Dirk was a friendly and engaging host who made sure that we were well looked after. The Lavender Cottage has wonderfully comfortable bedding and is spacious and airy. The windows face a beautiful view of the well-maintained swimming pool and surrounding mountains. There is also a small private garden where the scents of lavender, rosemary and honeysuckle are a treat to the senses. We enjoyed the breakfast and generously sized filter coffee at The Stone Kitchen. Bain's Kloof Pass is a beautiful drive nearby. Definitely will visit again!

It was my first time in South Africa with a small child... Dunstone was the perfect start. If you want peace and quiet, enjoy nature, relax by the pool, eat well... then Dunstone is the right place! And as someone who doesn't drink red wine, I learned to love it! Yummy! Natascha and Dirk gave us more than just the feeling of being a guest! They are warm and open. Available immediately if you have any questions! They give you tips on where to eat and drink, what to see and do and they always thought of my son so he can have fun to. The property is large and beautiful and my son was able to move around freely. The room was always clean and the staff was very friendly. The stonekitchen... a dream for children and parents... I was able to enjoy my meal in peace while my son was able to play in the playground. and even in bad weather there is an indoor playground. Perfect. The staff was always more than friendly! I will definitely come back there!

Thank you so much for your feedback, we appreciate it very much ! And we look forward to seeing you again, it was wonderful meeting you and your family ! The purpose of having taken over the guesthouse, the Dunstone brand, the wine, the restaurant, has definitely been achieved by feedback like yours : from when we took over in January 2023, we wished for this gorgeous place in nature to be a haven of peace and fun for all to enjoy good wine, food, and feel at home. We are so happy we could share this with you. Kind regards, Dirk & Natascha Vaeye

Dunestone is one of. If not the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at. The people are super friendly the views are breathtakingly beautiful. The wine tastes awesome as well. you can feel that Dirk and Natascha are doing this with real love and passion. Also the restaurant the stone kitchen has a very nice and broad menu where you can surely find something you like in the morning, evening or during the day. I would recommend Dunestone to everyone i know.

A group of walkers spent 2 nights at Dunstone Country House and what a treat. The rooms are well appointed with top quality bedding. Our host Natascha did all she could to make our stay enjoyable despite the challenges of load shedding. We had excellent meals at Stone Kitchen which is on the property. Would highly recommend Dunstone and hope to return.

Thank you Pat for this wonderful review, which we really appreciate ! The Wellington Wine Walkers have been organizing these gorgeous hiking trips for many years, and the groups we meet through this initiative since we took over Dunstone in January has been such a treat for Dirk & myself as well. We enjoy meeting new people like yourselves and hope to see you again soon to share a glass of lekker Dunstone wine together ! Kind regards, Natascha

We loved our stay! The new owners, Dirk and Natascha made us feel right at home! The accommodation is comfortable, and the amenities perfect. Let's not forget the farm, which is absolutely beautiful in itself. We will definitely be back.

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful weekend my family and I spent at Dunstone. The Guava Cottage we stayed in was simply gorgeous. The views of the surrounding vineyards and guava trees, coupled with the stunning mountains in the distance, made for a truly magical setting. We were thrilled to find that Dunstone is also family-friendly. Our young kids had lots of fun going for walks, playing at the restaurants kid friendly facilities and swimming in our own private pool. The Stone Kitchen restaurant which caters for kids, located just a few meters away from our cottage, offered a great option of food. We did not have to leave the estate as we could eat in or go to the restaurant which made our stay so flexible and easy. Most of all, I would like to commend our hosts Natasha and Dirk on their hospitality, warmth and kindness. From the moment we arrived, we felt like valued guests. Thank you once again for providing us with such a memorable experience.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our little piece of paradise in the heart of the winelands, every day, we feel blessed to have taken over this property (Dunstone brand, wines, guesthouse & self catering cottage) on January 6th 2023. Although we have been part of the Bovlei and Wellington with regard to wine export for a long time, returning to our roots of hospitality makes every day a fun adventure to meet families like yours ! Baie dankie en ons hoop om jelle binnekort terug te verwelkom ! Dirk & Natascha Vaeye

We stayed 4 nights in Guava Cottage with our 8 year old son. We were very warmly welcomed by the new Belgian owners Natasha and Dirk who have not long taken the farm over. The cottage sits alone with vines on one side and gauva trees on the others. An enclosed garage with a sparkling swimming pool, a definite hit with our son! The cottage itself has every comfort. Beds were comfy with fresh linen. A bath and a shower. Fluffy towels and organic soaps. Full kitchen for self catering with much needed washing machine. Lovely welcome tray with tea, coffee and rusks. Bottle of wine in the fridge. Wine from the farm was lovely. There is a restaurant within a minutes walk that makes a good coffee and breakfast. There are other high end restaurants near by so choice of places to eat. The farm has a reception where you can meet other guests, speak with staff and have a drink from the honesty bar all whilst looking at the amazing views in the valley. Natasha and Dirk looked after us so well. Our son was even allowed to pick the grapes at harvest under their supervision. Don't hesitate to book!

Hi Clive, yes indeed, we took over on the 6th of January 2023 and have been very busy ever since, lots of upgrades & improvements in the pipeline, as briefly discussed. And because Dirk has always loved his mountain bike tours in Bovlei area, now our container with all our stuff from overseas (finally) has arrived : when we are informed by our guests in advance about starting times and other info regarding their cycle tours while staying with us, we will definitely always take good care of the sporty people ! Thank you for the review, much appreciated, Dirk & Natascha Vaeye.

We love South Africa and return to the places we enjoy staying , one of which is Dunstone. We always choose Dunstone because of the people there both working and it’s guests , most of which like us return again and again This year was very different. When we arrived there was no one waiting to greet us at reception and no one around . After some considerable time one of the owners arrived and I explained how disappointed we were . It didn’t get any better . There was a distinct atmosphere. The new owners who we appreciate had only just taken over and were possibly finding the new business a challenge didn’t seem to realise that they need to focus on their core business - guests . An example of this is when they invited us to social evening of food and wine, writing a personal note to confirm the day and time which they also posted on social media. We were amazed and annoyed when the time came and went and they didn’t turn up . This confirmed to us that they treated some guests very differently . They need to work very hard to change their attitude if they are to be successful in the hospitality industry. It will probably be no surprise to hear we will not be return

Responded 09 Mar 2023
Dear Gillian, As your friends Kees & Wilma from Holland also confirmed to us, as the new owners, your ties with the old owners are unfortunately clouding your vision of what really happened. This unfortuntately for worldwide readers, also made your review "slightly biased" towards the reality of the facts : we had taken over Dunstone only a few weeks before your arrival, the atmosphere was created by you yourself and nothing we could suggest or do was sadly sufficient to get into your good books as your mind was set to not enjoying the new experience and the fact that Dunstone is no longer british owned. The social evening, due to personal circumstances out of our own hands, was changed to a later date and by way of apologizing for the delay caused, you received several bottles of excellent wines for free. We were in the hospitality industry our entire lives, working in the wine industry in SA as well as having grown up with a stepfather who owned a 14 room hotel in the centre of Brussels. Your intent, from the very moment we met, was never to actually advise or help with your comment in good intent for our brand new take over to become successfull and we find that very troublesome. We would in this case also rather prefer you would not return, as this is a small business, with a peaceful and loving vibe we are creating and we would not wish for people visiting us who actually have good intentions to be affected by your spirit. Other guests that came after you have confirmed to us personally as well as on Tripadvisor and other social media how they enjoyed their stay including our company and the "aura" as I quote from a guest from San Diego.
