Myself and my partner and my partners sister, her partner and children stayed at the LAB Robertson at the end of January. We received a warm welcome from staff from the minute of unpacking our car and they assisted with our luggage. Myself and my partner were kindly upgraded to the Honeymoon suite which was stunning with its own jacuzzi and private sun deck. We had a lovely afternoon by the pool and the bar staff were so attentive providing refreshing drinks. The hotel has incredible views of the hills and we all felt instantly relaxed. We had the most incredible evening meal at the hotel restaurant so a huge thank you to the amazing chef. I had the lamb shank which was the best lamb shank I have ever had and the others had steaks which were cooked to perfection. The rooms are great size with big comfy beds and great facilities. All the staff we encountered were so friendly and are a credit to the hotel. Our only downfall is only staying one night! We will definitely return to stay longer next time! We will be recommending this stunning hotel to all our friends and family. Thank you again for an amazing stay!

This was our 2nd stay at the LAB. The hosts are warm friendly people and interact with the guests easily. The staff delivered exceptional service on all levels from the moment we arrrived till we left - it was actually a weird experience, seeing that customers service levels has dropped so badly in South Africa, i felt like a was a VIP - BIG BIG thumbs up to management and team. You nailed it.

The rooms at the back of the poolside is adequate but very very small, great shower and comfortable bed with all you need and an outside enclosed sitting area which is a bit of a dead area which i think can be revamped to enlarge the room area which will then make them value for money. Good for overnight stay but for longer stays i would choose poolside or something bigger.

Dinner was served in the wine cellar which is an amazing area.
The only disappointment we experienced was at dinner. Priced at chef standard quality food but did not deliver on portion or value for money.

It is definitely an area that in my opinion and my guests opinion could improve.

I will still recommend the LAB as it has so much more to offer.

Dear Nico Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at theLAB. It is always lovely to have return guests. This really give me a warm fuzzy feeling. I agree the Petit room you booked are our standard rooms and are smaller which is why it is price relevant. I am sorry to hear that you felt the prices were high and portions too small for your liking. If I look at our pricing in comparison to other restaurants in Robertson we are on par offering a more upmarket standard. This is definitely a matter of opinion. I do respect your transparency in sharing your opinion. We look forward to welcoming you and your beautiful wife back in the future. Kind regards Rita

If you are looking for a relaxing outdoor time together with upmarket accommodation then this will be the place to visit. My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary and wish that we could have stayed longer, but now have a reason to return. The accommodation with high tech voice command features was comfortable and clean. The host (Rita) was always friendly and accommodating and ready to assist in any need you might have. The restaurant on the premises makes it convenient because it is located outside of town. We enjoyed the scooter rides in the beautiful nature surroundings so much!

We arrived to find out the geyser in the room we booked had burst. We never received a call prior to arrival which was unfortunate as we drove all the way there to find this out. Further to this they didnt have a similar room to move us to, and the other rooms were not of the same standard, that they weren't private but opened up on the main swimming pool area and it didn't have a private jacuzzi.

We decided to continue with our spa treatment where things just got worse. The couples room was so small that the masseuses couldn't walk around and kept bumping the bed. The music was on spotify free which meant there were adverts every 15 minutes. The room was cold as well and we didnt end up using the communal jacuzzi as it was cold.

We then decided to cancel the accommodation and just drive home. We were promised a full refund and a free voucher to stay again. It has now been over 1 month and still no refund after several emails.

Such a disappointing experience. We just want our money back and to move on.

No hand towels.
No hot water.
No working fridge.
Cold jacuzzi.
No drinkable water.
No light in bathroom.
Bedside switch for light missing. Had to sleep with bedside lights on.
The blinds in the toilet is not in working order. You have to stand on the toilet to hook it up and down.
Fireplace not working (glass broken)
Your door handles are not economical. When closing from the inside, skin were grazed off fingers.
No "honesty" bar.
Dirty cups
No dustbin.
No telephone to reach reception
Breakfast: Waited 40 minutes for a cappuccino, and an hour for breakfast.
One of our guest's was simply not served (without explanation)
Other guests' breakfasts did not include all items ordered from the menu)
Echo only works sporadically.
Room NOT FULLY automated (false advertising)
In addition to the above, also worried about The Lab's COVID19 compliance. The (extremely) dirty cups make it evident that The Lab is not practising good hygiene practices.

