We spent two nights here and loved the central location in an upscale neighborhood. Our clean, comfortable and private studio apartment included a small kitchen and balcony with a view of the gardens. Breakfast was tasty and substantial, and our hosts offered excellent advice on where to go and what to do. Highly recommend staying here!

Had a great stay at this beautiful house/b&b in the heart of Robertson. The room on the first floor was large, clean and airy. Great plus was a large terrace facing the immaculate garden. You have the house to yourself after hours as the owner doesn't stay in the same house. Great pool and top breakfast served in the dining room of the house. Will certainly go back and is highly recommendable.

During our stop in Robertson we spent a night in DE OUDE OPSTAL. We have been driving on blue carpet of jacaranda blossoms straight to the entrance at the end of the street. What a special welcome! The main house is an old capestyle house in the middle of fantastic parklike garden. We stayed in the "out of africa room" which was decorated in wonderful african style. Especially the bathroom was lovely with all the typical african earth colours. The room was very clean and there was enough space for all travel equipment. The breakfast was excellent and served on the veranda. Although it is not quite cheap it is worth every rand you spend.

Having been here twice, I definitely wouldn't stay anywhere else in Robertson. Henk & Mardi Botha are excellent hosts, the period house is set in a spacious & quiet garden and it's also convenient located. The large bedroom had a good shower room and fast WiFi. Breakfasts are excellent. If you're interested in visiting any of the wine estates, Henk is extremely knowledgeable & helpful. Thoroughly recommended!

We had a short but lovely stay at this place. We enjoyed the very friendly hosts with helpful hints on vineyards, restaurants and outdoor activities. Thus we highly recommend this place. Robertson itself is situated in a beautiful landscape and def. worth a trip especially if you want to go to see a less touristic area with excellent vineyards.

We stayed only two nights but it was very pleasant and the owners were extremely helpful booking table for us both nights. The room was self catering if needed and there was a delightful garden. We shall call again if we are in the area.

We stayed there in November 2016 and we loved the place directly from the beginning. Garden & relaxing area with pool are very good - and thanks to Henk we´ve got an upgrade to the Mountain view suite : WOW ! a lovely room. Breakfast was just a small buffet BUT : it was like : "Tell me what you want - and you´ll get it ..." We enjoyed out (to short) stay.

We stayed at De Oude Opstal on February 3rd and took all three rooms.
Each of the rooms was quite differently decorated but all had the same degree of comfort and style. We loved it. The owner-managers were very helpful in providing local knowledge and they provided a splendid breakfast. In fact, we were sorry to go. Robertson, and de Oude Opstal, provides a good base for touring in the Cape Winelands as nowhere is too far for a day trip. There is some great scenery and some very tasty wine.

Having booked this property on its fabulous reviews we were disappointed with the lack of warmth and welcome from the owners, the location of the property which was in a populated suburb of Robertson, a town in itself very industrial and uninteresting, especially when compared with the delightful town of Montague. The garden and pool were very nice but sadly neglected. The pool, although a robot pool cleaner seemed to be permanently in place to clean the sides and bottom, could have used a daily clean with a net to scoop the debris of the top. The garden was indeed full of lovely birds but needed some TLC. It cam across that the owners were looking at this as purely a business venture and had no true love nor care of the property or the garden itself. The room was comfortable but again lack of service was apparent as only 1 refill of coffee was there and the fridge was not on. In other properties we had a fridge with bottles of cooled water and even a complimentary wine plus homemade cookies and plenty of tea and coffee refills. Perhaps we were simply spoiled by our previous guest house experience. We arrived on a Sunday and another difficulty was places to eat, only fast food places were available and none in walkable distance. It was adequate but I'd recommend staying in nearby Montague instead.

A pleasant historical property in Robertson in excellent condition, with personal attention from the owners. The rooms are well-furnished and the garden will be splendid when the refurbishment is complete.
