The De Bergkant Lodge is a historical Cape Dutch Guest House located in the beautiful, historical town of Prince Albert at the foot of the dramatic Swartberg mountains in the Great Karoo. The De Bergkant Lodge offers their guests four Deluxe Suites with lounge, bedroom and en suite bathroom, and five equally well-appointed Deluxe Double Rooms with en suite bathroom. All rooms have ceiling fans, air-conditioning, tea- and coffee facilities, TV (with DStv) and most have under-floor heating. All the bathrooms have our famous double showers, Victorian baths and under-floor heating for chilly winter days (which occur just occasionally). Fluffy cotton towels ensure that you feel pampered. All beds are either twin- or king size. Our linen is 100% pure cotton. Breakfast for our guests is served either inside in our poolside dining room or on the terrace in the garden beneath the trees. Much of our fare on our breakfast buffet comes from the village and local farms in and around Prince Albert. Prince Albert is famous for its delicious fruits and the milk, yoghurt and prize-winning cheeses from Gay's Guernsey Dairy. Guests will enjoy at the De Bergkant Lodge a breakfast which is a delight in taste and presentation. The secluded gardens boast two large saltwater swimming pools: a 15m pool surrounded by verdant lawns and a 10m walled, private pool. We also offer a sauna and steam bath and hidden in a private garden you will find a small "star" bath.

The new owners Tara & Bronnie and their team did an excellent job in making our holiday special. Excellent breakfast with fresh fruit and cheeses with warm breakfast if their was still space. A beautiful lodge with spacious rooms in walking distance to the restaurants.

I had the pleasure of experiencing an unforgettable stay at de Bergkand Lodge. The rooms at the lodge are a dream - spacious and tastefully decorated. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection of fresh, high quality food. Great emphasis was placed on cleanliness and comfort, and I was able to relax in the best possible way.

Our family has visited Prince Albert, a charming village in the Karoo, many times since 2008. The de Bergkant Lodge, a guesthouse in the Cape Dutch style, mainly built in 1858, is our favorite place to stay. Bookings are attended to promptly and efficiently. The suites, that we prefer, are spacious and well appointed with all required amenities, including tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. The location of the guesthouse is perfect. Edge of town but in walking distance to most places you may wish to visit. As cyclists, this is perfect to visit the majestic Swartberg pass and other cycling routes. The guesthouse boasts 3 swimming pools with lawns and loungers to relax. There is borehole water and a generator to assist with Loadshedding. The owner makes delightful breakfasts where the birds flocking to feeders can be watched. There is ample parking on the property and free wi-fi. For us the de Bergkant Lodge is a home from home and reason to visit Prince Albert.

Clean (as in clean), neat and tidy yet still cosy and not intimidating and clinical! Proper off street parking, bonus. Note to traveler: Don't just over night, stay on and appreciate your surroundings.

Character filled boutique hotel. Beautifully presented and squeaky clean. Pity it wasn't warm enough to enjoy the stunning pool and gardens. Walking distance to restaurants and great secure parking on site makes this a convenient and wonderful place to stay.

A beautiful old Victorian style guesthouse that is absolutely spotless with immaculately maintained gardens. I haven't stayed anywhere this clean before. We loved the large honeymoon suite which is very well appointed. Thank you to Michael and Renate, the charming hosts.
