Our en suite cabanas are available as family rooms for up to 4 guests or double and twin rooms. They are decorated in keeping with our "barefoot sophistication" motto, and all rooms open up onto a wrap-around balcony from where to view our beach and ocean, mountains or natural fynbos. From here you can explore 30km of unspoilt beaches, our pristine estuary, or the bustling not-so-slow Slow Town of Sedgefield, situated midway between Knysna and George. Whether you choose to kick back and relax or go out and grab it by the horns, with its natural splendor, action packed activities and great restaurants and markets we believe you will have an awesome stay.

Being close to the beach is great. I think in high season the public car park in front of the hotel may be noisy. Rooms are very small for 4 people. The music at the bar downstairs makes an afternoon rest impossible. Pizzas were good. hotel parking is not secure. Its still a good place to stay as the beach is great and can go for long walks. The river is close by.

The target market certainly changed from a backpacker destination to a B&B with no self catering facilities. The experience was completely different than the one we had in 2016, but not necessarily a bad option for accommodation if you are only spending the night or planning on only sleeping at the premises. The dorm room has no fridge and no forms of self catering is allowed(no braai's, no gas stoves). The Covid-19 pandemic and regulations at that time banned the sale of alcohol and forced the restaurant to close at 9:00 in the evenings where we planned on spending most of our time due to the very limited facilities and crowded dorm room and although the management could not do anything about this, no efforts were made to try and accommodate/assist us. The place is well kept and neat, just make sure you are not expecting the old Pili Pili experience if you are revisiting this place. The pandemic and it's effects made it difficult to enjoy, but I believe the stay can be very enjoyable under normal circumstances.

To start the review I have to mention that die location of the accommodation is really nice however the staff was really rude and unhelpful. First of all the description of the place on the website is somewhat misleading and we did not know we would be so limited in terms of self catering. After numerous discussions with the admin person is was made apparent that we were not allowed full access of the premises due to a couple of silly reasons. We did however confirm that we had access to the balcony right outside our door. Thus, we made full use of the balcony due to Covid regulations limiting our access to other areas in Sedgefield. After 4 days we were quite unpleased with the way we were limited by really silly rules and unhelpful service. This would include the following: No fridge, wifi not working, no access to the premises in numerous ways and complaints from the staff that we were not allowed to use the balcony. The fact that the staff said we do not have access to the balcony completely contradicted what we discussed on the phone prior to the stay. We then mentioned our concerns to the staff and the staff started getting rude and started yelling at us. This was when the manger intervened, instantly assuming we were at fault and used a variety of swear words and dissing us as children. I now know why the manager reacted the way he did, he receives false information from one of his staff members that has quite the wrong attitude towards guests. This staff member was indeed not accommodating at all and conveys wrong information to the manager that adds fuel to the fire. The staff member told the manager that she did tell us that the balcony was off limits to us, but when we were on the phone and in person she said we can use it. Regardless of what the staff member told us, it is really really unreasonable to expect us not to use the balcony. To put things into perspective, we are 14 people in a small dormitory with limited space. Of all the rooms that are for 3 or 2 people why should we be the only ones with no access to the balcony?? In the end of the day Covid limited the place in various ways that really hurt their income and I feel their pain. However, we ate 70% of our meals at the restaurant thus fiercely supporting the place and this is the type of treatment we receive? We did indeed not feel like customers. To give the place some leeway it was Covid time and it made things very difficult for everyone.

The facilities were excellent. 2 things that has deteriorated since my previous stay, in my opinion. 1. The breakfast is not value for money. 2. I would like to braai at the facility again. The facilities are really the best backpacker I've ever stayed at.

The rooms are small with basic facilities, but clean. They are not cabanas, but rooms on the 1st floor. There is no lift. Each room has a fan. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. You need to have your own beach towels. The restaurant downstairs is very good with excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. The beach is on the doorstep with miles of beautiful sands.
