I asked my wife to provide a review as our stay was she described as "awesome" so.... From my lips to hers...
From the initial booking process, the warm greeting to settling in to what one can only describe as luxury accommodation, our experience was fantastic.
The aviator cottage besides it's really stunning setting provides every luxury you can imagine from a stunningly furnished lounge, a fully equipped kitchen with a Smeg stove to a king size bedroom, a king size bed with percale linen giant pillows, beautiful bathrooms with bath sheets and heated towel rails,a giant fire place in the lounge and a mini one in the main room, and day beds in the stoep, it was divine.

Chantal from Bergriver was a gem of a host and provided for our every need, and cherry on the cake, allowed us to enjoy the visit with our three Scottish terriers.

A visit to Bergriver wines is also well worth the visit.

We have been going here for the last five years and always enjoy it. The standard is consistantly high and does not waver, from the plush big towels in the bathroom to the electric heating blankets in the beds, the stocked kitchen with filter coffee, wine, olive oils from the farm to the well kept grounds. We value the peace and quiet and the beautiful natural mountains and vineyards and the great night sky and the crisp air in winter. We have dogs that acompany us and they love the freedom of a working farm and the walks in the adjoining mountains and a swim in the dam.You can also cycle, horse ride or do lovely excursions to nearby Meiringspoort or the Swartberg pass, Oudtshoorn and of the course the town of Prince Albert with a first class dairy and a great butcher for Karoo lamb and boeerwors for the braai. We will be back!

We arrived exhausted but had time for a swim in the dam - extremely well equipped kitchen made dinner a breeze. I am sure the stars were lovely but I was asleep by 830!! Awoke at 5 - great walk around the vineyards before back on road to Prince Albert. Will be back in January I hope. Beautiful house and five stars all around.

We arrived on a hot summer's afternoon after crossing the Swartberg. What a surprise - Bergwarer is an oasis for a weary traveler. The accommodation is first class - spotless, well equipped and many extra touches that make it a really special place(eg a really nice selection of music).
Sitting on the veranda under a starry African sky, overlooking the vineyards and mountains, with good friends and a bottle or two of Bergwater's best - sheer heaven.

We had the privilege to spend 3 days at the lovely Aviator house on Bergwater farm in a valley just outside Prince Albert. What a gem. The house was perfect for 4 people with every item and furnishing imaginable and necessary to ensure a comfortable and indulgent stay. Our host, Chantal, was a lovely and wonderful person and made us feel extremely at home. Her personal luxurious decor touches were evident in every room of the house and so nic to experience. The serenity of the area ensured a state of relaxation and the vineyards called us every morning and early evening for a stroll around them,..natural beauty unsurpassed. Thank you Chantal for an absolutely amazing time and some wonderful memories. We hope to return to Aviator house and Prince Albert soon. W

We have been to Prince Albert many times, but this stay topped all. The breathtaking views from every window in the house, memories of visiting the winery, but Chantal as a hostess has been a treat. Wish there were more of her kind. Many thanks and hope to see you again one day

Having roots in remote Finnish countryside living couple of days off busy society is not that exceptional, but this Farmhouse with Chantal's abilities and planning is really something!
We enjoyed our days here so much. Own planning and activity is needed here. Braai outdoor, of course, but also indoors - which was very nice on rough, windy evening. After eating (too much) boerewors it was so nice to watch all stars in the sky and drink little more Bergwater wines (easy to buy from tasting room just when arriving - check times as not open on Sundays).
House itself is piece of art, with needed modern equipment.
Prince Albert has nice hotels - but make something different! Accomodate at Bergwater. Just buy food for braai and breakfast and get out of ordinary.

We stayed at Bergwater Farmhouse for a few nights at the end of December, and celebrated the New Year in the spectacular Klein Karoo.

From arrival through departure everything was just perfect. Chantal is a super hostess - what a wonderful, warm and caring person. She makes you feel right at home from the minute you meet her.

LOVED the characterful farmhouse - SO well equipped, and such attention to detail (e.g. fresh veld flowers, milk from the local dairy, wine from the vineyard etc.). Wonderful bedding, soft towels, stunning views...

The setting is magical - the majestic Swartberg, wildlife, the crystal clear dam - everything just stunning.

We were so sad to leave to go back to the big smog, but will certainly be back!

Stayed in the FARMHOUSE just before Bergwater was listed on TripAdvisor, but think the quality of the experience warrants a late review. One of those places that you will always remember, not just because of the quality of the accommodation & environment, but also the personal attention and extras that made you feel at home - Chantal is an amazing hostess. The farmhouse is very spacious, homely-stylish and has all the amenities you could ever wish for. In winter the fireplace & comfy furniture offer a perfect spot to catch up on your reading and family time and in the early mornings the sun on the stoep is just irresistible! Plenty to do as well, walk among the vineyards and sheep or tackle the challenging 4x4 track or go and enjoy pancakes in town. You really can't go wrong at Bergwater!
