If you like to have downtime and chill then this is your place. Beautiful nature at the lake. There are couple of houses at the lake, but a lot of privacy.
You need to come over a hill on a sandy path, but worked fine with my city car.

Take all the food that you need. And a coffee press (if you are a coffee drinker like me) the supermarket is on the other side of the hill. And take stuff with you for the 🦟 I had a candle en body spray and didn’t get bitten.
And leave the tent always closed.

You can see that the place has had some time in the outdoor. But everything is clean and good condition.

The beds are very good and I like the outdoor bathroom. There is a screen if you want more privacy.

There is a Kano you can use or take a swim in the lake. Play board games or like I did read a book. Very down to earth. I think you can hike here to, but I was only there for 1 night. (To short, needed more time)

Very friendly hostess and will recommend this place to my friends.

This was a great opportunity for us to feel at one with nature, and we did just that!
It's a secluded hide-out, that allows you the true feeling of camping, without having to bring the kitchen sink. Everything you need is there - fridge, stove, water, beds & bedding, tent, electricity, shower, toilet, braai area, table & chairs... We never imagined a pristine "gem" like this existed in Sedgefield. The fresh crisp mornings were filled with song from various birds as the sun came up. We used a boat everyday to explore the vlei, this was the best for me - it was awsome! Sunsets around our braai, meat sizzling, whilst sipping on a frosty, taking in the postcard view - it's not surprising we stayed an extra 2 days (by special arrangement) - Simply breathtaking and good value for money. Take binoculars and camera.., also go and explore the quaint town......

Within 5 minutes of being at Bushbuck Camp we knew that we HAD to stay longer... and we did! What a special place. Enough comforts to be comfortable - hot water, kitchen setup with fridge, gas stove, kettle and toaster, electric blankets (awesome for winter nights), braai area, bathroom. But "outdoorsy" enough to feel like a secret escape from life's busyness - outdoor shower, tent setup, right on the water. We loved it! We were able to use the pedalo and canoes, which was great for exploring the area from the water and watching the sunset from a pontoon in the middle of the lagoon. The bird life was stunning! A highlight was seeing a Fish Eagle catch a fish right in front of us. And a little Robin which kept us company throughout our stay. We will be back!

Stunning venue for the perfect break away. Had priceless moments there. If you are looking for a quite place where the birds wake you up, this is it. Close to Sedgefield. The market on Saturday's also added that farm touch to the weekend. Will go there again soon.

We will definitely be going back! Great deck looking out over a beautiful dam. The paddleboat and kayaks were a lot of fun. Very secluded and gorgeous. It is lovely to wake up to birds singing! We also saw two bushbuck. Would recommend to all nature enthusiasts!

Was first time staying in Sedgefield, and can really recommend Bushbuck Camp. Its isolated and a perfect gettaway, giving the feeling that you have the whole lake to yourself. The bird life is magnificent, starting with the Knysna Loeries that perch in the trees next to the camp. In the evening you can hear the bushbuck barking and we had the pleasure to be woken up by otters frolicking in the lake in the middle of the night. During the day there is access to canoes and we paddled all the way to Swartvlei. On the way seeing magnificent views of the mountains in the background and the wonderful bird life. I am an avid fisherman, but with the winter rains the salinity of the vlei in front of the camp was very low. we did see some fish rise but i expect these to have been bass, carp or barble. Half way to Swartvlei the water gets saltier and we started seeing prawn holes. There were many blow holes, some craters, from what i can only expect big grunter/steenies. We were spinning and after leeries, however (maybe coz it was winter) didnt have a chase.

The accommodation is fantastic, good comfy beds, sufficient bedding as it was a lil chilly at night after leaving the braai. Kitchen has all you need with a good working fridge and freezer. you have all the luxuriates of a cabin but the freedom of not being closed in by walls. The tent is massive and I never got the feeling of 'tenting' which i dont like. For the ladies the bathroom is great with a shower (with hot water) offering great views of the lake.

the road to the camp isnt the best, but i got down easily in my polo

Thanks again Natalie

Such an awesome place for a proper relax and connection to nature - we thoroughly enjoyed this venue!

Only complaint is the shoddy kitchen - poorly and cheaply stocked and several broken items. If you are charging guests then you don’t provide recycled and broken equipment. The cheap and nasty was out of place with the rest of the facilities.

Despite this we will visit again as such a beautiful place!
