Aloe Ridge has captured our hearts and will definitely become one of our regular holiday spots.

Situated on the Malgas/Infanta gravel road before Swellendam, it is a very reasonable +- 220km drive from Cape Town.

You get the Kruger Game Reserve “feeling” except for the Big 5, whilst sitting on the porch overlooking your surroundings and enjoying nature.

Minimum stay requirement: 2 x nights – believe me, you will want to stay much longer.

Each house has 2 x bedrooms (4 x people) with duplicate bathrooms with the most comfortable baths & showers.

high clearance vehicles rre recommended for the last bit of rocky road to the houses. Although low clearance vehicles might also be okay if driven carefully. Alternatively the reception personel will take you to your house, if you prefer not to drive yourself.

You receive a complementary bag of firewood with firelighter & matches, however if you are enjoying a braai vuurtjie like us, you should definitely get more wood, which can be bought at reception if you did not make provision for it.

You might also want to buy internet vouchers at reception, as MTN & Cell C signal is non-existing & Vodacom signal limited to phone calls only. That being said, you definitely will not be spending your time on a phone at this beautiful place.

We loved the lay-out of the houses, as it promotes a nice flow & comfort. The bathrooms are really really nice.

Kelly in their reservations department are very helpful & friendly.

Aloe Ridge, we will see you again vey soon!

We had three nights here in December. It's a beautiful place - in part because it is very isolated, with a longish drive down a pretty rough in places dirt road. That pays off with peacefulness though. The cottage was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen layout is a bit annoying, but it was reasonably well appointed, with plenty of cutlery, crockery and glassware, and very clean. The staff were super helpful, although some instructions on how to operate things like the oven would have been good too.

What a lovely getaway to literally the middle of nowhere but with all the necessary provided for. The modern, fully equipped house was perfect for a much needed breakaway from the city for our famil, especially after been couped up under lockdown.
It was still a bit too cold to really take up the opportunity to walk down to the river or swim in the private pool provided (my 10yr old son tried a few times anyway) but we'll be back in summer to take full advantage!
I liked that we did not need to be in contact with anyone else during our stay. We braaied to our hearts content, cuddled up next to the fireplace, had great family game nights, and slept super comfy in the beds.
The options of a deep bubble bath, indoor shower or outdoor showing overlooking the nature all around, was awesome.
Just remember all your food... shops are far away and via gravel roads!

Will definitely book again!

We wanted somewhere to escape the outside world and we got exactly that and then some! From the gorgeous large bath for evening relaxation to the outside shower for a fresh early morning wake up with the birds chirping nearby the house had everything we needed. A cool pool right on the deck with lounger chairs and a large umbrella. Full kitted kitchen, braai area and a fire place to keep you toasty at night while watching some TV or enjoying a glass of wine. Everyone was warm and friendly and eager to help anyway they could. Cannot wait to go back!

Amazing venue, Hidden gem, will definitely return.

We arrived not knowing what to expect, the 13km gravel road was a great shock leaving us not wanting to return to the shops, will strongly suggest a tiny onsite shop with the basic essentials like coffee, sugar, salt, cooldrinks, etc. We arrived with nothing and was prepared to drive back but the gravel road left us not wanting to do so. The host amazingly sold us frozen food from the kitchen but we were still lacking the essentials. we were not prepared for self catering.

The unit was completely amazing, in terms of off season value for money we got alot more than we ever expected. Everything was absolutely perfect up to the ice cold swimming pool. the BEST ROMANTIC getaway we've ever had.

Thank-you

Property is good - but there isn't a "GOOD" option to choose! These 2 bedroom villas are spacious and pretty well kitted out. They are however in need of some tlc. Pool paint flaking off, pool is nowhere near the colour that you see on the website. Inside the unit was a little dusty in places too, it could do with a good going over and maybe a fresh coat of paint. The climbing wall is not for kids, bit of a danger zone to be honest but they had a blast in the river with the slide there. Not that much for small kids to do, but it suited us well and gave us a chance to relax and just hang out with our friends. Beds super comfy! And the staff were really pleasant and helpful too. Found the units to be very good value for money, having your own pool in summer is a big bonus.

Beautiful situation but unfortunately the weather was awful rainy and freezing cold which was part of the problem as the fireplace was completely inadequate with very wet wood which did not burn at all!!!! Fortunately I had bought wood in Swellendam but still not enough heat. the gas heaters were not offered to us in light of the freezing cold weather and electric blankets on the beds would have been very welcome! The cottage needed a really good clean especially the spectacular huge sliding door glass was really dirty. Would like to return in the summer when the pool would be wonderful.

Aloe ridge is comfortable self catering unit with a beautiful view. My children enjoyed the swimming pool immensely. We were welcomed in a very friendly manner and shown around. Unfortunately the unit was not well cleaned before our arrival. Cheese residue on the steak knives. Red wine residue on some of the glasses. Spider webs in multiple places indoors. Braai roosters very rusted. Doors to the outside shower in both bathrooms could not be opened. The drain of the indoor shower was blocked in one of the bathrooms. No water on the day that we left. The overall appearance is a bit run down. Charging more than R2000 per night for the long weekend for that is a bit much.

I would like to Thank Alain and Charné(forgive me if your names spelt incorrectly) for finishing 2020 on such a huge high. This was a last minute booking which we never planned and knew nothing about Aloe Ridge until we arrived. As with everyone, 2020 was challenging to say the least.

Alain was a great ambassador for your place. Extremely accommodating and even suggested we check in early which was very kind, since we drove 3 hours from Cape Town.

Charné was great showing us around and attending to our needs.

Gousie was fantastic at explaining the history of your beautiful place and just the wild life in general.

I think staff at Aloe Ridge without a doubt understand that during this period, going the extra mile for guests is what will bring tourism back in SA. Friendly helpful telephone voice and great on-site staff should be the gold standard for tourism in South Africa. My family throughly enjoyed the stay and already talking about our return hopefully in Winter (any suggestions welcomed).

Aloe Ridge is definitely a place I would recommend and I am sure to return soon. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. It provides tranquility with nature at your doorstep. It also allows you to be alone if you choose or meet other people at the clubhouse. A true gem
