Detailed Reviews
Africa Lodge is a beautiful accommodation! Attention to detail in the decor of the rooms and the attention to care of the stunning gardens at the property are impressive.
Paula is a good host and with he cleaning and breakfast team, we received great service during room cleaning and breakfast each morning. The fresh fruit for breakfast is beautiful, but there could be more variety at breakfast, as it was very repetitive each morning.
Despite it's picturesque setting, you 100% need a car as even the local shops are a drive away. It did feel quite isolated, so make sure you bring your own transport.
The noise from the road adjacent to our room and the dogs barking at all hours were the downside and did affect our sleep most nights unfortunately.
Overall, a wonderful property with so many quirky and well-designed aspects to the accommodation and gardens.
Thank you Paula and Erik and Happy New Year to you both!

A delightful guesthouse set in wonderful surroundings and close to the wine and golf. We had 3 great nights there and took the opportunity to visit many domains. Also the breakfasts are memorable- fresh fruit and excellent bacon and eggs. Happy campers!

We had a wonderful time at the Africa Lodge, we stayed for 4 weeks and had a great time exploring the area.
The Lodge is centrally located and fully equipped, a lovely King size bed with luxury bedding, seating in- and outside with a nice private terrace.
The bathroom is lovely too with a wonderful rain shower and beautiful old-school design.
The garden is beautiful. The pool is great and has plenty of shade from the huge palm trees that are there with a great view of the mountain. The breakfast is super; fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, fresh rolls and delicious homemade marmalade from the lemon trees growing by the pool.
In the garden is a pavilion where breakfast is served and in the afternoon you can drink wine there. Highly recommended!

If I had to summarize my stay I would say: Clean, comfortable, convenient and very friendly! I was met by the owner when I arrived and he showed me to my room after I had parked in the secure parking. It was during load shedding but everything worked due to the large battery system which they have installed. My room was large and spotlessly clean. There was high quality linen on the bed. There was a fridge with a couple of complimentary waters, a large jar of mixed nuts and a bottle of wine! The bathroom was fully equipped and featured a large comfortable shower. A decent hair dryer was also supplied. There is a comfortable deck outside the rooms and a few steps away is a brand new swimming pool surrounded by shady trees. There is also a separate dining room one can use. All in all a very pleasant stay in lovely surroundings!

+1
We had an amazing stay at the Africa lodge. Such a beaufitul place with all those great details. From the warm welcome at the airport where Erik and Paula picked us up and the welcome wine in the beautiful garden until the end of our stay; it was all amazing. We stayed in the Wildebeest appartment, which is nicely decorated with African details. A spacious appartment with a nice and very clean bathroom. The breakfasts are delicious and taking care of by the great staff. Erik and Paula are very friendly hosts who can give you advice about the spots you would like to visit. If your are going to South Africa; this is a great place from which you can discover different places!

We were staying in the Africa Lodge for one night last March, but could have stayed for way more. Such a pretty oasis; lovely garden and a very nice pool. The room was very spacious, luxurious and comfy with nice pieces of art. The bed was very nice as well so we had a great good night sleep. We woke up to a delicious breakfast to be enjoyed in the lush garden. The lodge is close to Capetown and also very close to the Winelands so great location to enjoy all the nice things South Africa has to offer. Also a big plus: the hosts are very kind and happy to help and give tips where to go. So, long story short: Africa lodge is a must if you are planning a trip to SA!!

The Dutch hosts Paula and Erik bought the old lodge 2 years ago and completely rebuilt and renovated it in one year. Paula (own design studio) has furnished all the rooms in an African-European style. The garden has many old trees and has been decorated with many new plants.
We can only agree with the existing reviews about breakfast, restaurant and golf course reservations, and excursion tips. After making the reservation, you also receive a 50-page brochure with all the information by email.
Our room was the Wild Beast Suite and we felt very comfortable.
Paula and Erik, keep having lots of nice guests and all the best for the future!

We had chosen a nice spacious room, which also fit as shown in the photos. It was also basically clean, there and there it would have needed a little more attention. But the dung buckets and ashtrays were emptied upon request.
The breakfast offer was okay, though not very varied. One type of juice, yogurt, fruit and cereal were served without asking.
Paula and Erik are nice and at pains, but not the born hosts.
We have already experienced significantly better 5-star houses in SA.

We couldn’t have a better place to start our 1st visit to South Africa. We felt at home from the first moment at Africa Lodge with Paula and Eric, they are great hosts. They are Africa lovers at heart, have traveled the whole African continent, and share their adventurous travel experiences with pleasure. They showed us the best wineries and places of Stellenbosch. At the end of each day it was wonderful to relax by the pool in their beautiful African oasis! The lodge is very modern, the rooms are attractively furnished and decorated in African style by Paula herself. We miss it already and come back soon!
