We recently booked and spent five nights at Mallowdeen Gardens and our hosts Rita and Wim made us feel welcome from the start. They gave us our space but were also always available if needed and helped with bookings and advice. We were in the cottage (apartment) behind the main house which was more secluded than the pool units and had a built in braai next to the covered patio. This unit is comfortable nicely decorated and has a lovely small kitchen with modern appliances. It was exceptionally hot during our stay and although the unit does not have air conditioning it was quiet cool and we managed with the fan provided. There is a delightful heated pool a short one minute walk away where the other three thatched cottages are situated and which also has a breakfast boma. (breakfast is supplied on request). We loved the quietness, the stars, and the beauty and views of the mountains and as a bonus the abundant wildlife including guinea fowl and buck. There are a couple of dams where one can also see different water fowl. The large gardens are beautiful and have different themes throughout well worth a walk in the evenings. As this is a working olive farm don't forget to take a few bottles home. There is a no children policy which we liked as it added to the peacefulness and serenity. This was for us the highlight of our three weeks traveling the Western Cape and we will definitely make this our base in future and do day trips from here. We will be back.…
Just passing by and saw the olive estate sign along the road; one of the three cottages was available - what a nicely decorate interior, realized with an eye for detail. The owners are quite involved and provided warm assistance. Definitely to keep in mind for a next time!
My wife and I recently took a break from the hustle and bustle for our anniversary weekend and booked into Mallowdeen Gardens!!!!!! WHAT CAN I SAY!!!!!!! Rita and Vims hospitality was fantastic. The rooms are perfect, the breakfast service was amazing and the views were totally awesome. Nothing is too much for Rita (who even managed to make a last minute dinner booking for me). The gardens are amazing and need to be explored. I am usually very fussy when it comes to B&B stays, but I would hesitate at all to recommend Mallowdeen Gardens. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED!!!!
After spending time in busy Cape Town, Hermanus and Mossel Bay we had a day to spare and booked a night at Mallowdeen. The only problem was that we could only stay for one night as it was so calm and peaceful, located in beautiful gardens, and with hosts Rita and Wim who were so helpful. We arrived early in the evening and needed somewhere for dinner, so Wim not only booked a table for us at a great local restaurant (Mo & Rose), but also provided a free taxi service both ways. If you are travelling around in this part of the Western Cape, Mallowdeen is a charming place to stop off and relax for a day or two, and make sure that you take a walk around the amazing gardens.
Fantastic hospitality from the owners and hosts for B&B at Mallowdeen where we loved our cottage set in beautiful gardens with views to the mountains. This was a wonderful stop at the beginning of our garden route tour so we took the opportunity to sit by the pool for a day or two to chill out before going on with our journey. We enjoyed dinner on two evenings at Mo and Rose Bistro (just three door along the road) although there are other options with offers of lifts from the hosts or the restaurants.
