Detailed Reviews
The rooms were old fashioned and impractical. They are tired and in need of a revamp, especially at the prices we were charged. WiFi did not work in the rooms. Towels were old, bedding had stains. Restaurant closed most of the time. Pool was dirty - broken glasses around the pool. Dirty towels. Pool area not maintained. Staff were good

We were fortunate to be given a gift of the Diemersfontein Harvest Supper/Dinner and a night in the guest house. The event was lovely; beautifully laid out tables, great food, a most interesting tour of the wine cellar and talk by the wine maker; and clean and comfortable bed and room for our overnight accommodation.
All the food was well-presented, but I must commend the chef on the excellent fillet steaks for the main course.
Having read other reviews of the farm I agree that this is a very special place. We had decided to walk on Sunday morning and as usual had asked permission, so we headed out for what turned out to be a short epwalk as it was a very hot day 32deg. My advice to anyone walking/hiking there would be to start early. My husband said, after 3km, that we should turn back. A large glass of water and tea/ coffee at the bistro afterwards. We were just too full after breakfast to eat lunch there but I was pleased to note that the menu had fillet steak on it. Lunch is available Wednesday to Sunday so we will be back for a midweek walk/hike and lunch.

My husband and I stayed in one of the garden rooms for four nights. It was beautifully decorated and remained cool, even throughout the hot South African summer afternoons. There were eco-friendly toiletries, aircon and tea/coffee provided. Bed linen was 'out of this world'!
Breakfasts were delicious (we chose to eat outside) and we ate dinner in the restaurant a couple of times. Again, lots of choice , with an Asian twist if you wanted.
Unfortunately we locked ourselves out of our room, but everyone was lovely and we were able to gain entry again within a few minutes. The swimming pool was crystal clear, just the right temperature, with towels provided. Generators kicked in when loadshedding began, so we were never affected by power cuts.
On two evenings we sat in the garden, drinking ice cold wine, watching the moon rise. It was so calm and still that a deer walked across the lawn! Perfect.
The only downside was a wonky loo seat!

We booked 3 nights here in a more expensive room and because it was more expensive than the others we thought it must be much better, even though it was described exactly the same on Booking.com. So on arrival we asked why it was more expensive. We were told it had new flooring and the bathroom had been upgraded. Well the first night we couldn't use the toilet as it was blocked and we had to use the public toilet down the hall. The shower flooded every time it was used, the bed had completely collapsed on one side making for a very uncomfortable nights sleep, there was no WiFi, TV or fridge in the room, (although we were told we could use the fridge in the general kitchen). The only TV was in the lounge area which was very hot and had no air conditioning or fan (in the middle of summer and 38 degrees), you couldn't use the swimming pool as the water was black - who knows when it had been cleaned last. The photos on their listing are very misleading as the place looks nothing like this now, it's very run down - the rooms need doing up, furnishings and fittings need replacing, filthy carpets in public areas. Breakfast was supposed to be included in our tariff but on our last morning the restaurant was closed (no one told us) we were just handed a paper bag containing a carton of yoghurt, a carton of juice, an inedible rock hard piece or fruit and a cold croissant with BLT which we gave to the dog. Also the owners are very rude and unfriendly, they should learn a little humility

I love Diemersfontentein wines & even ordered wine online during lockdown. When my husband said we should go on a roadtrip to see the wildflowers in Namaqualand & the West Coast, my first thought was visiting Diemersfontein!!! I made the reservation and could not stop feeling excited that I could at long last pay a visit to Diemersfontein. I enquired about the wine tasting (that is included free of charge for staying guests) & I was informed that due to the Covid regulations it was not possible. Upon arrival, we had to find out that their on site restaurant was closed and that we had to leave the premises in search of a evening meal (in a town we do not know at all). They do serve breakfast in the morning.
I feel cheated, because not only has my longtime dream of attending a wine tasting (included in the price of the accommodation) at Diemersfontein fallen flat, but we also have to go in search of a decent restaurant for supper. Despite all of this, it was still expected of me to pay the full price for the accommodation.

I would just like to take a moment to say, that my stay during the 17th & 18th of January was beautiful and beyond amazing.
I simply loved the tranquility
I also would like to take a moment to say thank you for the bedroom that was made so stunning with the flowers and the wine when we returned from our wedding day that evening.
It was not expected but surely so much appreciated.
I would def recommend and make it my point to come and visit again.

We recently got married at Diemersfontein and had a fantastic time! Because we live in Berlin, we had to plan the entire event remotely for a year. Celeste Klem, the events coordinator, was especially warm, professional and amiable throughout, making the process very pleasant. Our families loved the accommodation and felt very well taken care of by the staff. We had enough space to house both families as well as the majority of our international guests. It was really valuable to be able to book the entire venue and have it all to ourselves on the day. The venue itself was really beautiful. From the garden ceremony to the courtyard reception, we were given golden memories that will last forever. The food was always top class and the orginal pinotaage wine was worthy of all the awards it has received. We were really proud to be represented by the farm and would highly recommend it to anyone planning their special day there.

+1
We visited from England
We went for a family meal and from the time we arrived to when we left, we loved our visit.
The staff at the security gate were very friendly.
The hope restaurant was beautiful.
The restaurant staff were extremely tentative to our needs and so professional, welcoming and nothing was to much trouble.
The food was outstanding. Beautiful plates of food which tasted even better than it looked.
Everyone's food was delicious and even when we were full, we just wanted more.
There was a great choice for everyone. There are plenty of vegetarian choices!
The wine choice (we had Chenin blanc which was amazing) was the same list as the winter tasting, so you could have a bottle of your favourite with you meal.
Apparently, it's under new management and the new chefs must be so passionate about the food they serve.
Well done to everyone, it was our favourite meal of our holiday.
Definitely a must visit if you are in the area

We stayed at Diemersfotein for one night with our little toddler (2 years old). The staff went out of their way to welcome us and to cater to our every need. The rooms were very comfortable - definitely old school charm! The gardens are spectacular and we spent some time at the pool. The food at the restaurant was delicious and our little one loved playing in the fountains and petting the owner's very sweet dogs! Would definitely recommend Diemersfontein.

The rooms need a thorough refurbishment. The mirror that should normally hang over the sink, it hung over the toilet.
The restaurant was the saddest part. The first night the food was cold. The outside of the lamb shank was warm, but inside it was cold.
Breakfast the next morning a second disappointment. A meeting was in progress in the breakfast room, which should have started only after breakfast. The waiter on duty didn't even know he had breakfast guests. We were allowed to sit in a corner.
The second evening in the restaurant we tried the seafood pasta. What could you possibly ruin about that? The shrimp turned out to be cold and the sauce was a kind of soup. And when we ordered a cheese plate we were told that there was not enough cheese. That was really the limit. Upon check out our experience shared and we would be called back by the manager. Of course, that never happened. They just don't care.
