Recently spent 10 days here and what a gem. The owners and staff are so helpful. It has good security. The building is traditional cape Dutch style and rooms are large and mirror traditional style. Lovely pool area with sunbeds. Very clean. They don't offer meals except breakfast but happy for guests to use plates, glasses etc out of the breakfast room. Lovely bathroom with plentiful hot water and a thatched roof. Happily stay again

December 2020, 4 days before our trip to Somerset West, we were in need of accommodation, I phoned Jeorg, and he offered us 2 rooms next to each other for my family of 4, at a very good rate. It was really home away from home, great service, great breakfast, great pool, and was within minutes located from the 2 tennis venues our chuldren played at. Thanks Jeorg, Julie and Simba.

My husband and I were married at the Laurent , Lourensford Wine Estate. Given pandemic travel restrictions, we decided to do a “going nowhere slowly” trip and booked our second and third night away at this establishment. Widely internationally travelled, we are fully aware of what constitutes 4 star accomodation, despite the owner asserting that only guesthouse owners understand grading. The room was marketed as a luxury room, but it lacked ambience, it smelled musty, the shower trickled and there wasn’t even hot water. Despite checking out prematurely, due to the accomodation not meeting our needs, we were told that there will be no refund, and no apology was offered. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a four star experience. It is basic and un-inspiring. Even the bedside lamps were cheap with incorrectly sized bulbs.

Good day Thank you for the feedback you have provided. I chatted to you at point of check out where you had decided to check out a day earlier and requested a refund which I declined. You then stated you would leave your review. I understand that you have your standards and that you have travelled widely. We are graded by TGCSA as a four star guesthouse. They have strict requirements. I understand that people have different expectations and taste. I checked the water which was hot and working. jWe thank you for your input. Kind regards Winelands Villa mangement

We were looking forward to our stay at Wineiands villa cottage. However we fond it to be very dated. It’s really in need of a refurbishment. There were no rugs on the floors and furniture was old and shabby. The kitchen cupboards fell apart. Poorly equipped kitchen not even salt and pepper. The TV most channels blocked no world news.. The good part was the bed which was very comfortable. There were just the two of us and at R1200 per night was not worth the price. We have been coming to south Africa for many years and have stayed in a lot self catering establishments. On the way over from Plettenberg bay we stayed in a very nice B & B for R960 including breakfast in swellendam.

Good day David We appreciate you taking the time to send us your thoughts. We are glad that you found the bed very comfortable! The two bedroom self catering unit that you booked offers complimentary tea/coffee/milk which is standard for any self catering unit. Our fantastic staff would have been more than happy to help you with items such as salt and pepper. The rate you paid was for a free standing, two bedroom unit with it's own seating area set in a beautiful garden with a wonderful swimming pool on a 5000m2 property. We are aware of the kitchen drawer that broke during your stay and was repaired the same day. Kind regards The Winelands Villa Team

Checking in was a hassle. Stood for 20 minutes hooting ,ringing the bell and calling the number with no response. Eventually a staff member came running from up the road and opened up. Room was pretty mouldy and windows were opened for the rest of the day to clean the air and was substanially better by night time when we returned.Accomodation-wise All the facilities needed for self catering. Our 2nd stay here. I would recommend getting a friendlier dog than trying to bite and bark like mad all over the show especially when arriving back at night its crazy trying to reason with it. Secondly i would recommend informing guests of meals offered i.e breakfast before checking out to complete the stay albeit self catering more options is always better than less!
Just want to say that this is an honest review. I believe many people try to sugar-coat reviews to prevent animosity but after all how do reviews help if they are not honest. Response from the establishment wont be entertained as everything will be after the fact and quite rightfully we were never asked how service, cleanlisness, value, location, sleep quality and rooms were during our previous and also our last stay was. I believe that in doing so during people's stay you are then guaranteeing a favourable accomodation setting ,response and review beforehand.

We had the bottom apartment facing the magnificent garden of the Villa. the place was big and comfortable enough and clean. We had a warm welcome from the owner who showed us around. the week-end was peaceful and we could explore around the cheetah preservation center and went to the movies within 10 minutes max of distance while the villa is situated quite high on the mountain. (stunning sunset view from there) kids can play in the swimming pool in the morning before exploring and late afternoon while parents are braaing.

I highly recommend this guest house if you are looking in this area. The owners were very hospitable and accommodated us when our initial guest house dropped us. They and their staff made us feel welcome and at home and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a fantastic holiday at the property. The house is located in a beautifully landscaped garden, with a large pool and in a quiet location. But the rooms are also well furnished, the service is great and the breakfast is rich. From here you can take many trips to the wine region or to Cape Town. The parking spaces are protected in the property. The price and performance ratio is also correct. Highly Recommended!

Many Thanks for a great stay and going the extra mile to accommodate our family from the UK when our holiday house in Strand was burgled! We had a great time and couldn't get the kids out of the pool and gardens, also used the extensive facilities to braai/bbq with family and friends... Joerg and his staff were extremely kind and helpful in a difficult time for us over the Christmas period and my wife and 3 daughters enjoyed the lovely clean rooms with beautiful views! Can defintely recommend with 5 stars to all our friends and future guests coming to the Cape Winelands. Very good location close to Somerset West, Stellenbosch and the Strand. Thank you so much again for all your help and support during our stay!!

Good day Aram
In South Africa we use a Plug Type M this is also used in Swaziland and Lesotho
The Type M plug has three round pins in a triangular pattern and looks similar to the Indian Type D plug, but its pins are much larger. Type M plugs are sometimes used for bigger appliances in countries that make use of Type D plugs, as well as in Israel (Type H).
I can't attach a photo here, Google "photo of south african plugs"
Hoping you come right and have a awesome stay at the Winelands.
