Bloomestate Swellendam: This trendy guesthouse offers the restful feel of a country retreat with the style of a chic design hotel. Colorful chic in balance with natural surroundings. Bright and spacious rooms with terrace views, high tech equipment, design furniture, free internet access and luxurious bathrooms (double bath and separate walk in shower) with bath and body products of Karroo lavender. Relax at the poolside or on the sundeck by the pound, try the Jacuzzi (currently not in use) or pamper yourself with a wellness massage in the dedicated treatment room. Breakfast is a high treat served in the main house. There is a separate guest lounge with a funky bar wing and a large covered terrace with views. Good restaurants on strolling distance, owner managed. Only 2 hours from Cape town.

What a special place! Chere and Calvin, the new owners of Bloomestate, have experience managing luxury lodges. And it shows. Our every need was attended to. Chere, a qualified chef, treated us to many of her homemade goodies. Breakfast was exceptional and beautifully presented. The rooms are modern and comfortable, overlooking a tranquil pool area. Food choices in Swellendam abound. We chose takeouts in the evening and Chere arranged for us to eat in the leisure room at a candle-lit table she beautifully laid in front of a log fire. Our two nights were a real treat.

We stopped off at the Bloom Estate on our way to Plettenberg Bay from Franschhoek and what a wonderful location it proved to be, the setting is just wonderful set in beautiful informal gardens. The lodges are really Luxurious and colourful with a high standard of fittings.
The owners are really friendly and genuinely make you feel at home and they can’t do enough for you. The breakfast in the morning was great and we wished we had stayed there for another night as it was so restful and we all felt that it was a shame to rush away, but we will definitely return...

Breakfast has surprise add-ons like home baked bread, muffins, cakes and treats; even jams, jellies, and lemonade - - all made on the premises from the fruit from the orchard on the estate.
Additionally, there is a large and comfortable social and entertainment area with a fireplace, tea and coffee facilities, extra dining and seating, a bar and a beauty / massage treatment room.
The rooms are filled with personal touches and immaculate attention to detail. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, a mini bar, tea and coffee facilities, bath and body products and heated towel rails.

After nearly a year a part my now fiancè (yes we got engaged on the estate) and I opted for the romantic getaway package and boy did Bloomestate deliver. Gorgeous estate, beautiful rooms and the hosts made our entire experience out of this world, they are so attentive and really personalize every second there.
The food is out of this world and the atmosphere leaves you rejuvinated and in love. We will be making this an annual getaway!

This is our 2nd time visiting Bloomestate. We brought our family along this time where we all thoroughly enjoyed the best that Swellendam and surrounds have to offer. My wife and I enjoyed a much needed half day hike in the breathtaking Marloth Reserve whilst others went ahead and enjoyed whale watching trip less then an hour trip away. We explored the captivating Trabouw pass while stopping to have lunch at the quirky Diesel and Creme.It's worthwhile mentioning that this won't be our last trip there either as there is still much to explore.
Calvin and Chere, our hosts, are nothing short of amazing, always there to assist and willingness to go the extra mile everytime. The accommodation is roomy and comfortable all of which look out onto a well kept beautiful garden and landscape. Mornings are welcomed by a great continental and or warm breakfast with a citrus juice freshly squeezed from their very own orchard. On your way out its worth stopping in at their padstal Bloome Delights, to treat yourself to coffee, homemade rusks, homemade lemonade, jams, cookies and more! We will definitely stay with them again, they earned a well deserved 5 stars for keeping the smiles turned on during these most troubling times, they have my respect and support everytime.

It's not often that reality actually matches the photos posted on the web but wow, when we arrived at Bloomestate, we were blown away. Our room opened up to views of the mountain peaking over the wall, a sparkling blue pool, greenery with pops of colour, a swing (perfect for our 7 year old) and a hammock. It was picturesque. On a walkabout you come across a jacuzzi, a pond and an orchard! No words can do the beauty justice. Calvin and Chere were absolute superhosts! They took extra care of us and went way beyond what we expected in terms of making sure we were comfortable and well looked after. The little touch of a hot water bottle at night to keep you cosy in bed, then making sure you're fed a hearty, healthy breakfast, to making dinner reservations for you in the town. Exceptional service! Thank you for an amazing weekend getaway!

The residence is composed of several separate units surrounding a large garden where there is an outdoor swimming pool. Guests also have access to a reading and relaxation room. The rooms are very spacious, clean, well furnished with immense bathrooms equipped with every comfort (characteristic of all bathrooms in South Africa is the lack of sockets in them. the hairdryer is in the bedroom and you have to plug in with the socket in front of the mirror). In the back of the estate a large orchard with orange, lemon and mandarin plants. Good free wifi coverage. Free indoor parking Breakfast (8.00-9.30) is served in the room adjacent to the reception and consists of buffet service + savoury dishes that are prepared freshly. Since there is no restaurant service is given to guests along with the Bungalow keys, the remote control to open and close the gate. Check in 15.00-18.00 Check out 8.00-11.00

A lovely spot for a relaxing weekend. Comfortable rooms, beautiful views. The new owners are friendly and very helpful. We wanted to have good meals while we were in Swellendam, they checked who was open while we were there and sent us updated menus. The restaurant recommendations were spot on. And our breakfasts were excellent.

The excellent experience started when booking. Chere's responses were efficient and friendly. Closer to our stay, she forwarded all the relevant information relating to activities and restaurants and offered to make any reservations. The property is beautiful: lush orchards and lavender fields, green grass, a pool and quiet environment framed by the mountains. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with all the relevant amenities. The breakfasts were delicious! The hospitality, warmth and attention to detail of the hosts, Chere and Calvin, togther with the excellent service made our stay most enjoyable and memorable. Bloomestate is highly recommended and good value!
