We stayed at Karoo Lodge for 2 nights, and were very happy in our large room which was very well equipped, there are beautiful gardens where one can relax, great breakfast, and very hospitable owners.

We had a wonderful stay. The bed was king size and comfortable and the room and bathroom very large as well. The local Olive Festival was being held at the showgrounds to we took a walk down and did some shopping and watched the olive-pip-spitting competition which gave us a good few laughs. It was still very hot when we got back to the lodge so I sat under the tree and read my book and just relaxed with the birds. Unfortunately, I did not know that the Lodge offered supper - we walked into the town only to find that everything was fully booked so we retired to our room with a box of chocolate brownies. I could have kicked myself the next morning when I saw the delicious menu that was on offer. The night was "bush-quiet" and the breakfast served was delicious and adequate.

We had quite a few options for supper while in Prince Albert but were so happy that we chose @66 restaurant at The Karoo Lodge. The whole lamb neck is not something I have ever had or seen on a menu. It was exceptional and the portion was substantial! My daughter said she would do the 4 hour drive from home JUST for this meal. George and Elsabe are lovely people and put a lot of love into their establishment.

The B&B is above average, rooms are spacious but no soap or shampoo only shower gel, that was disappointing. The breakfast was nice and substantial but I could not understand why we did not get coffee on arrival but only after the meal, there was no yoghurt for the cereal or compote and that was only brought after we were ready for the eggs and bacon, which were very nice. The owners daughter was helpful and friendly but the general area around the porch and dining area was full of leaves, I felt that the staff should have been there to help her and also sweep around the area. the pool area was nice and sheltered but the garden does need attention. All in all a nice stay in a very overpriced town.
