As a very happy and returning guest to this intimate 3-flatlet guesthouse, I again was spoiled by the owners, Johan and JoAnne, to a most enjoyable stay with a scrumptious breakfast, all inclusive flat where we could cook for ourselves. This is an upmarket facility, run by only the owners. We never felt crowded, as there are only three units, and the owners ensure one’s safety especially regarding high standard of hygiene. We will definitely return to this beautiful and peaceful guesthouse, with the most fantastic garden.

I had the opportunity to return to Blaauwheim with my family after Covid restrictions had eased, and was warmly welcomed back by Johanne and Johan. I stayed in the Pinotage suite which is a luxury suite on the ground floor, and is fully appointed with a double bedroom and separate lounge/kitchenette area - extra touches include the Nespresso coffee machine, carafe of dessert wine (naturally outstanding!) and sanitised remote controls for TV, airconditioner and Digital receiver.
Breakfast is legendary with Johan crafting works of art every morning using the local fruit selection.
Johanne has a fabulous well kept garden with indigenous flora eg Clivia/Strelitizias and accompanying chameleons which we were able to handle and photograph.
It was a delight to stay here again, in what must be one of the most well appointed and luxurious guesthouses in the world!
This is a must for any discerning traveler.

I had the pleasure of recently finding Blaauwheim Guest House very conveniently situated close to near by upmarket Helderberg Village.
The High standards and attention to detail, from the arrival to find clean well appointed rooms with very good WiFi, the most comfortable suit with the highest quality bed, linen. Large spacious bathroom with a large bath, shower, bidet and toilet where the finish quality fittings used. A remarkable hot water system with high pressure. Safety and security and off street parking ensured a wonderful peace of mind. Very friendly accommodating hosts. The most delicious breakfast, freshly baked croissants, fruit platter included a well cooked breakfast of egg, bacon and toast. Good coffee! International standard of accommodation and hospitality. World Class. Well recommended

The proprietors of this Somerset West guest house are amongst some of the friendliest hosts I have ever encountered. Straight away- it becomes clear that this specific establishment is based & structured on attention to detail to the umpteenth degree. The well manicured grounds comprise of various fauna and flora which is always a sight to behold- regardless of the season.
The suite was designed incredibly well & contains everything you might need for an overnight or an extended stay. It really does feel like home away from home!
Every morning- we were met with a delicious breakfast coupled with a beautiful fruit platter. While many establishments attempt to replicate this style of breakfast, it becomes clear that Blaauwheim has set the industry standard time & time again.
This Guest House is truly the crown jewel of the Somerset West area!

As a return visitor, I again was welcomed and spoiled by the owners, Johan and JoAnne. Due to the ever changing lockdown levels in SA, I enjoyed this time the luxury of this accommodation. With the comfortable and big bedroom with smart TV, Netflix etc., huge bathroom (where one can even really spoil yourself with a candle light bath for extra atmosphere, because the property has it’s own borehole). The unit has a huge lounge area with super big TV screen, a dining room area with a big round table and chairs, kitchen area with big refrigerator, gas + induction stove top, microwave/ convection oven, dishwasher etc. If needed, Johan will even stock the fridge with all extra necessities before one’s arrival.
The huge balcony and really magnificent, well kept and peaceful garden ( even with 18 chameleons) makes it the ideal place to recuperate (if needed), or just relax with a good book or two in at least 4 different locations, (under the trees and amongst the multiple cycads and other flowers) with comfortable garden tables and chairs. The whole area is flooded with WiFi.
This is a real gem to wind down.

My husband went back to Capetown SA for his high school reunion. We want to break our vacation on a good and relaxing note so we decided to go back to Blauuwheim Guest House. This is our second time visiting Blauuwheim and it was wonderful as our first time back in 2018. I love their exquisite breakfast starting with a beautiful decorated fruit salad follow with delicious and flaky croissant and sausage with sunny side up eggs. We love all the little personal touch and details. Blauuwheim property is well situated near many vineyard estates. This time due to covid 19 we decided to stay on the property and enjoy the serene garden scape, my husband enjoying reading and basking in the sun while i sit and knit with Jo Anne the Co owner of the Guest house. Rafiki the guard dog on the property help me ease my homesickness of missing my baby papillon back home. This visit we get to meet the new addition Catrain the cat , she’s very adventurous and funny. We love the amazing talking parrot, he can mimicked so many sounds and words. Our experience was wonderful and relaxing just like our last visit two years ago. We are looking forward to our next visit. Thank you Johan and Jo Anne and Richard and Rafiki for making our vacation end in a high note. Xo, The Cohens

Dear Sylvia You two are such unique people and we loved having you as guests at Blaauwheim again. Thanks for all the appreciation that shines through in this review. I also like a kindred spirit who enjoys hours of knitting as much as I do. Rafiki is alive and well and so are the rest of the family. Glad you made it our of the country before our dreaded lockdown started. Stay safe and healthy. Johan and Jo-Anne

I am a return visitor and never have I been disappointed in Blaauwheim! If you need a guesthouse where you can experience comfort, care and good service - do not look any further. What they have waiting for you are two very upmarket, fully equipped suites and a Deluxe room with all the amenities that you can think of. Johan and Jo-Anne are truly friendly and caring hosts and will assist you in any way they can - an outstanding base if you want to drive around the area, relax after a work commitment or just rest for a few days.

Beautiful surroundings with beautiful people, red wine and a dinner fitted for kings and queens. What more can you expect from Johan and Jo-Ann.
We had an unforgetable time with them and friends with Johan being the shef. He nailed it to the books. Tx Johan.
Jo-Ann gave us a very nice setting with really nice salads to complement Johan's cooking.
Well done!!
This guest house is sure worth to visit.
Can"t wait to visit again!!

The rooms are beautifully furnished, the beds are very comfortable, and the hosts/owners Jo-Anne and Johan Blaauw are very attentive, without being intrusive, and really make you feel at home!
The breakfasts are out of this world with every combination of breakfast foods you can imagine.
It is situated on the outskirts of Somerset West, relatively close (without the traffic noise) to the R44 between S West and Stellenbosch.
The garden is beautiful, with its own 'forest' in which you can 'walk about'.
The security is very good and one feels very safe!
