Swartvlei Guest Farm is a self-catering, pet friendly Guest Farm situated a mere 15km from Sedgefield. 5 self-catering en-suite cottages and an historic Manor house built in 1883 which can sleep up to 12 guests. Communal swimming pool, tennis-court, clubhouse and conference room ( reception hall | chapel) can all be found on site. Canoeing, Wolverivier abseiling, rock climbing, bird watching, hiking with your pets, cycling trails, viewpoint picnic spot, and a 3km hike to the rock pools are some of the activities hosted on the farm. We booked two cottages for our family (one adult and one kid per cottage) over the school holidays. The place was next to perfect for our needs. The setting was beautiful - the resident Knysna Loerie was a bonus. The cottages were simple and elegant (amazing bathrooms) with very simple kitchen facilities, but a good braai per cottage and a fully equipped communal kitchen. We loved the pool and the games room. Unfortunately when we were there the rowing boat was broken, so we couldn't mess around on the vlei, but the Estate was close enough to Sedgefield, Wilderness and hiking trails that that hardly mattered. With just five cottages and the main house, the place didn't feel crowded even when fully occupied. If you want to be just a little off the beaten track, but still close enough to towns, then this is the place for you.

Our family met in the Garden Route for Christmas 2020, and Swartvlei Equestrian Estate was the perfect choice for us to rest, relax, play and enjoy each other's company. We had three separate cottages providing privacy and comfort yet we were connected and close. We had free access to 'the kitchen', as this is a self-catering option, which was a large barn like building with a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely large dining table, perfect for our family meals and always cool in the heat of the day. We made full use of the pool, tennis court and games room and the little ones loved the freedom of being able to move from one cottage to another without constant supervision. This estate is beautifully maintained, secluded and away from it all, which meant that we didn't miss going to the beach only left for essential shopping trips. Naomi and her team were always helpful and friendly and I highly recommend Swartvlei Equestrian Estate.

This was the first time we stayed at Swartvlei. I have already provisionally booked the same space for the same time next year. We had a very pleasant break from the hustle & bustle of city life. We celebrated New Year with family also staying at Swartvlei and family from the nearby SanParks resort at the Estate with a braai into the early ours of Jan, with no disturbance to any other guests. Thank you Naomi, for your excellent hospitality, (nothing was too much for this pregnant lady), very much appreciated. KItchen and leisure facilities were also good. Great place for peace & quiet and recharging your batteries after a hard year, or drive to nearby beaches for more activity. Thank you again, Naomi.

We booked the manor house. It was comfortable with beautiful sash windows and yellowwood floors. The farm dogs gave us a friendly welcome and the bird life was phenominal. A pool to swim in and a Vlei to row on. Perfect for quiet getaway.

Swartvlei is a little piece of heaven, far enough from the town to be peaceful and quiet and yet close enough to get necessities when needed. We felt at home in this beautiful space and our dogs loved it too. Would recommend to any large family that travel together.

We are a large family, 9 people and six dogs. Can only say good things about this place. It is truly peaceful with majestic views of the countryside, forest and lake. It was lush and green and has a pool braai area as well as an indoor braai in the bar/games room. The staff are lovely and very helpful and the rooms are spacious and well equipped. It rained most of our stay so we could not walk as much as we wanted to but we’re still able to have a good holiday, We used the pizza oven, played pool, had both i for and outdoor braais, swam and simply relaxed.The dogs had a great time too.
The beach is 15mins away. The road to town is a sand road which is rather uneven so best to drive in a car that is high off the ground.

Beautiful well-appointed cottages, both neat and clean. Swartvlei is a lovely place to rest and re-charge your batteries. Beautiful gardens, lovely pool area, fire-pit area too. Amy was lovely and a pleasure to deal with, we will definitely stay there again when travelling in the area.

A very special short stay, will remember for a long time. Amy went out of her way to help us from start to finish..
