine and game.

We simply can’t thank the entire staff adequately for their hospitality and, more importantly, their incredible kindness and dedication.

We look forward to visiting Cheetah Plains in the future and would recommend this property unequivocally and with great enthusiasm.

The Francis Family

My family and I were fortunate enough to enjoy a truly unique stay at Mapogo Bush House at Cheetah Plains. There are few words to adequately describe the experience. The architecture, the interior design, and the setting are jaw-dropping. Complemented by staff who cater to your every whim and anticipate your every need, this is an experience of a lifetime. A big shout-out to Lorraine who seamlessly orchestrated our stay, as well as Moses, Brenda, Prince, Brilliant, Feroudja and Lesego. We enjoyed incredible game drives with Andrew and Vusi, and on our return to the lodge were spoiled with gourmet meals, cocktails, and a roaring fire.

We have left behind a piece of our hearts at Cheetah Lodge!
