We had an excellent time here we stayed in Unit 1 known as Kierie Klapper. This room is a very private room with stunning views over the riverbed. The stunning private pool was a wonderful way to cool off from the mid day heat. While the lounges on the deck have permanent shade throughout the day. The bathrooms are huge with a double indoor shower along with a outdoor shower looking over the riverbed. The overall look of the rooms are stunning each with their own colour scheme.

The food was excellent with a varied menu everyday and our dietary were met without any issues whatsoever. Afternoon tea was a delight with both savoury and sweet options available.

The game drives are fantastic on our 4 night visit we saw 9 different leopards and in excess 15 leopard sightings including cubs. We also saw the rest of the big 5 as well as hyenas and plains game. Steph our Guide and Victor the Tracker made a great team and shared their knowledge and love for the African bush with us. We really loved all they had to share with us, and would recommend them as a team to anyone.

We enjoyed our stay so much that prior to leaving we booked for another visit next year. We highly recommend this lodge to newbies as well as experienced sari goers.

Silvan Safari way exceeded my expectations of a luxury bush retreat What an awesome experience this was! From the moment you arrive and are greeted with the warmest of welcomes and cool towels to freshen up, to the exceptional staff, delicious food, comfortable and very spacious rooms and service that is attentive but unobtrusive, this is a truly memorable experience.

The games drives, morning and evening were amazing We saw the big 5 on most trips and had the privilege to experience a pride of lions with 8 cubs, happily playing around for the cameras. I was impressed at how close we got to the wildlife and also by the knowledge and experience of our ranger, Kenneth and tracker, Remember. How lovely to meet these professionals who clearly care deeply about the animals and the bush. The early morning bush walk was yet another highlight.

As a first time visitor to Silvan I wasn’t sure what to pack or take along. Dress really is comfortable and casual and there is no need to bring anything other than your clothing and camera … everything else is taken care of … down to sunblock and peaceful sleep in each room. There is a stocked mini bar at reasonable restaurant prices, water is freely available and a Nespresso machine and pods in each room.

I highly recommend Silvan Safari … stay for at least 4 nights … you will be treated to the most amazing bush experience!

Thank you so much to Stefan and the exceptional Silvan team.

We stayed for 2 nights and it was pure bliss. From the arrival to the final goodbye I could not fault them on a single thing. The staff were warm and engaging and nothing was too much trouble.
The suites are enormous and beautifully decorated; linens, towels, and furnishings are of the highest quality. Everything looks brand new, there is no wear & tear like I've seen at some other lodges. I slept like a log, it is so quiet, except for the occasional lion or hyena calling.
My husband really enjoyed the office area in our suite as he worked from there; he was kept company by a spotted bush snake (non-venomous) that was curled up in a tree outside the study window for two days. It was amazing to have a full view of the snake, and just watch him from the safety of our room.
The food was excellent, not just good, excellent, even compared to top city restaurants. There were always interesting choices on the menu and a wide variety of fresh ingredients every day. Evening drinks in the main lounge was cozy and intimate and lovely to chat to other guests to hear their experiences of the day.
Game viewing was wonderful, there are lots of cats in the area, but of course this changes from day to day.

Well done to the visionaries, architects, decorators and staff of Silvan, they really created something very unique and special in the bush.

All I can say is that if you don't enjoy Silvan then there is something wrong with you!!

We just returned from a two-week trip to South Africa that was planned by Justine Ryan at Rhino Africa, and included a four day/night stay at Silvan Safari in the Sabi Game Reserve. We can’t begin to express how totally spectacular our stay at Silvan was; words will just not do it justice. You have to experience it firsthand to understand just how special this place it.

The facility is small (12 guests max) and luxurious without being pretentious. The suites are simply amazing and offer everything needed to make for a super comfortable stay. The six massive suites are free-standing and spaced to provide complete privacy. Each has a beautiful deck with dip pool overlooking the game reserve. The main lodge building has a beautiful 25 m lap pool, fire pit, well equipped photography room, and multiple rooms for lounging and eating, as well as a large deck for outdoor lounging and eating. The meals at Silvan were creative and fantastically delicious. Each meal was paired with wines hand selected by our outstanding butler, X. The only complaint from our group is that we ate way too much!

