Travellers' Choice
Afrovibe is located in Sedgefield, one of the most sublime coastal destinations in South Africa. It is one of many small towns which punctuate the celebrated Garden Route coastline, but it stands apart because of both its awesome, friendly vibe and wealth of surrounding natural assets. Afrovibe Beach Lodge provides the perfect base from which to explore the myriad of attractions in the region. Sedgefield is paradise. It boasts a sweeping 14km stretch of sand and sea, age-old forests, fossilized dunes and myriad of lakes. It was declared Africa’s first Cittaslow Town back in 2010, joining more than 100 towns around the world in a pledge to promote a better quality of life, a spirit of community and a profound respect for the environment. But don't be fooled by its 'Slow Town' status, this popular coastal hamlet is a genuine hotspot for travellers looking for the most adrenaline-fuelling adventures possible. Our in-house Adventure Centre offers activities both mild and wild. Spoilt for choice, adventure junkies are able to immerse themselves in the wonders of the natural world through a variety of popular outdoor pursuits such as kite surfing, paragliding, surfing, SUP'ing (Stand up Paddle), canoeing, hiking and mountain biking. Afrovibe offers a variety of accommodation options to suit the needs and preferences of a diverse clientèle, including both private rooms, family rooms and dorm rooms, all of which are en-suite. The rooms are clean and comfortable with self-catering facilities at your disposal. Facilities include: an in-house bar and restaurant, adventure booking desk, free WiFi, secure off street parking, Baz Bus Stop and friendly, helpful staff.

We found Sedgefield absolutely stunning! From the road it looks like any other town but as you explore further along the lagoon and river and down to the beach a whole other world opens up. Myoli beach is a spectacular stretch of untouched sea, sky and nature. Afrovibe is pretty fantastic, its newly upgraded rooms are stunning and the place is perfectly kept with fantastic facilities. The family who runs it are truly special and make you feel right at home. If you are up for activities you can wonder down the road to the activity center and restaurant name PiliPili. There is so much to explore in the area and if the conditions are right head up to the paragliding strip!

The friendly reception staff were about the only positive about this place. Dodgy internet connection meant no Netflix or YouTube, threadbare bathroom mat (with actual holes in it), a towel rail in the tiny bathroom that is so close to the toilet that I still have black & blue bruises, rooms facing the pool area run the risk of being loud way into the night if people are partying at the pool, cramped rooms no storage space other than one rather rustic bookcase type thing (and the top of a loud bar fridge) (had to switch this off at night in order to sleep). Coffee was nauseating, breakfast bacon & eggs pretty awful, catering staff didn't seem too excited about being there... All in all quite a shabby experience. I could go on and on, but will spare you the boredom!
