Lundi and Ben are extremely helpful and wonderful hosts. The even helped us getting our car up the muddy hill. Cosy and clean rooms and very good breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and they really did everythin to make us feel very welcome.
We came for 1 night and ended up staying 2. The farm is surrounded by breathtaking nature and is the perfect place to relax and unwind, a couple of hours from CT. Ben and Lundi will make you feel at home and will give you great tips on the area - there is loads to do within an hour drive! Last but not least, the farm is powered by solar panels and rooms are equipped with rainwater taps. We will come back for sure!
The view from the Vrede Vallei is just amazing, you are surrounded by green mountains and there is nothing else around, only hills, domestic animals and a lake. The room is cosy and has a nice patio just in front of it. The breakfast is served in the owners living room, a beautiful big open space with a fireplace and sofas and everything is cooked at the moment. Owners are very friendly and gave us informations about streets and places to go and see. A b&b where to come back next time.
Wonderful little gem around 8km outside Swellendam - with perfect hosts Lundi and Bennie. Farm breakfasts on beautiful old Porcelain plates (different each morning)! Farm atmosphere of ducks, chickens dog and cats - but never intrusive. A real pamper if you want to chill away from city lights. The access road is really not a problem - despite other reviews - and we travelled in a little 1500 Ford Figa! . If you have small kinds or grand kids at home -ask Lundi to tell you her beautiful stories of Manie Muis that she writes frequently
Away from stress, pressure and world issues... lundi and Benny are very kind and always willing to help you. They want you to be on vacation at Vrede Vallei. The rooms are basic but clean and even if we would loved to have WiFi.... we did not miss it!
Reaching there - You can follow the coordinates on google maps and then the sign board will take u there. 1 km off road which is steep but you can drive any car there and will have absolute fun! Lundi and her husband lives there. They host guests in 3 available independent rooms. 2 rooms are small and room no 3 is big. Stay in 3 if possible, it is the last one and offers better privacy. The view is very beautiful. You will see mountains and farms with a small dam, where you can boat or swim. Its like a farm house with very few distant neigbhours and the terrain is not flat. Dirt roads leading to the houses. Its a picture perfect view. Room - i stayed in room 3. It was the biggest. Nice queen size bed. A cd player with some cds. A stove with the keetle and a shower. Couple of chairs in the room and on the outside to enjoy the view. Note - There is no fan or a/c. Just basic sufficient lighting and charging sockets for mobile. They live on solar and harvest rain water for drinking and keetle. There will be a seperate tap for the rain water. Regular water is red in colour due to the minerals. You have to drive few kms to get anything u need to swellendam. Ben cooks and Lundi manages the guests. We loved interacting with them. Lundi made fantastic effort to look after us. You will love the breakfast. They made sure we had enough items in our vegetarian breakfast and it was very nice of them. You will find yourself in serene atmosphere. You just need to leave everyday hustle with the gadgets and try to stay with the nature. Listen to your mind, calm it down with the beautiful views and relax. Carry some books to read! This is a getaway from everyday busy life into the nature with only necessary things!! …
The road, leading to the establishment is a bit of a hassle. But, as soon as you on hilltop. It certainly, looks worth it and definitely is. The hostess is really welcoming. The morning view, the breakfast was amazing. The bed is comfortable. Really, had a good time.
The Hotel is a bit hidden. Even with google map, we missed the small road turn to this hotel 1km inside. It has just a small sign with hand written on roadside. We arrived late and its dark. driving through a climbing dirt road. after a while, we can see the light from the house. We can't see anything as it is dark when arrive and Lundi welcome us. but the milky way and the stars are really beautiful on the sky. it is almost completely dark and it helps enhance the stars. In the morning then we can see what is this hotel offer the most. magnificent view, great field and mountain at far. the hotel is almost lonely with only few houses in surrounding and Tom, the dog is very friendly. we love him. Staying in this hotel is just almost back to old time, no government electricity and water. everything is by own, including maintaining the dirt road. Solar, wind and generator power the electricity. Water we use back to the earth thru the small water way behind. We are the only guest when we stay there, and i see they only have not more than 4 rooms altogether. We wake up late and Lundi make us a nice breakfast for us. delicious but not enough for both of us. we finish all but still not full :) maybe because it is delicious. By 10 am Lundi has come to the room with all sweeper and cleaning equipment and we checked out :)…
Wonderful place to stay. Out of the hustle and bustle of town but close enough to pop in for an eat or drink. Lundi was extremely friendly, helpful and looked after our every need. We did not get time to tackle any of the walking or MTB trails but I am keeping this place on my list for the next time to try.I highly recommend this establishment.
We arrived a bit later than we had hoped, so we missed getting to hang out on the little terrace in front of the rooms. Lundi was super welcoming, the bedding was very comfortable, and breakfast was great. We all loved the spinach and potato fritters! The garden is lovely and attracts hummingbirds with its beautiful flowers. The dirt road into the property was an adventure, but we had no trouble with it even in the morning in the rain. Wish we had gotten to stay a bit longer. Impressed by the fact that it's a green hotel, with all power coming from wind, solar and natural gas and recycling rain water.
