The pool area is very pleasant and clean and the breakfast was great. The host is very helpful and shared advice on the area. Parking is also very convenient with off-street parking right by the rooms.

What a great stay we had at Cypress House. Beautifully decorated room, cosy and comfortable, great breakfast but most of all we were caught by the hospitaliteit of Etienne and Vera. A wonderful experience and a real treat.

We had one night at Cypress Cottage as it was supposed to be a basic stop-over on our way back to Cape Town, but it actually was a little gem of a place that all my family adored. Etienne was a very welcoming host and gave us some good recommendations for places for an evening meal, and also for some potential stops on our following day’s travels. Breakfast outside on the cottage veranda was gorgeous - overall it was an unexpectedly delightful part of our trip. Would definitely recommend.

A great oasis on the route to the Eastern Cape. The place is well positioned and the suites allow for families to be located in a single house. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast was exceptional.

We slept in the cottage of a former sherif of the Dutch East India Company. Room was furnished like from these days but the bed was completely new and comfortable. Nice views of the garden and very quiet and safe

We really enjoyed our stay. The owner was happy to give us lots of tips and advice and even called a few places to check whether roads were cleared for us. The room itself was quite comfortable and relaxing, very clean, and the location was within short walking distance of lots of restaurants, cafes, and stores.

We stopped over in Swellendam on our way to Mossel Bay from Cape Town. A lovely little cottage in a sweet little town. Lots of coffee shops and a few good restaurants but not much else going on besides the Drostdy Museum and the Marloth Nature Reserve (offering some good hiking close to the cottage). The rooms of the cottage were small but clean and well appointed. Etienne, the owner, was very hospitable and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend the Cypress Cottage as a stopover location in Swellendam. Our favorite part? The very friendly yellow lab named Daniel, who greeted us at the door and loved attention ❤️🐶

The host, Nickie, was hospitable, warm and welcoming. The self-contained cottage we stayed in was neat and authentically period furnished. There was only one bedroom. Our first invasion of privacy occurred in the evening when a man walked into the cottage unannounced while my wife was partially dressed and asked we move our vehicle. Great was our surprise when the same man walked in again the next morning. I confronted him and asked him to leave just to be told that he was coming for breakfast. This implies that the area outside our bedroom was a common area. We were not informed of this and would have declined our booking had we known that we were not private. This spoilt what could have been a pleasant stay. Invasion of privacy is not acceptable under any circumstances. For this reason I do not recommend this establishment.
