Had a lovely stay at Jan's house. Kids loved playing in the riverstream, kayaking on the dam and exploring the mountain paths.
The hosts are very helpful, regulary enquiring if everything was in order.
And the black dog Mada (who is not supposed to be fed...) made us feel extra welcome!
For a romantic getaway, we will definately consider the Boshuisie, tucked away in the woods.

Hallo Lizl We are so glad that the adults and the kids enjoyed the stay here with us and we hope to see you again soon. I am sure that Mada (who I am sure was spoiled) enjoyed your stay just as much. The Boshuisie is just the right place for that romantic getaway and even the kids will enjoy being that close to the dam. See you again soon! Kind regards. Annatjie

As we prefer 'farm break-aways' De Hoop Cottages are really one of the best. Tucked away in the mountain among huge trees, it's the ideal place to 'recharge' the batteries.....The restored houses are clean, well equipped and have an outdoor and indoor 'braai' to suit any weather.....

De Hoop cottages are very well managed , as Eric Said "we sell relaxation" , very pleased about the no music no noise rule as we have had some bad experiences in the past at other establishments.
Easy walks to all the dams in really beautiful countryside or just chilling at the Spotless cottage enjoying the mountain views and bird life results in total relaxation . The only Small niggle is that , Ampies cottage parking space is a bit small for a larger vehicle , but we managed fine , plenty parking at the other cottages.

We decided to have a peaceful honeymoon and it was surely awesome! No cellphones, nice braai, away from everyone. Would definitely return for a holiday.

Price was very good, there is also wood you can buy on the farm itself.

Visit birds paradise too, very close and nice day outing.

Laaiplaas, the farm where the De Hoop Cottages are situated, is located at the end of a road that meanders towards the Langeberg from just outside Robertson. Here Laetitia and Eric, the congenial and helpful owners, are pleased to share this beautiful cul-de-sac at the foot of the mountains on one condition, "No music. No noise. Please". It is to be applauded indeed, how better to hear all the birdsong, the burbling of mountain streams, echos of baboons barking far away and the wind in the trees? Much reading, talking and walking (one can walk for hours here), and a barbecue or two thrown in for good measure, made for the perfect place to enjoy some downtime well away from the hustle and bustle, and noise, of Cape Town

We enjoyed our stay, although the dam is very far from the cottages and it's a steep walk, you'll get a good work out! Just a tip, the pot and the salad bowl provided is very small, I suggest bringing your own. The cottages are small, but it has everything you need. Nice big shower, enjoyed that.

I loved being directly under the mountain. At the time of my visit it was raining constantly, which was a pity as I would have liked to take a hike or two in the mountains. I liked the fact that the cottages were named after some of the farm workers. The cottage contained everything I required. Space was just a bit limited in the bedroom area with no storage space for clothing, etc.

Hi Deidre Thank you for taking the time to review our establishment. We are thrilled that you have enjoyed your stay at the foot of the mountain and hopefully when you visit us again you will be able to do some hiking. Although the farmers are ever so thankful for the rains. We hope to see you again soon. Keep well. Regards. Annatjie

Ideal if you want to get away from other humans. No one around.

A dam right next to the hut. You can walk up the mountain. Lovely vegetation.

It was raining during our visit so we did not get to experience much bird or smaller animal life. It is quite basic but exactly what you should expect. Gas lights in the hut is not ideal for reading, so come prepared. Lights in the "bathroom hut" (that is a separate builiding) works with a 12 volt battery so come prepared. Both wooden huts are neat. Gas cooker included.

I will visit again.

If you looking to get away from city life rat race....look no further.
You can chill in the peaceful ambience of the farm and its wonderful views.....recharge, relax and realign your thoughts, dreams, visions...but if the urge is there to explore the attractions of the area, that too is plentiful.
Cottage has all you basic needs to make a pleasurable stay and coupled with wonderful hosts, that are willing to assist where needed.

This was a holiday for my husband an I to relax. As it was our anniversary we truly enjoyed the quite and peaceful atmosphere.
The roads to the cottage can be upgraded and for load shedding a couple of lights or other means of lights can be put in the cottage. Thanks for having us.
