Detailed Reviews
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience at The Country Guest House. From the very start, their team was incredibly accommodating, allowing us to book rooms for the morning to get ready before our wedding and ensuring our guests could stay the night without any hesitation or complications, unlike other venues we had approached. Their willingness to go above and beyond made the entire process so easy. The prices were very reasonable, and the fact that breakfast was included was a bonus! The staff truly stood out with their warm and friendly service, making us feel right at home. We highly recommend The Country Guest House for any special occasion or getaway!

The Country Guesthouse although in a rural area is within an easy drive of Stellenbosch and Somerset West. It comprises a a variety of small cottages scattered around the estate and is immediately next to a fine restaurant so no need to drive at night to find supper. There is a large swimming pool within the gardens and many of the cottages enjoy a fine view . Good firm beds,. friendly staff and an excellent Ken Forrester wine estate on the opposite side of the road.. We would be happy to pay a further visit.

My wife and I has a wonderful stay at The Country Guesthouse. The property overlooking the vineyards is beautiful and the rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed breakfasts and some dinners at the high-quality restaurant on site. The guesthouse is conveniently situated just outside the hustle and bustle of Stellenbosch for a quiet stay and visiting many of the fine wineries in the area.

While the location is breathtaking and the rooms are magnificent, the unavailability of reception staff before 8am means we cannot stay here again.
We flew in from Europe and Joburg for a wedding at Haskells wine estate and needed to catch early panes on Monday morning. We could not get breakfast before 8am. Nor were management prepared to offset the cost of a lunch on Saturday against the price we had already paid for the breakfast. No-one was available at reception or answered the reception phone from 22h00 on Sunday until we left at 07h45 on Monday.

Booking was made on the morning of our 4 night stay as a result of having to revise our plans due to the severe storm which struck the Western Cape. It was not until turning into the drive we realised this was the same property at which we had stayed in February 2018. Everything was as we recalled from our previous visit - aside from one or two changes introduced as a result of the Pandemic which we viewed as improvements - but our accommodation looking out on the vineyards was a huge bonus compared to our previous visit when our view was of the pool.
A great team of staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Very comfortable room; excellent breakfasts as was dinner on the night we dined in the onsite restaurant.

Excellent location, within easy reach of the wine farms in Stellenbosch. Very friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Lovely grounds and excellent patio to watch the sunsets. We didn't use the pool as the weather wasn't great, but it looked nice, clean and well maintained. The rooms have very comfortable beds, mini fridge, tea/coffee, decent size wine glasses and a complimentary bottle of wine and bottled water. There is a TV, but we didn't turn it on. Good Wi-Fi and a stunning breakfast each morning. They have a nice restaurant on site, but we only had breakfast there. We were in Room 1. The bathroom is in need of some renovation and a little more TLC would go a long way in making the accommodation outstanding. Little things like the plug missing from the basin, dirt trapped in the grouting and around the shower screen. A dangerous hole where the drainage trap is, missing shelves, etc. Our friends in Room 2 and 3 also had bathrooms that need renovations and TLC. In Room 2, the curtains had not been put back in place properly and she had to re-hook them in order for them to close. The locks on the patio doors are a bit flimsy and hard to open. The garden needs a little bit of weeding, but other than that, we really enjoyed our 3 night stay.

The rooms were beautiful with a separate lounge area with a fire place. Each room also has a patio area. The fact that they have a generator during load shedding was definitely a plus factor as this is the reality of SA now. Getting a complimentary bottle of wine was the cherry on the top. All the staff at the guest house and at 96 winery road where breakfast was served were all so friendly with big smiles. Will definitely stay here again

I was greeted by most friendly staff at reception who helped me get settled in my cottage which was nestled in the peaceful greenery. The accommodation is spacious and has a wonderful fireplace in the lounge. The bedroom and bathroom has all amenities needed and not forgetting a bar fridge in the lounge with complimentary wine. The breakfast served in the restaurant was so delicious! I’m Definitely coming back for a longer stay.

I had a lovely time at the Country Guest House. The hospitality was great with attention to detail. It was very cold in Stellies at the time and they would ensure that my room is heated before I arrive every time. I also enjoyed the complimentary bottle of rose.

We only spent one night at the Country Guest House but found it very comfortable and beautiful. Lovely to look out at the garden and then the vineyard. The pool is lovely and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We found the breakfast well prepared but the menu a bit limiting for our dietary requirements which we did specify when we booked. The location is excellent for the wine route and Stellenbosch attractions