As beautiful and luxurious as the buildings were, the staff is what makes Silvan shine. Our first clue to their dedication to their guests was upon arrival, when we were greeted by the staff bearing cool drinks, warm hand towels to refresh ourselves, and genuine smiles. The staff did anything and everything to make us comfortable and happy. Every day included a different “surprise” designed to make us feel truly special. All this attention was delivered in a genuine, relaxed and informal manner, totally avoiding the “stuffy” feeling that often comes with this high level of service. In fact, the staff became our new friends in short time, making it a very sad occasion to say goodbye at the end of our stay. To Jason, Simms, X, Elias, Eli, Charity and the many others behind the scenes, thank you all for creating memories that will last us a lifetime! Special shout out to X for all the special touches, including midnight cheese boards, “reserving” pieces of high tea cake for our dinner dessert, the daily G&T roadies and the excellent gin sampling session, and expert wine selections for dinner. Another special shout out to Elias and Elly for the incredible safari outings. Your knowledge of the animals, and everything outdoors was amazing, and you never tired of our endless questions! We had so much fun with you every day and are still in awe of your ability to track and spot the animals.

Thank you all for making this such a special visit for us. It was truly the trip of a lifetime!

Probably the nicest travelling experience we've ever had. The park is full of animals, going about their daily business right up close to you. The guide and tracker are very knowledgeable and fun to spend time with. The hotel "room" (more like a small house) is exquisitely decorated with modern African decor, and comes with your own private pool on one side of the deck, a beautiful river view on the other, the food is excellent with unlimited drink including a full bar in your room. But what makes it truly exceptional is the close attention paid to you and what might make your trip the best ever. Your butler (yes!) and the entire staff not only cater to your every whim but offer surprises that delight - upon returning from an evening safari, a candlelit dinner on your own deck with champagne, for instance, other suprises I won't reveal in case you go. We stayed four nights and would suggest that as a minimum, if possible. Getting to and from is less of a hassle than one might think - as long as you don't mind riding on bumpy roads (which you will do during the safari excursions for sure). There are several small airports nearby and the Air Link planes were very nice. I am not sure we'll ever match this experience - highly encourage you not to miss it.

Our stay at Silvan was one of the most special experiences we have ever had. From the moment we landed to the moment we took off, we were thoroughly spoilt. The Silvan resort is just beautiful - there are only 6 cabins in the entire place, so it is very quiet, pristine and felt very private. The staff to guest ratio is incredible and it really felt like everyone was there just for you. The rooms are glamorous, very well furnished and amazingly comfortable. The beds were soft, and the bathroom was huge. We LOVED the meals they prepared for us - everything was fresh, and there was so much food and wine at every meal that we almost didn't know what to do with it! All the staff there were incredibly kind and accommodating. They even set up a special dinner for our wedding anniversary which was incredibly appreciated. The quality of food and wine was top notch all the way through.

As for the drives, we had Vuyo and Life who were the superstar guides. They were funny, and had eagle eyes. We saw the big 5 within 2 days and Life even spotted a tiny 2 week old cheetah hiding just behind a termite hill which was incredible because only his little ears were visible. They were cheerful, and clearly loved the beautiful wildlife in the Sabi Sabi reserve. We had SO MUCH FUN just laughing, talking and learning from them. Every drive was different and was never boring. We loved every second of the safari experience thanks to these two amazing guides. We are still in touch with Vuyo who would send us incredible pictures from his daily drives.

This was the ultimate luxury safari experience. We felt safe and extremely well cared for all the way through. The people are just wonderful, cheerful and so incredibly caring in a genuine way. Everything is inclusive (apart from spa treatments which I would highly recommend btw), and we are determined to come back sooner rather than later with our daughter. We were so close to nature and the balance between man and animal is in such beautiful harmony. I am so glad our funds help the conservation of these majestic animals and help support the local communities.