This was truly a rejuvenating and quality stay. The staff were beyond helpful and were flexible to accommodate us with our needs. We were greeted every morning and enjoyed our breakfast next to nature with birds chirping. The food was great and more than enough to keep us energised for the day. We booked the room with private jacuzzi which was a bonus but that didn't stop us from enjoying the communal infinity pool. The room was automated with the echo sound system which activated with your voice command. The modern yet eco-conscious living was impressive and motivating. The accommodation was central to all activities. One of our favourite memories was made in theLab Robertson on the #ecoscooter, we got lost but that was part of the fun adventure! After a day out, we would come back to our rooms and noticed the bed was made, towels exchanged, bins emptied, jacuzzi refilled and ready for us to hop in. The room service was outstanding. Thank you theLab Robertson, we will definitely stop by again!

My friends and I were staying in Robertson and wanted to go for a SPA day. On arrival we were greeted and the views were amazing. We then proceeded to the SPA. The SPA which consists of two rooms were not cleaned properly and there were also some spiders in the room.

They do not have experienced SPA staff and the massage we paid top dollar for was horrible. We then wanted to have lunch but we had no service. We decided just to have something to drink and eat somewhere else. We waited forever for our drinks.

When we wanted to pay there was no communication between the SPA and front desk. The lady at the front phoned the spa about our treatments, we paid and left.

Later that day I received an email stating we still owe the SPA R400 as there was a short payment for the massages and that there was a misunderstanding between the staff. They rung up the incorrect massage. Which by the way is not the problem of the customer as we were there and payed what was asked of us.

The unhappiness of the staff towards management also made our experience very uncomfortable.

I would not recommend making use of their services.

Dear Jenny I do believe this review was manipulated by a casual staff member that played on your feelings as she admitted it to me. I did send you a message as I was not able to reach you. I explained the situation that it was unprofessional of the said casual to express her unhappiness to you and I do apologize for her behavior which was unacceptable and has been dealt with. I am surprised to hear that you were not happy with the service as everybody in your group were friendly on departure and thanked us for the day. I have wavered the short payment as I agree with you that there was a miscommunication between reception and SPA with regards to the treatment. This I apologize for. Our SPA is kept in pristine condition at all times and our therapists are fully trained however in your opinion they did not meet up to your expectations which I am sorry to hear about. Thank you for your support and I wish you a wonderful 2021.

Please add cup coasters to prevent spill into the side pedestal. In case there's a smal spill, there are no towels to wipe the spill. Maybe add towels also. Overall the place is great and would surely return with family

We feel that the room had nice features but we had cold water two days in a row and the towels weren't swop for new ones, was still very wet. When we asked for dry ones we couldn't use them, they had a food smell to them. Otherwise, we slept well and the surroundings/location is beautiful and the hostess and staff very friendly.

Don't open your doors if you are going to blame Covid for the bad service.
No phone to contact reception and even using your own they never answer.
The Jacuzzi which we had to pay for, was cold. No hot water as staff decided to switch off the geyser one night.
We were without electricity even though it was not loadshedding.
They advertise an honesty bar, there was nothing not even a bottle of drinking water. Coffee machine next to bed a very nice gesture but the cups filthy. Skipped that idea.
Bedside light was not working. Bathroom blinds broken.
Waited more than an hour for breakfast, which is overpriced and not at 4 star standards.
No guest towels or bathroom mats.
My husband works in Johannesburg and this was our first weekend together in a while. What was meant to be special and relaxing turned out to be stressful and disappointing.
Worst experience ever. We were told to stay in contact and we will be compensated, they are not replying to our emails or answering our calls.
Poor poor communication and service.
Never going back!
