We re running a small game farm on 87 hectares with a few giraffes, bontebok, springbok, eland, wildebeest, reebok, sables, kudu, steenbok, water buck and much more. A haven for wildlife with stunning views. Our 3 cottages offer our guests privacy and we guarantee you will see game during your visit. Fishing in full season at the farm. Guaranteed to catch something at the middle dam or the first bottle wine is on us! :) We also encourage you to walk or cycle the farm. We've built up some stunning picnic areas, ideal for sunsets. Families with kids, and lovers of nature are our favorite guests. Children get a chance to experience normal farm life at the bottom of the farm if they wish, and the green folks are welcome to collect their own veggies if they wish to do so. Permaculture and water conservation are a big part of our philosophy, and we try as best we can, to preserve the local ecosystem. We've done many mistakes on our farm, and we will make many more:)

This is a really Magical place. We booked the Steenbok cottage through Air B&B, and really didn't expect the picturesque views that we got. When we checked in we were met by Sonja who gave us the keys and told us a few rules for the farm. We then drove up to the cottage which was lovely, compact but very well laid out.
Upon check in we were told that the two Giraffes are fed daily between 4-5pm in view of the cottages, so we kept our eyes out and the when the Giraffes came down for feeding they were very close to the cottages!
All of their game on the farm are completely free to roam around as they pleased and we saw all of the animals that they keep on the farm from our cottage.
We had 2 swallows that kept flying into our cottage and they would sing to themselves in the mirror, not bothered by us at all!
The farm was very pretty and we really enjoyed the views of the surrounding mountains. We couldn't hear any road traffic which made our stay very peaceful and relaxing.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would defiantly recommend a stay if your looking to recharge your batteries!

What an amazing review - thank you so much, Lauren. It is comments like this that make us feel that we are doing something right. The swallows are so special. They fly across the world to come and nest on the front porch, generation after generation, and are so much a part of the decor of the two bottom cottages. We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your holiday, and look forward to hosting you again soon

We stayed in one of the double storey cottages/apartments for one night. You experience a small, cosy farm house feeling when entering. It had a lovely view of the animals on the farm, that we enjoyed. You walk up the stairs into the main room and down stairs you'll find the bathroom and kitchen. For one night's stay it was perfect.

Thank you Jutta and Manfred for your wonderful review and kind words. It was such a pleasure spending time with you and taking you around the farm. It is always so special seeing the farm through the eyes of the guests, and Manfreds photos captured the essence of Kwetu, deep into our hearts. We hope that you have enjoyed the rest of your stay in South Africa, and hope that you will come back to Kwetu on your next visit.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend. The cottage was clean and neat and we appreciate the small touches such as the wine, fire lighters and wood that was provided. We also loved that we could walk and drive around on the farm to view the animals (we were encouraged to do so by the Kwetu owners/staff). The cottages are nicely spaced and private. We really enjoyed our stay!

We only stayed one night in the family room on our way back home. We received a warm welcome and the children immediately enjoyed the animals and the whole farm experience. The room was beautifully decorated, practical and spacious. Quite a few of the cutlery and crockery were noticeable dirty probably due to previous guests not cleaning it properly, as the room is self catering. I suggest that the staff just check that. The rest of the room was spotless and I will definitely stay there again. We really enjoyed our stay and all the animals. Thank you Joan and Kwetu Guest Farm.
P.S. just remember the mozzie spray ;)

I fell in love with Kwetu the first day I arrived. The road trip from Cape Town to Swellendam was breathtaking. It was like seeing different parts of the world every few Kilometers. Then you get to Swellendam and it is this beautiful old town with such beauty and history. (We are not even at Kwetu yet). Finally, you get to Kwetu and it is like you just become calm. We spent 4 days there and it will always be some of the best days of my life. I got to see Bontebok for the very first time, had European swallows sneak into our Cottage to sit on the wall mirror, and sing while looking at themselves in the mirror. Waking up at 6 in the morning was such a great pleasure. You go out and see the sunrise behind the Langberg mountains while Melvin & Sophie the 2 Giraffes graze on trees in the distance. I could go on forever but in short, all I want to say is this has been one of the most memorable trips of my life so far

Our accomodation on this game farm was in a one bedroom flat. Although small, it provided all we needed. Some aspects, eg bathroom and a faulty kitchen zinc plug, need a little TLC. The flat was not serviced and the large drinking water bottle not topped up every day. The seating outside at the fire place, on a hard wooden bench, needs to be improved! Reception friendly and efficient.

The property itself is breathtaking. When we pulled up to the cabin, there were two ostrich hanging out in the yard. A few min later a giraffe walked by the front door. Inside the cabin is why this isn't a 5.
When we got inside, none of the lights worked. There's no phone, so I had to make an international phone call to reception. I asked about the lights and was told indignantly that it was load sheading, as if I should have known what time load sheading was that day in this area. It would have been quite helpful to know when we checked in ten minutes earlier.
We booked a cabin with an outdoor hot tub, but it was freezing cold. I called reception and spoke with the women who I /think/ is the owner, but I'm not 100%. She said hot tub wasn't on our registration sheet so we would have to take it up with the booking agent because she "doesn't work in the office"
The wifi in the room did not work with the posted password, but the 4G coverage was good, so that didn't impact things too much.
There is no heat or AC in the cabin, but there is a wood burning fire place. Visiting in winter, it was quite cold overnight.
There were no bathroom amenities in the cabin despite them being listed as included on the booking. They do exist, because an empty shampoo with the Kwetu logo was still in the shower from a previous guest.
Some very minor improvements would would easily make this place 5 stars.

Totally loved our stay in one of the cabins. The sunsets are stunning, being surrounded by all the game, once the sun went down the night sky is incredible. Perfect if you'd like to see the milkyway. The owners even supplied wood for our stay, so we could make a nice fire, which was necessary, as it get quite cold in the mountains. So make sure to pack some warm clothes! For dinner we went to Swellendam a place called Woodpeckers, recommend by the owners, which was really nice. All in all a beautiful stay, really recommend it! Make sure you go on a morning walk through the reserve to see the giraffes, kudus etc.

Thank you fou for your lovely review and comments. The weather is finally starting to warm up, but we have had wonderful rains over the past few days which has been a blessing this time of the year. Still chiily enough in the evenings to light that fire place inside. We hope to see you back again soon

We were glad this was our first stop along the Garden route, we have nice and relaxed stay here.
We arrived at the end of the day and were greeted by almost all the animals.
The self-catered house was nice size and came with all necessities needed.
I would make a suggestion of putting up screens.
They even helped us out with laundry service for a reasonable price.
