Detailed Reviews
My wife and I have now visited Arumvale for the second time and it was as good as the first. It simple to find and even easier to check in.
The host (Jees i am terrible with names, and i am sorry) showed us to our "accom" and lo and be hold, it was the same as before which was great as its a great place with an even better view. The braai was ready stacked and the pool although cold, is a great place to simply sit and while the time away.
The accom comprises of a large bedroom, a large loung/ dining room with lovely fireplace (we have used it before which heats the room up), small kitchen and a bathroom with shower, toilet and bath. All nicely decorated (although the doors in the kitchen were susceptible to fall off)
You get a gate fob which will mean you can come and go in the safe knowlegde that you are safe, although why bother locking the door in the first place.
Great accom and great service, if passing through Swellendam in the future will deffo stop and stay again

Loved our stay at the rustic cottage at Arumvale, quiet, calm, cute, stunning view, tiny cottage with thankfully no TV to interrupt the silence and birds and bees. Lovely pool to swim in. Braai fire cleaned and stacked ready for the next one, nice touch having bird seed to feed the friendly chickens when they come to visit

Not even almost non-stop rain could stop us enjoying our trip to Swellendam. The Arumvale country house is ideally located to explore the best that Swellendam has to offer. The views of cows grazing in the meadow, at the foot of the snow capped mountains, through perfectly placed windows from our rooms, are second to none. The friendliness of the owners and the staff alike, made them feel like family and made our stay very special. From freshly laid eggs, making sure our milk was sufficient, to firewood and blitz.. Thanks everyone, and keep up the good work.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Arumvale, and there was not a single thing that we would have changed. There was also nothing else that we could have asked for! We did not expect to be invited to pick whatever we needed from the vegetable garden, or the truly magnificent views that we enjoyed from our (two) balconies. The host family sets exactly the right tone - there if one needs them, but never interfering or obtrusive. I would certainly heartwarmingly recommend this accommodation!

We spend the weekend Swellendam, as we wanted a break away from the normal coastal weekends away, so we decided on Arumvale Country House, in Hermitage Village.
Rooms are very equipped and very neat, then ambiance is modern yet country with absolute tranquility from the green feeding fields and the mountains.
George was amazing from the get go, opening our vehicle doors on arrival, showing us through the room, and giving activity suggestions in the area.
All in all, we had a great weekend.

This is the second time we have stayed at Arumvale, and it is as delightful as ever. The friendly chicken was closely followed by the delivery of two fresh eggs by one of the wonderful staff, and you can pick your accompanying salad greens and tomatoes from the beautiful veg garden. The delightfully rustic cottage has everything you need and a beautiful view; a great place to watch birds and cows. Fabulous!

We really enjoyed our 2-night stay at Arumvale. A comfortable, well-appointed room with attention given to every detail plus unbeatable views made for an extremely enjoyable time. An unexpected bonus was the freshly laid eggs that we received from the hosts.

Initially, I was uncertain regards the type of accommodation booked as it seemed somewhat different from the pictures on the booking website.
I have to be honest that once we were settled & had time to enjoy the premises & facilities, the place definitely grew on me.
Depending on what type of experience you are after - Homely, cozy, cottage style, warm & lovely.
Some panel heaters need to be repaired as they were not working.
Emergency lights for load-shedding were a nice add-on but one was not charged.
Wood supplied for the fireplace was a great bonus.
Additional signage en route & at the entrance is required.
Overall, I enjoyed our stay tremendously.

What a pleasure it was to spend time at Arumvale! George, the host, was warm and welcoming from the start, and the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our suite was comfortable and stylish and we had everything we needed, from a pre-prepared nightly braai to a daily cleaner. Our view was of field and mountains and we were even encouraged to help ourselves from the prolific vegetable garden growing on the grounds. If I ever get the chance to pass through the area in the future, I'll definitely stay here again. Thank you George!

Arumvale is an absolute gem of a find! We visited in winter with views of the snowy mountains, a fire place with plenty wood to stay cosy. Situated in a prime location on a spacious farm with space for you to explore, cows walking past and plenty of bird watching opportunities... true countryside bliss!
The nearby town also offers lots to visit from delis, all your essential stores and some hiking routes to stretch the legs. An added treat back on the farm is that you can pick your own organic veggies, get fresh eggs delivered daily from the farm chickens and we were even given some wild mushrooms!
Complimented with friendly staff, and Rain organic in-room products as the cherry on top - a three night stay is barely enough time!