Thank you Silvan team - we will be back very soon.

WOW @974catherinep, We are taken aback by the words and appreciation that you have showed us. Magic as we say really is a part of this bright and brilliant lodge we get to call home. It is thanks to you and every guest who walks through our doors that we are able to showcase the splendor of the surrounds and the personalities of every staff member who bring joy to our every day! The cheetah sighting sounding incredible and what a moment to be a part of. Every time I see Vuyo he still mentions the occasion. Memories are what it is all about and we will keep striving to perfect these along the way. I speak for the whole team both near and far when I say thank you and we cannot wait to see your names pop up again on the booking sheet. We stayed at Silvan lodge for a 4 night Safari and it exceeded all our expectations. The staff are wonderful, fun, friendly with amazing service. The rooms are beautiful, with the added bonus of elephants walking past each day. Our guide team Kenneth and James were attentive and very amusing, they made the experience of a Safari very special. Their knowledge and experience of the animals especially leopards is incredible. Jame’s special morning coffee and afternoon G&T made it even more entertaining.

What a stunning Lodge!
At first I was hesitant having looked at all the images online, that the lodge may be too contemporary for the bush, but I was wrong. The accommodation is stunning and blends perfectly into the environment. All of the rooms are huge and full of every possible amenity. The team will even provide you with a night light to do your own game viewing from your deck. Food is excellent and the chef and his team will prepare anything on request. Sadly I had an upset stomach for a couple of days so I couldn't eat off the menu, so the Chef prepared me a light delicious broth.
The highlight of Silvan is the stunning team. All of them were fantastic, from the GM Stefan, our guide Steph (very pleased to see a female guide), her tracker Remember, and the star of the show, our butler Elly.
The game drives were fantastic and we had the unique privilege of seeing a Pride of 19 lions, a tiny lion cub, several leopards and one of the rarer sights, a large pack of Wild Dogs, and lots more things too many to count.
My partner and I have been lucky to go on several safari's and we cannot recommend enough Silvan Safari.
Well done and thank you to the Silvan team!

Hi Tanya, It was truly my pleasure to host you and Ash here amidst the magic of the Sabi Sands. We really value your feedback and I know you left a lasting impression with the staff. From the sightings to the food we are really blessed and even more so having you experience each part with us. Feedback like yours makes me know my new home here at Silvan is the right one; thank you for all the little pointers hopefully the next time you are back you will be able to see the positive changes. Again it was only a privilege to be apart of your journey and I hope we added to the memories that we hold so dearly in the safari industry. I know we will see each other again soon (with the whole family next time). Best wishes for the rest of the year, Stefan and the Silvan Team

Preceding comments by others say it all. The accommodation is luxurious and service up there with the best. Game sightings on drives are well coordinated between the different lodges via radio so chances of seeing the big 5 are increased. The best part is that they go off-road deep into the bush to track and see the big 5 right next to the vehicle. Tip: If you go to Sabie Sands in winter, take a beanie and gloves, it is cold on the vehicle.
Stefan the lodge manager was energetic, available and friendly at all times. He definitely has the right personality for the job.
My nit-picking items: A river, watering hole or dam in front of the lodge and rooms would have made the experience so much better. The food is tasty and well-presented but perhaps a little too NY or Paris 5 star restaurant wannabe for a bush experience. A South African food evening with a good ol quality braai (bbq) would be a good idea.

Are the pools heated? Is it warm enough to swim the beginning of April?
Answer from General M
Hi Jeckel 13 Regrettably, the pools are not heated. April is the start of our change of season into the winter time so mornings and evenings are a bit crisp - but, during the days temperatures can go into the high 20s (degree celsius). Hope this helps. Safe travels, until we meet. Silvan Safari Team

You can see so many animals right from the lodge, including a pack of wild dogs who ran through the property. Amazing! Guides and trackers were knowledgable and dedicated. We saw a leopard, lion, elephants, and more within the first 30 minutes of our first game drive.
