Andre and Jackie are truly great hosts who creates a relaxed chilled environment. The archery was so lekker, we had so many laughs with Andre, making us feel comfortable in doing something that none of us had done before.
COVID19 protocols was at top of the list of priorities making us feel safe.
The location is something that we cannot get over, if you want a getaway that is truly in the mountains but still close to Cape Town, then Assegaai Rest Camp is the best place.
Thank you Andre and Jackie

We visited Assegai over the terrible Cape storms over the long weekend of September 2023. Our car was stuck at a wedding venue outside of Swellendam due to the flooding in the area and Jackie and Andre graciously offered to not only assist with towing our car, but that the car can stay on the farm until we can get it fixed. The accommodation was great, clean and the surroundings just breathtaking. Jackie and Andre are attentive hosts and who cares and makes you feel extra welcome. We will definitely visit again!

Had a wonderful stay in Assegai House, Andre and Jackie were wonderful hosts. Always available to assist with recommendations.
The archery was a hit with everyone and we all had a great time hiking.
The house was clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of wood for braaiing and the inside fire place.

Our weekend getaway at this establishment was nothing short of disastrous.

Firstly, do not be misled by their advertising, its by far not a peaceful getaway. Its noiser than living in cape town central. Nothing more than a standard public camp site Owners, nor a representative present on premises to enforce the rules stated on check in.

Secondly, the "private ablutions" they mention are not private at all. They just say that to avoid having to send in a cleaning service. No locks on the ablutions so you have to clean other guests filth before you can use them. Absolutely disgusting

They advertise pet friendly accommodation and advise on the rules regarding dogs on leads. But due to owners lack of supervision our dogs and ourselves were attacked on a trail walk by other guests dogs that were off lead. Eventually when the owners replied to WhatsApp correspondence hour later, we were told that they are away for the weekend and therefore cannot deal with the situation.

So to everyone looking for a nice, safe, quiet place to take your pets along for a weekend away. There are plenty other more suitable places to spend your money.

We wont be back.

Worst experience ever.

After re-reading this appalling review we are both saddened and disappointed. We both pride ourselves on our customer service; as shown by our ongoing followers and 5 star reviews. The inaccuracy of events and embroidered stories continue to amaze us, and this happening only after they got home after a 3 night stay. As owners of a pet friendly establishment we take notifications of a ‘dog attack’ to another dog and owner very seriously. We continue to follow the right route by requesting photos of the injuries as well as the Vet and Dr accounts, for consideration to our lawyers, and still none received. We have taken up the inaccuracies with Trip Advisor, and have sent them a full and accurate record of both sides of the story. Signing off with pride. Jackie & Andre ASSEGAI REST

Beautiful surroundings. Loads of trails. Best camping experience we've had in a while. Easy camping with the best bathrooms, fit for a hotel. Quick to set up camp as most camping stuff are provided. A lot of thought has gone into this place. Very clean and super neat. Great for winter camping as we made a fire in the tipi - romantic! Bonus is that it is pet friendly and close to loads of wine-farms. Owners are very welcoming. We have nothing bad to say about this place. We will return !!!!!!

Spent two nights at the Tipi camp Paws. The Tipi is just awesome, the people are welcoming and very caring and not to mention the view! It has everything you need in a getaway. Lovely pool, massages, good facilities, outside shower, hiking trails and it's near Robertson which really has many activities. It will not disappoint.

Beautiful scenery and the tipi was warm and comfortable. However, the frying pan was very old and nonstick which made cooking difficult. The bed did not have a headboard so the pillow continuously fell off the bed making sleeping difficult. Overall though, the outdoor bath and shower made it a lovely experience.

Hi Alex Thank you for your kind words about the Noy Noy TiPi glamping experience, as left in our guest book. Due to the conical/pyramid shape of the TiPi, the best way to save space is to lower the bed and place it as close to the "edge" as possible. This makes an inside fireplace possible in the winter, and avoids a wet bed from rain coming down the middle. Therefore a headboard is not a viable option, unless we place the bed in the middle of the tent and forego the fireplace! The large metal pan, which was never a non-stick item, is actually an expensive French imported De Buyer pan and is specifically made for cooking on a gas burner and outdoor fires. Each of our sites has such a pan and is used without fail or negative comment. In our experience true non-stick pans are not hard wearing enough for our accommodation business. Kind regards Andre

We had the most fabulous glamping experience at Assegai rest. Every thing was wonderfully clean, with loads of original ideas. We stayed in the honeymoon Tipi, which had its own private outdoor bath and shower, which was heavenly, nestled between the trees. Each campsite is private and no music allowed, which makes listening to nature's sounds amazing. There are a couple of different walking trails, bird watching, a sparkling pool and wonderful hammocks for the guests to enjoy. André and Jacky were marvelous hosts, friendly and ready to help with anything that you might need assistance with. I will definitely be returning, and recommending Assegai rest to all my friends.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Magic Tipi and it was the best 3 nights of our holiday. the hosts thought of everything and even spent the time to show our 3 year old a little tortoise. if you want to be one with nature but with some luxury this is the place for you. we will deffenatly stay again!

We absolutely loved our stay in the tipis, so much so that we've been back three or four times now and each time have had a fantastic stay. Jackie and Andre are really lovely and have thought of everything. It's so awesome that you can bring your dog - ours loves it! It was freezing cold last time we stayed there, but the fire in the tipi and the firepit outside make it nice and cozy. There are lots of nice walks from the camp and plenty of wine farms in the area to stock up at for nights by the fire under the most incredible stars. We've already booked our next visit and look forward to introducing our friends from the UK to a very special place.
