We stayed in the Farm House "cottage" which was so welcoming. Three bedrooms, spacious kitchen with little breakfast table in the kitchen and a dining room, a lounge, 2.5 bathrooms. It was great for sharing with friends and their daughter. We made pizza on Friday in the communal kitchen by the dam with the rest of our friends and then did wine tasting at the mountain cottages Boma on Sunday. The kids (babies to 9 years old) swam and paddled in canoes, fished, fed the horses and pigs, played with mud and ran around having a fabulous time. They complained when it came to home time. All this at an incredibly good price. Gorgeous views too. Stay at the Farm House or Lavender Cottage if you want lots of quiet but near to the action area. Stay in the Dam Cottages if you want a bit more action. Stay in the Mountain cottages if you want to be away from the dam and be deep in the mountain. There is a fenced off pool.

We stayed in the Dam cottages, which are 5 cottages along the dam, most sleep 2 people, there is a communal kitchen area, although each cottage has a kettle and microwave as well. Bathrooms are quite rustic and are great.

A BIG group of old and new friends stayed at Good Hope for the most amazing weekend away from the City, no cell phone reception or screen time! We rented all the dam and mountain cottages and some of the children who were brave enough pitched tents dotted around the cottages. The children rode bikes, walked freely between the two cottage areas, flew kites, kayaked on the dam, fished, swam in the pools, went exploring and collapsed exhausted at the end of the day with smiles on their faces. It is so peaceful and restful and nothing was to much trouble for our hosts. They organised a pizza evening down at the dam, providing all the ingredients and the same for a spit braai the next evening. We even had a wine tasting and cheese feast around the pool as the sun was setting, absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend this getaway to recharge those batteries in a beautiful setting surrounded by mountains and endless views.

So this place is charming... there are 2 horses, a very sweet donkey and some dogs that roam around and happily come visit you at your cottage. There is a shared pool between 4 cottages and a jungle gym. BUT I have to say the beds were rock hard and the kitchens could do with some upgrading. Thats the honest truth. But we were there for the family time (3 families looking to be together). We swam together, braid together and walked between our chalets and hung out... I loved it but I was sleep deprived from the hard bed and I simply closed my eyes in regards to the kitchen.

Seventeen of us returned to experience the wonderful hospitality offer by Taryn and Tienie at Goodhope Farm. We so enjoyed our stay in 2017 that we all unanimously agreed to again visit this lovely farm in its remote location tucked at the end of the valley up against the Riviersonderend mountains. We were not disappointed. Taryn provided delicious meals and the farm again worked its magic.

Two things happen when you approach the Good Hope Farm. As you approach you are blown away by the view of the farm (See photo!)- AND - you also immediately loose any connectivity with the outside world, which is a lovely thing! If you are permanently tethered to your phone, ipad or such, then this might not be the place for you, but we found it actually really refreshing to unplug from the rest of the world for a couple of days (and a quick drive up the hill and you can connect again, if you have to :). But let's focus on what is so wonderful about this place: 1. The views and the location 2. It is an working, organic farm. Animals galore. On one afternoon sitting in the garden of the cottage we had young pigs visiting, goats, a few sheep, young cows and of course the farm dogs and even Geoffrey, the pony sized goat, who wanted to investigate the bedroom of the cottage :) 3. There is boma with a pool close to the Mountain Cottages, which is lovely for gatherings. 4. We were with a large group that had also organized catering and the food provided was fresh and excellent (fresh farm meat, home baked breads and excellent salads). A place we would recommend and return to! Lots to do here and I would imagine a wonderful place for families and a good rest away from it all!

Every year for the last nine years a group of friends most of whom are over 70 get together for a week of cycling in different areas of South Africa. We spent the first two nights of our tour this year in the Mountain Cottages at the wonderfully secluded and remote Good Hope Farm where our hosts Taryn and Tienie could not have done more for the eighteen of us. The cottages are clean and comfortable and sited near a very pleasant boma and swimming pool where we were served delicious meals by Taryn and her staff. Taryn also arranged a wine tasting at nearby Windfall winery where she delivered a super cold lunch to accompany their excellent wines. Good Farm is a delight with animals everywhere -pigs and piglets, sheep, calves, dogs and cats all living in seeming harmony. What a wonderful oasis created by this hard working and animal loving couple. We can thoroughly recommend any one wanting to chill out to spend time on their lovely farm

Our group of 7 ladies stayed at this tranquil farm for a weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday. The Dam Cottages are rustic but clean with awesome showers! The communal kitchen/dining/socialising area is lovely. The fact that there is no cellphone signal means a very welcome break from technology. We did a little run on the Saturday morning and thoroughly enjoyed all the early morning farm sights and sounds. Highly recommended for a relaxing, soul rejuvenating break.

My family and I stayed at GHFC from the 14th December - 19th December 2016. A party of 8. We stayed in the protea cottage and the lavender cottage. We loved the rustic feel, the view of the vineyards and mountains. My 3-year-old daughter thoroughly enjoyed the farm animals especially the beautiful white horse and donkey and their inseparable friendship and of course the seacock (peacock in her vocab). A Perfect place for a family who wants to wind down from city life, electronics and every day buzz of life. For those who are looking for a family holiday with a genuine rustic feel, fresh air, swimming, walking and canoeing, Good hope farm cottages is the place to go. Taryn and Tienie were amazing they went out of their way to accommodate our every whim, Will definitely like to go back!
