Louise and I have been visiting Prince Albert every year for the past 4 years. For the last 3 years we have stayed with Elsabe and George at Karoo Lodge. This past weekend we took 4 couples with us because we knew that we could expect the same level of service we have always enjoyed on previous visits. Great, clean, comfortable place to stay. You HAVE to sample George's culinary skills on at least one of the evenings you stay at Karoo Lodge. You will not be disappointed.

I stayed there for 1 night and what a lovely B+B. A good location if you want to walk around town. My room was very spacious and comfortable and the hosts so friendly and helpful. They made me feel very welcome. Nice big breakfast. Definitely recommended.

Dear Robert Grossmann Thank you for your review. Note that you enjoy to make use of all open forums available to tell travelers your story, which make us wonder about your agenda and rating At least this review is written in a more positive way than the other reviews on this subject which you had had published and being flavored with uncalled for remarks about the town In reply and to repeat; Karoo Lodge, from start-up until today, had hosted +30,000 Guests of which about 60% offered their reviews at an average score of 9/10, see the rating on this forum Some Guest enjoy the accommodation in being different to what can normally be expected. They enjoy to shower in this very original lay-out, as well as the natural way in which the decoration of the suites are done. Nothing is old but in fact designed to offer that look. No Biggy-Best !! Our maintenance is an ongoing affair. Our suites are spotless Our Staff hardworking and friendly Our facilities offered are much more than found at other establishments, in this town or elsewhere Being Town Central, placed on a hectare of surrounding garden, so is our location Average rainfall 160mm per year and in the fourth year of drought much less that, this being the reason why we request guest to rather shower than to take a bath, a request which they understand why.

Arriving at Karoo Lodge we were immediately made to feel comfortable and at home in an efficient, non-fussy manner. An extremely spacious suite facing the refreshing pool made for a relaxing treat after the breathtaking if challenging drive across the Swartberg Pass. The verandah is overgrown with a vibrant green vine, adding to a sense of serenity on a sweltering summer afternoon. My husband watched a bit of cricket while I was able to do some admin using the good quality wi-fi network. Ideally located on the main street, we were able to stroll from Karoo Lodge to town before taking a quick rewarding dip in the pool, for which pool towels are specifically provided. A definitive highlight was the outstanding dinner of world-class tender, aromatic Karoo lamb neck with delectable vegetables accompanied by a wonderfully sprightly Villiersdorp Shiraz. Followed by the tart sweetness of a slice of frozen lemon pie, this made for what was possibly our best supper in almost three weeks' time at a very reasonable price to boot. Throughout, the service was genuinely friendly and hospitable. Settling down on the vast king bed surrounded by a quiet, dark Karoo night we have but one aim: returning to Karoo Lodge's charm and hospitality and brilliant cuisine as soon as we possibly can.

What an Oasis, a warm welcome, beautiful gardens and a cool pool. Stayed in a spacious, rustic family suite with a fan and AC. The food was very good, we ate the signature dish, neck of lamb and vegetarian pasta.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

After passing stunning Swartberg Pass, all we needed was a place that we could be comfortable, have some rest and enjoy good food. We arrived Prince Albert on sunday where 95% of eating places were closed. Luckily in Karoo Lodge, we had the chance to book for dinner. Believe me, they make the best food that we can find in this town and it's just delicious! Hospitality is great, they help you with everything. The rooms are very big, comfortable, clean, are decorated aesthetically. They have a big garden that you can rest between trees and birds. Last but not least, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast outside in the morning. What else could we want? We highly recommend this place!

Thank You for this review The inner secret of Karoo Lodge is the IN-House Restaurant which we named "@66". We keep the menu small with Karoo Comfort Food the our golden line. Wanting to keep on enjoying the preparation and presentation we also limit the number of patrons at all sittings. Main thing is, there is no waiting for tables or food!!!. If you want Dinner at any time between19:00 and 19:45 so it will be. Thank you

We had a wonderful stay. The bed was king size and comfortable and the room and bathroom very large as well. The local Olive Festival was being held at the showgrounds to we took a walk down and did some shopping and watched the olive-pip-spitting competition which gave us a good few laughs. It was still very hot when we got back to the lodge so I sat under the tree and read my book and just relaxed with the birds. Unfortunately, I did not know that the Lodge offered supper - we walked into the town only to find that everything was fully booked so we retired to our room with a box of chocolate brownies. I could have kicked myself the next morning when I saw the delicious menu that was on offer. The night was "bush-quiet" and the breakfast served was delicious and adequate. Our hosts were ever so friendly and I only wish we had booked in for another night. If the opportunity arises, we will definitely go back.

We had quite a few options for supper while in Prince Albert but were so happy that we chose @66 restaurant at The Karoo Lodge. The whole lamb neck is not something I have ever had or seen on a menu. It was exceptional and the portion was substantial! My daughter said she would do the 4 hour drive from home JUST for this meal. George and Elsabe are lovely people and put a lot of love into their establishment.

We where so happy to stay in this guesthouse ans we will come again as soon as possible.
The welcoming by hosts is lovely and perfect, there is a big and very nice garden around the guesthouse and as the guesthouse is a little bit far from the small main road the place is really very much peaceful.
The rooms are very very large and very very clean. The beds are extra large, very comfortable with a perfect mattress and very clean as well.
The pool is clean and the pool longer and sits are very clean as well.
The breakfast is very good as well and you can enjoy it under the pergola closed to the swimming pool with many birds visiting the garden around you.
The housekeepers are discret and very serious as well.
In conclusion a place where it is so nice to stay and relax. You have also many restaurant at walking distance;
Congratulation to all the team !
