Kam’Bati is situated on an Overberg farm called Jubileeskraal, that is approximately 20km west of Swellendam. The Sonderendriver and Breede River meets on the property that is owned and managed by the Badenhorst Family. Jubileeskraal is a working farm where production of Barley, Weat, Canola and Corn takes place. Kam’Bati River Resort offers Grassed Campsites with electricity and clean ablutions, Self-Catering Cabins and luxury Africamp Tents. The resort is very safe, clean and child friendly. The perfect place to spend your next holiday or breakaway weekend! The Self-Catering Cabins cater for couples in our romantic 2 sleeper units, but also for families in our 4 sleeper 2 bedroom units. The cabins are situated on the edge of a beautiful dam which is a stone throw to the majestic breede river. AfriCamps Forest opened it’s doors in August 2016. Five luxury Glamping tents have been built in a beautiful and quiet patch of forest close to the river.
Waste of hard earned money... no value for money. Advertising can be misleading. Very cold and bearable in the tents at night. Infested with flies. Management are not considerate at all and don't care about the guest. Very Very disappointed!

We camped in January 2023 on site B25. I have to commend Lionel on his exceptional service, beautiful friendly manner and happy-go-lucky approach to assisting us throughout our stay. A few things I think important to note - if we'd known this upfront we might have been better prepared for our visit: The gravel road is harsh on any vehicle which is not a 4X4. The last part of the road closest to the resort entrance was especially bad and we had to drive at 10/20km towing our caravan over the holes and bumps (just be prepared). There is no drinking water at the resort. There is a water dispenser at the reception area where you can re-fill your empties (so bring your empty 5ltrs with you to refill). We only found this out on day 3 of our 5-day stay. The site we were on had a "family" ablution block. A unisex ablution block with showers for males & females was a bit strange. And also seemed to be less fancy than the one in the A-block which looked better and had separate entrances for males and females. Also, there are no pictures of the ablution blocks on the website - this would show the differences between the 2 ablution blocks and give visitors an idea of what to expect. Due to load shedding, the water supply will be cut off as the resort makes use of a pump to supply water to the ablutions. No water in showers and no water in the taps over the basins. Make sure you are sorted with back-up power in your caravan/tent as there is no generator on the resort. Lionel did mention that they were in the process of sorting out solar panels but i'm not sure whether this would cover the camping sites too. The flies and insects/bugs were incessant. Ensure that you have sufficient mechanisms to cope with this i.e. citronella oil, fly catchers, DOOM, citronella candles, peaceful sleep etc.... There are only a handful of sites with shade - again most in the A-block. B and C block have minimal sites with shade. B and C blocks are distanced from the pools and play areas so be prepared to take a walk to get there. On the upside, the resort is safe and we had no worries leaving our caravan and going into Swellendam. The restaurant served excellent food and the shop was well-stocked with the basics (also reasonably priced). The sites on the B and C blocks are huge!!! The resort is child-friendly and there is more than enough for the kids to do and keep them entertained. Will we go back again - at this stage it's a bit of a "not sure" yet. Having to deal with the bugs/flies were a bit of deterrent for us and the lack of a generator too. …

Just spent a great weekend at Kam'Bati. Stayed in a luxury tent which was very well equipped, comfortable and neat. Beautiful setting. Loved hearing the birds in the morning. Service was great and very attentive staff. Will definitely be back.

We rented one of the self catering cabins while friends stayed in the luxury tents. We were disappointed when we compared our cabin to their tent, and saw they had much better amenities for a lesser price. Their kitchen was better equipped, the bathroom was significantly bigger, they had air conditioning, a built in braai, a larger deck, and a hot tub. We had a hot plate with only one burner, limited kitchen supplies, no air conditioning or hot tub. But we paid more for the cabin? Our checkin was delayed for almost 2 house and there was also an issue with house flies When I approached management to see if we could be compensated for our negative experience, I was told "The AfriCamps Luxury Tents & Cabins are two different accommodations types [...] Our Cabin rates have a standard rate throughout the year, were AfriCamps has their seasonal rates which was most likely cheaper than the Self-Caterings Cabins at the time." Moral of the story... the cabins are over priced. Don't book with OENA Eacapes. .…

Campsite is great with fabulous lawns to camp on, lots of stuff to do like put-put, swimming, water activities on the river. Ablution not in great condition and was not cleaner often, specially sinne campsite was quite full. Also not a fan of the unisex facility. And the million of flies was driving us mad!!! Don't think I will want to camp there again.

We are a group of 29 people that paid a 50% deposit to camp in April. Due to COVID-19, we could not camp, and immediately asked for the long weekend of 24 to 28 September, with specific camp sites. Kambati confirmed in April that this will be OK. Early June I wanted to add families to the group, to be told that the weekend of 24 Sept is no longer available, they have a private function. I then asked for a refund. They then offered the worst camp site for the weekend of 24 September, which as not according to the original booking or experience sold. They are still refusing to refund our deposit. We are extremely disappointed, and have reported them to the Consumer Tribunal.
