Excellent stay.... one will not make a mistake booking here! The coziness of a fire, the comfort of a large couch and a book, the sparkle of the pool after a long day of working will always pull me back to Gubas De Hoek.
When we arrived we were welcome with a beautiful smile and friendly staff. Our cottage was clean and just as the picture shown on the site, not to mention the breakfast omw, what a breakfast the best ever, which was served in a warm, cozy room, Balbina and her staff are absolutely wonderful will definitely visit your place again. Love it👍
Very nice owner and friendly staff. Good accommodation albeit a bit sparse - could have done with a couple of floor rugs, especially in the bedrooms. Place looked more spacious on website but fine. Very nice and quiet - lovely garden and birds.
Very friendly staff and owners. Wonderful breakfast, we even got a small easter choc bunny! Clean, large room nicely decorated BUT possibly the worst mattress I ever slept on! It was so hard, I actually looked under the linen to see if there was a matress and not just a plank. When a couple shares a bed, giving them 2 single duvets just doesn't work! And even worst, the towels!!! OMW, they are so hard and rough, you can't rub yourself dry as you will take off your skin! It's like using sandpaper to dry yourself! Painfull and horrible! For the price they charge, this is unacceptable! Also the tiniest parking space, which is a problem for larger vehicles!
Lovely, cozy lodgings in a quiet part of town. Breakfast was delicious and security and facilities are very good. The room was spacious and had a desk with a view out the window which was a plus for a work trip.
We liked it very much in this guest house. It has nice and cozy rooms and a great garden with a pool and nice seatings. Also the breakfast was rich, tasty and served in a great environment in the garden. All in all, it is a great place to relax and feel good.
We loved our three days at this B&B. Balbina, the host, was warm, enthusiastic and helpful in planning each day's itinerary. Delicious breakfasts were served in the lovely garden. The use of a fully equipped kitchen is a welcome facility for guests who may prefer to eat in. Overall a great place to stay and an excellent base for exploring the Robertson area.
Reason for the refund: Booking made for 45 Reitz Street, while the accommodation provided was on 16 White Street. The property where we were located, was cut off from the main amenities (pool, braai, outside dining area) divided by huge walls with no direct access (or line of sight) to these premises other than an adjoining gate behind the “cottage”. Essentially being cut off from the main attractions advertised and we would need to leave our location, to enjoy the amenities. At no point in time where we made aware of this in our previous correspondence with your offices. If we were made aware of this, it would have dramatically influenced our decision as we have a 3 year old that requires constant supervision and it would not have been ideal. Immediately upon our arrival, we had also indicated that we were not happy with the accommodation and eventually checked out at around 6:30 the next morning. I never said I loved the place at all. While I do appreciate that you requested to speak to us together, but you approach was hostile and intermediating, as the place had simply not met our expectations. As you previously mentioned to me (and as indicated in our social media correspondence), you would “immediately refund” our money should there be anything not aligned to the advertisement and humbly request that you honour this agreement. While this may not seem like a lot of money to you, this was supposed to be one of a very few family weekends away because of Covid19, which we have now lost of on. Awaiting your favourable response as we wish to resolve this matter amicably.…
We stayed at Guba’s guesthouse for two nights while exploring the wine caves in the Robertson area. We were warmly received by the hosts Balbina and Gunther. Our room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed for the adults and an extra bed for the little one. Balbina was happy to give tips on what to visit and which restaurants to go to. The large pool was a highlight for our daughter. Gunther was cooking an excellent meal for us one evening. The breakfast, served at the table, was abundant and tasty with a wide selection of müsli, cold-cuts, cheese, jam, and eggs. We could even try scrambled eggs from the ostrich. We enjoyed our stay and will come back the next time when in South Africa again. A big than you from all our family.
Stayed here for a work trip. It's a nice big place that can accommodate a lot of people. We enjoyed the stay over a lot and the owners were very accommodating and made us feel at home. Would definitely recommend it and we will be back.
