Our beautiful farm is nestled in the picturesque Hermitage Valley, and situated just 2km's outside of Swellendam at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains. Our cottages are known for its spectacular views, cleanliness, attention to detail and tranquillity. Abundant outdoor activities and pretty Berry Farms are just a stone throw away. Your hosts The Zaayman Family (Ma Nadia, Pa Spuy, Little Bro Zondagh & Tiny Sis Katryn) would love for you to share our little piece of paradise and stay a while in one of the 4 self-catering cottages on our farm. There are loads to see and do in and around Swellendam, the 3rd oldest town in South Africa (and once declared a Republic of its own!). We really have it all. So if it's just a quick visit passing through, business trip, a weekend away from it all or a long deserved holiday, Hermitage Huisies would love to accommodate all your needs. We have a glorious salt water swimming pool for summer cool off and a wood fired hot tubs for winter hire! All of our cottages come with indoor fireplaces, outdoor private bbq's, fully equipped kitchens, bathrooms and full wifi.

Perfect to get away from the city and relax. Peaceful & Beautiful.
Attention to detail was amazing, even a doggy bowl with biscuits, which made the experience even more unforgettable.
Would recommend Hermitage Huisies any day.

My husband, myself and our dog-child spent a lovely 2 night getaway stay and it was perfect for what we were looking for! We loved the cosy room, it was clean and neat, the kitchenette was well equipped (no oven), there was even lovely bath salts for our hot tub and doggie biscuits on arrival. Wifi was very good! Bed was super comfortable! Indoor fireplace was bonus (wood very expensive though R 40 per bag). The mountain views from the outside undercover patio with built-in braai were beautiful. The communal swimming pool would have been great if the weather was warmer (we travelled in winter). The owner was welcoming too. A recommended place to relax at and spend quality time with your loved ones, rates very reasonable too!

This is the perfect peaceful retreat, spectacular mount view, peaceful farm experience. The Hot tub is worth budgeting for to relax in with some of the best wine on offer as well at extra cost and maybe some lamb chops on the braai. Pet Friendly!!

The most adorable little cottage nestled in between the trees, near the foot of a mountain. Needed to remind myself I am in fact not in Swtizerland, because of the lush greenery. The Rose Cottage is completely standalone from the rest of the facility, so the privacy is lovely. Your only visitors are the friendliest dogs, geese and even pot belly pigs close by :-)
While we visisted in 40°C heat during February - the cottage kept cool, with some welcome rain relief just the very next day, balancing it all out. The location is a farmstead after all, but only approx 10mins out of town to the nearest shops - with a very good gravel road, only a few hundred meters long.
Bring some cash along, with them having a honesty system for items in the kitchen, like wine, olive oil, wood and firelighters.
The host looked after all our needs, all the while we keep privacy.
Oh yes, there is a lovey pool as well!
Can't wait to stay there again.

Nadia gave us a warm welcome with several gifts, such as blue berries and vegetables from her own garden. The cottage is beautifully located, it’s peaceful and offers a stunning view on the Langeberg mountains. The children enjoyed the interaction with the horses very much. At night the sound of the frogs at the dam under a starry sky gives for a good night’s sleep. In and around Swellendam there are lots of possible activities to be done. A great place to stay!

Hermitage Huisies cottages are pet-friendly, unpretentious, comfortable and everything you could want, with thoughtful touches. Like an Honesty Bar, with Olivedale wines in case you didn’t bring your own. Or simply want to try the superb regional wines. A bag of fresh veg from the garden and a spekboom for you to take home and plant, are part of their drive for organic, sustainability. The swimming pool, fabulous on a hot summer day. Not freezing. Refreshing, and close to the cottage to pop into for a midnight dip under the stars.

The River cottage is best suited for 2 people, squishing in 4 was a bit of stretch. Our family will not choose this particular cottage again, although the location is excellent. More attention could be given to detail, especially in this price range. The kids absolutely loved the horse riding with Hermitage Horses!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay on the farmstead. Woke up in the morning to stunning views of the countryside and mountains in the distance. The cottage was super comfy, clean, bright, well equipped. Lovely swimming pool, a stones throw to the horses roaming the fields, just at our doorstep. Nadia and George had even provided such essentials as coffee, tea, rusks, home grown veggies and a selection of wines. Highly recommend this gem of a spot for anyone looking to get away from the city hustle and bustle. We shall return, that is for sure. Thank you Nadia for your warm hospitality.

Our stay was unplanned but Nadia welcomed us with her warm hospitality and our night in the studio cottage ended up being a perfect romantic getaway.... peaceful and such an amazing view. Loved the thoughtful touches of wine, firewood and fire starters, we ended up braaiing spontaneously by candlelight on the stoep. Cant wait to come back! Thanks Nadia for your wonderful hospitality.

We enjoyed our stay in our cozy and comfortabe cottage. The farm is beautiful and the mountain views are spectacular which make for a nice peaceful country breakaway. I also appreciated all the eco-friendly details like the composting container, recycle bin and spekboom gift. The cottage was well equiped with everything we needed; there was even a dog bowl and welcome treats for our doggy.
