We had a wonderful stay at The Sanctuary. Clean, classy rooms with all the necessary comforts. The hosts Andre and Lisa went out of their way to make us feel at home and their attention to detail and care is apparent. Breakfast in the beautiful garden was a joy! Thank you Andre and Lisa for making it so memorable.

The Sanctuary comes highly recommended from my family, we were 3 adults. The home is perfectly situated on the main road, allowing you to walk to most of the 'things to do' and restaurants for lunch and dinner and has been appointed with excellence. The rooms are all fitted with complete comfort and include air-conditioning and fans (much needed in summer in Prince Albert). A full hybrid solar system makes load-shedding a thing of the past. Andre, one of the owners is an absolute gem, extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgable and a pleasure to have met, certainly knows how to treat guests. Lisa, Andre's wife, handles the breakfasts - fun, friendly, knowledgable and what a breakfast, makes most establishments look like beginners. There is space for cars to be parked behind motorised gates and a front balcony with tables and benches to sit in comfort and watch the world go by. The outside pool area is to die for, fabulous large pool with loungers, tables and chairs and broad parasols. This truly is a place to stay.

We were only staying for a night , but next time will definitely stay a bit longer. A lovely spacious room , very clean and a HUGE spacious bathroom. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, and the host was very friendly and helpful. The location is central to everything. We definitely recommend staying here.

Unfortunately the complete character of this property has been altered by painting everything white. No insect spray in the rooms so I spent the night dodging the mosquitos. We felt the breakfast was overpriced, the tinned mushrooms were not appreciated. Located on the main street so plenty of trucks passing.

Hi, thank you for your feedback cwilli978825. Personally I think that white is perfectly in character with nineteenth century Karoo architecture and most people I have spoken to about the colorschemw of The Sanctuary agree. And the blue shutters do break the monotony of pure white. But this is of course subjective. You are right, there is no insect spray in the rooms but there are mosquito heat pads in every room. But I am looking at a more effective way to combat the Prince Albert mosquitos in an environmentally friendly way. Your comment that the breakfast is overpriced makes me think that you may have reviewed the wrong property by mistake. Out breakfast is included in the rate. We don’t actually have a price for breakfast for guests staying over. Finally, can assure you that we do not use tinned mushrooms. Everything we use in our kitchen is fresh and preferably locally sourced. Regards, Andre

We've visited Sudden Comfort several times, that speaks for itself in that we can rely on the quality of the establishment and you get a great welcome from Charmaine and Theo. The pool was a must as temps reached 39 degrees while we were there. Aircon and fans in the room helped us sleep well. Upstairs there's a communal fridge on the landing. In the downstairs room 1, there's a fridge. It's always interesting to sit out on the verandah and watch the world go by. Charmaine also helped make dinner bookings. We wish her and Theo all the best in the future.

André and his wife have done a fantastic job of refurbing a beautiful traditional Karoo house into an upmarket Guest House. Having been to Prince Albert before and being underwhelmed by the accommodation, we decided to try somewhere new and are so pleased we did. Location is perfect, breakfast amazing (best freshly squeezed orange juice of our trip) and room (No 4) large and very comfortable. We will deffo stay here on our next visit to Prince Albert.

We were part of a cycle tour to Prince Albert and had the good fortune of being accommodated at The Sanctuary. Excellent hosts and a beautifully appointed establishment. All our needs were met and more. Andre also accommodated all our bicycle needs and was always available to attend to any questions.

We have no hesitation in recommending The Sanctuary.

Thank you!

All aspects of accommodation at The Sanctuary were beyond expectation.
Room with balcony was most comfortable and whilst the Hotel is on the main road, there was no noise interruption
Andre the owner was extremely hospitable. Breakfast was tasty and served hot whilst the ladies in the kitchen were extremely friendly and helpful
We recommend this hotel most highly

After a visit to Die Hel (the hell) AKA Gamkaskloof in the Swartberg South Africa, THE SANCTUARY in the town of Prince Albert, was an oasis that soothed our bodies that were shaken (and stirred) by the rough single track roads in the mountains. From the street, THE SANCTUARY immediately has your attention. The pastel hues create a coolness that is oh so welcoming! Once inside, the tasteful decor adds to the splendour of this classic establishment. Hosts Lisa Botha and Andre Human, have, in an impossibly short space of time, created a haven for anyone wanting to explore this iconic region of the Western Cape. When one considers that their doors only opened in early December 2020, after extensive renovations, then the magnitude of what has been achieved, really hits home. This is style and grace. The rooms are huge and welcoming. There is even an option of a family suite consisting of two bedrooms. Breakfast was served at the poolside and was fresh and delicious!

The Sanctuary is the perfect combination of a boutique hotel with a touch of a home. The breakfast was delicious, the hosts are welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable of the town. The room was clean, fresh with all extras in good working order.
