We enjoyed our brief two night stay at Easy Five in Somerset West.The property was easy to find and very conveniently placed to visit the vineyards. Our host was very welcoming and the pools a useable size.. The garden is very easy on the eye with Sun lounges available and plenty of shade when needed. We will visit again.

The Canadian host was one of the most inshospitable, unhelpful I have ever met - anywhere in the world. He just sat there while I moved everything from my car to the room on arrival and then back to my car when I left. When I asked for help with the heavy cases (I am 74 years old) he told me he had a bad back....He made no effort to get various guests together in the evenings around the pool and, when I dared to point this out, he accused me of 'complaining' ! He ruined my birthday with his unpleasantness and, when I told him I wanted to move out early, he agreed to the two days notice. He said 'fine, then I will open up the bookings again'. However, when I checked Hotels.com the next day, I discovered that he had not and that the place was advertised as being fully booked! I then texted him to let him know I would still be moving out the next day, would then hand over the keys and let him refund me the R16,100.00 I had already paid in advance for the remaining days at the overpriced rate of R1150.00 per night... After loading up my car (while he sat by the pool!), I handed over the keys and gave him my credit card for the refund. He looked straight at me and asked me 'What's that for?' I simply could not believe it when he told me he wasn't going to refund me. I was dumbfounded. Since then, I have been very unwell and in shock. I now have a lawyer helping me to recover all that money - about £800.00!!! This man, Francis Moran, should NOT be allowed to continue running a guesthouse in ths country.…

I don't know what happened between Cara's first stay with us in December, when she called us a "Charming place" and a "very special place" in a 10-out-of-10 review on Expedia, and her second stay with us when nothing seemed to meet her satisfaction. Her key disgruntlement seemed to be my disinclination to act as her personal social convenor, and, in particular, my refusal to ask the rest of my guests to vacate the premises entirely for several hours one afternoon and evening so she could throw a private birthday party for herself. Although she was more than welcome to have friends over for a braai, no guesthouse operator is going to kick the rest of the guests off the property so one of them can have the whole place to herself. Our terms and conditions, which Cara signed not once but twice, make it quite clear that "In the event of an early departure, the full amount of your stay will be charged." This is pretty standard everywhere in the hospitality business. Notwithstanding this, and despite her several days of foul name calling and abuse, I advised her that should we get any bookings for the nights she was vacating, I would consider refunding that revenue to her. Anyone reading this review can read the rest of our reviews on this site, or pop over to booking.com where, at the same time as Cara was experiencing this "shocking treatment", guests have left us 12 10-out-of-10 reviews in a row this season. You can decide for yourselves whether or not this review has any merit whatsoever. I have asked Trip Advisor to remove this review as it does not meet their standards.

Easyfive Guest House let you feel like home. Very friendly owner and staff. Breakfast as you like. Nice, clean rooms and a wonderful pool. Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Some rooms have a private patio or garden. We will come again next year.

Francis and Linda are the most amazing hosts we've come across. Beyond accommodating, helpful, incredibly friendly and all around amazing. We were a group of 13 traveling through Cape Town at Christmas and were treated like family at Easy Five. The 13 of us couldn't recommend this guest house enough

We were four guys on a golf vacation and really enjoyed our time at the easy five. Very unique guest rooms that were clean and comfortable. It felt very safe. Nice breakfast area beside the pool in the mornings. The pool was heated and clean. Probably the best part was the braai we cooked up one evening on the guest patio, even got some of the other guests to join in on the feast. Francis (owner) was very welcoming and accommodating. He was full of local knowledge and was able help us with our golf bookings. The golf is spectacular! He cooked us great breakfasts and made superb coffee! We’ll be back! Thank you Francis!

We had a good stay at Easy Five. The rooms were. Lean and comfortable and clean. The pool was wonderful. The host was friendly and accommodating. I did feel that it was perhaps a bit overpriced for what it is and that you could perhaps get better accommodation in the area for around the same price.

We had a wonderful 3-day stay at Easy Five, and I really wish we could have stayed longer! 3 of us stayed in the Buffalo apartment, which is very spacious and spans 2 floors. It had everything we needed for self-catering, and was was clean, fully functional and very homely. The shared areas were beautiful and included a lovely swimming pool and fully stocked bar. Staying in the neighbourhood also meant minimal light pollution, so lots of stars to admire in the evenings. The property is safe and situated in a nice area. No problems with walking into town or to the shops. We were especially sad to leave Red, the residential rescue pup! Highly recommended, and by far the best place we stayed whilst in SA. We hope to return again soon.
