Within hours of checking in, our room was broken into (via smashed window), and all our personal belongings stolen. At the time we were attending a wedding. The room was locked as best we could, but clearly the security wasn't sufficient to prevent this (i.e. no burglar bars or security shutters on the window that was broken). Although the owners arranged for alternative accommodation for us, they did not take responsibility for the security breach, instead blaming society in general. The farm does not financially insure their guests against such incidents either (something that even AirBnB offers as standard, afaik). A shame, because the location is beautiful and what could have been a good stay ended on this sour note.
Absolutely beautiful stay at Val Du Charron. Majestic views, awesome, friendly staff and delicious food. Very peaceful and relaxing venue. The Coachhouse was magnificent. Will definitely be going back soon.
We have enjoyed our stay and I give credits to the receptionist of that day, he was very nice and welcoming. The wine tasting was a great experience with the stories behind each wine. Great place ever
First I would like to thank you for accommodating us at your establishment from 28 May 2021 to 30 May 2021. We stayed in suite 12 the Presidential suite. Brendon was absolutely amazing and the service we received from him was truly 5 star. He was front desk, reception, waiter, room service as well as porter. You really have a special employee there who you can tell loves his job. Look after him. The room was stunning and the views were amazing. There were however a few minor negatives that I would like to point out to the management: 1. Upon arrival the floor in front of our room was soaking wet with the fire starter wood laying in that water. The least they could of done was close the shutters and put the wood somewhere dry. 2. There was a dead spider in the toilet that was so dried out it looked like it was there for a couple of days just stuck to the blinds. 3. My wife took a blanket of the drawer and when opening I up a set of headphones fell out. This gave us the impression that the blankets were not washed/changed as it was folded up in the drawer. 4. The shampoo bottle in the shower was basically empty. 5. I had to call in on Saturday morning as there was no coffee had been left in the room. Brendon came down and brought us 3 bags of plunger coffee. 6. I could not manage to open the window in the room as I just wanted to take a photo but the key would not turn all the way. 7. House keeping did not replace the milk or coffee or rusks that were used on Saturday morning. 8. The wood that we used on Friday night was not replaced. The place is extremely nice but if you are selling something as 5 star the above cannot happen, we are extremely easy going people so we did not complain but we must bring it to your attention. We have stayed at many 5 star guest houses and hotels and it is the attention to detail that makes a 5 star stay special. Here are a few suggestions to make the stay more comfortable in a 5 star suite; 1. Have the aircon on upon arrival on a cold day or hot day so that the room is at a comfortable temperature 2. Make sure that everything is available to the guests everyday including wood, coffee and milk. 3. Have a telephone in the room. It was frustrating having to use me cellphone to call if we needed anything. 4. Maybe for that room upgrade to a smart TV. 5. Have a bottle of white and red wine in the room and a bottle of water. 6. Have bathrobes available in the rooms These are the things we suggest for your most expensive and luxurious suite. We had a good time nonetheless but the above would of made it even better. Again the Brendon and the staff were amazing and we will be back hopefully in summertime for another stay.…
Great location & both restaurants quality of food was great. Spa - nice, friendly location, really nice kind lady working there but the value for money not what we expected. Also some of staff at the estate have a bit of chip on their shoulders.
